If the vibration caused by the rotor run out continues to increase without mitigation it may cause the brake pads to deteriorate at a high rate reducing stopping distance or cause the vehicle to swerve.Read more

Therefore, when I learned that my rear differential is failing and there is no recommended service on that particular part which can be seen on the Maintenance Service manual below, there seems to be a lack of knowledge shared on this part. Unfortunately, I just started to look into this matter once my rear differential starting to fail, this knowledge was not shared to me during regular periodic maintenance, my Volvo Service advisors never recommended changing the rear differential oil. Moreover, it is a known defect for Volvo cars built throughout the years of 2008-2014. Volvo and Land Rover use the same part and there are many examples of this happening to Volvo owners around the mid-90K mile range. The cost is extremely expensive at an estimated $5,580.00. On 3 occasions the brakes were seized when attempting to drive the car after being parked if the brakes had gotten wet prior to parking. There is a loud clunk and even at times grinding. The pads/rotors were replaced 2 times and it is going back in for the third time. Each time brake pad material broke off. This compromises the braking capability of the vehicle if the pads have pieces missing.

I was not injured but my back was sore for the rest of the day. I brought the SUV into Patrick Volvo, Shaumburg, Illinois. The service representative (SR) explained to me that there is a sensor under the rear bumper that will open and close the tailgate if you waive your foot under one specific location. Which is approximately two feet from the left edge of the bumper. The SR explained to me that I must have accidentally waived my foot under the bumper and the sensor caused the tailgate to close. He further advised that it could not be deactivated. On September 18, 2021, at approximately 10:00 a.m. I was sitting in the cargo area putting on my golf shoes. The tailgate started to close. I ran as fast I could and avoided getting hurt or injured. My feet were not capable of engaging the sensor as they were in front of the bumper. I have advised Volvo Customer Service and Patrick Volvo of this new safety concern. Patrick Volvo has stated to me that they have never had this problem on any of their SUVS. They also do not know what is causing it. They are waiting for a loaner SUV to come back to their dealership and then I will bring the vehicle in, so they can attempt to solve this safety issue. In the meantime, I have to be very cautious when the tailgate is open. My fear is not only that it will hit me, but more so that it will not reverse direction and close on me.Read more

As I was on the phone with 911, flames began shooting out from under the hood, so I grabbed my fire extinguisher out of the back of my car and tried to put the fire out, but extinguisher was too small, a man from the grocery store brought out a bigger extinguisher, but fire continued to grow, by now the fire dept. arrived, opened the hood and after about 10 minutes extinguished the fire with a hose. I contacted Niello Volvo but they seemed disinterested in getting involved and after a second call to them, the service manager [XXX] hung up on me. I could have been killed! If my elderly husband or mother had been in the car with me, it would have been difficult to get them out! I want to know what caused the fire! Yesterday I contacted Tucson Volvo again, and they referred me to Tony's AutoGlass (520-889-2422). The Owner/Manager of Tony's AutoGlass informed me that leaking windshields are a very common problem with Volvos. I believe this is a very serious safety defect, and am seeking help from your office. You need to re-think your priorities and in whose interest you regulate. This is simply a monumental step in reverse. Doug Scott Sort of a heads up for those taking trips to rural(?) America. Ours is at the Eastern Shore - a hop skip and jump to DC but terra incognito for Volvo. Friday it was discovered that the car had a flat. The VOC option was to have it towed to a dealer 90 minutes (plus bridge traffic away for a repair, said dealer would have to order replacement so Monday). No loaner cars. AAA was called and jumped into action. They got the donut on and delivered tire to nearest shop 30 miles away in Chestertown. They will not repair a run-flat so ordered one for delivery soonest which is the following Wednesday. Since they are a "Goodyear" dealer they cannot process the Volvo/Pirelli road hazard warranty. So we pay full price plus for replacement. Dealer does not want to give us damaged tire either....but that we will extract. So, a simple flat tire that were it a normal tire would have been repaired easily Friday keeps the user's while on vacation stuck for 5 days on a car with a limited use donut. This is in regards to Pilot Assist. My husband and I purchased this vehicle in May of 2021. We have encountered several incidents (while using Pilot Assist). The car has directed us to different lanes, steered us to guardrails and other cars and has failed to break when cars have been stopped in front of us. We have taken the car in to our local Volvo dealership multiple times and they have stil

They have checked the sensors and hooked the car up to the computer and said it’s not sending off any codes, therefore there is nothing they can do. They have also test driven the car. The latest test drive, the mechanic left notes saying the car did start to drift in to the other lane but was corrected by the driver. However, he claims this is normal operation.Read more

Hi, When you drive over 70mph, steering, floors and whole cabin start vibrates, I have changed tires as Volvo recommended, alignment done. Everything dealer requested I have done. I have driven couple of more volvo as a loaners and noticed they all vibrates , but not bad as mine. Try to reach out Volvo head office but no proper resolution. I purchased a brand new Volvo XC60 T6 on 7/18/2021. On 8/14/2021 I was driving on the far left lane on the 280S freeway and wanted to merge one lane to the right and as I was merging the steering wheel went stiff and caused me to lose control of the car. I almost get into a big accident with a Tesla. Then I heard a sound and notice on the dash display "Power Steering service urgent drive to a work
... shop" sign. The steering wheel continue being stiff and I experienced pain in my left arm due to the steering wheel incident. I immediately called the dealership where I purchased the car from and unfortunately the service department is closed on weekends. I managed to drive slowly and drove back home with very limited control on the steering wheel. I used Volvo On Call and had the car towed to be brought back to the dealership. It was a quite traumatic incident that make me feel not confident to drive the car anymore. Is there any recall that I am not aware of for this car model? This occurred after driving for about an hour. While driving at a fairly high rate of speed, I felt the driver's door move slightly. The dome light came on indicating that the door had opened. The windows were down so I cannot state if they would have slightly lowered as they normally do when the door is opened. I pushed outward on the door to see if it was fully open. The latch held the door.
... Using the interior door handle, I then opened and closed the door. The doors were then locked as extra security. Approximately 30 minutes later this happened again on a busier highway. I then had to worry about the door opening on me again while I was driving, however, there was no further occurrence. Later after returning home, I performed an internet search to see if something like this had happened to others. After seeing other comments of C70 doors opening & door latch problems, I decided to report the problem to get it on record.Read more
