Sadly, the gear sensor does is not able to be replaced by itself and the entire gear/steering rack has to be replaced to fix the sensor fault according to Marina Ford (Los Angeles) Service advisor/Manager. Passenger side front seat headrest airbag deployed while driving. The airbag feature deployed while my 13 year old daughter was sitting in the seat. When the safety feature deployed, it hit my child in the back of her head causing pain and injury. This safety feature deployed without warning or cause. The headrest broke when it deployed is now just hanging from the seat.

When starting to drive 2 days ago multiple braking warnings went off on the vehicle, including Advance Trac warnings. The vehicle became extremely difficult to stop, requiring high pressure on the pedal. It was able to be stopped safely as there was an empty parking lot nearby. It was taken to a Ford Dealership (Tri-County Ford) and diagnosed with a failure of the ABS Control Module. The part was
... confirmed by the dealer to be the same as in NHTSA recall # 19V904000 (Ford recall 19S54). Repair cost $1220, dealer advised calling Ford. I then called Ford who informed me that my specific VIN was not covered under the recall. There were no issues or warnings prior to this event. The worst part is that this is the second time such an serious incident has occurred with my vehicle which could have harmed or killed me or others. In 2019 the Power Steering failed spontaneously on the car while driving and again, the 2011 Milan Hybrid was covered but not my specific 2010 VIN (I filed a separate NHTSA complaint and sent a letter to Ford yet there were multiple reports prior, and multiple similar reports since then, sadly). I have now experienced two major safety events with the vehicle. Thankfully I was very fortunate to walk away from both (at a combined cost of $3000), yet these should have been corrected by Ford and covered under recalls. I am an emergency medicine physician who takes care of people injured in motor vehicle accidents. Shame on you, Ford and NHTSA for failing to correct either problem and for keeping similarly unsafe and unrepaired cars on the road! Make sure the correct vehicles are covered with these recalls and if not and additional reports come in, it is your duty to expand them to keep the public safe!Read more

Our 2018 Ford Explorer windshield trim panel is partially detached. The detachment is on the passenger side lower corner of the windshield and continues up for 9 inches. Had to quickly react before getting rear-ended while driving 50 mph. My rear main seal blew out and leaked all my oil out of my engine, due to my PCV being clogged or frozen, causing it to lose power and knock really loud. There was no warning light for the pressure build up or for low oil until it blew out the seal. This could of caused me an accident on the highway at 65mph if the engine had locked up due to no oil. ... ue that states the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) may become clogged or frozen in extreme cold, causing a build up of pressure, leaking oil and causing the rear main seal to fail. Repairs for my vehicle were for the rear main seal replacement, cleaning my PCV system and replacing the oil, all done at the dealership. This really can be a dangerous situation when it happens and could cause the engine to turn off without warning. This PCV should be a recall if it continuously gets clogged just by normal usage. Temperatures were at zero degrees on the 12/25/2022 and 12/26/2022, so mine was definitely frozen.Read more

The vehicle went into "turtle mode" on the freeway, abruptly started vibrating, reduced speed to a crawl, and then shut down. My family and I were trapped in the vehicle on the center divider of the freeway.

Tha car is burning engine oil, around 1/4 gallon each week and the motor don't have any oil leak and no black or blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe

The backup camera display will occasionally not display what is behind the vehicle (the screen is blank with a strange icon in the middle of it). This is not a consistent problem. It sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn't. I almost backed over a child who wasn't visible. In my research this problem also happens to other GM vehicles.

The transmission and or converter on the vehicle continue to have harsh vibrations in all gears. The unit has a difficult time finding the right gear for the traveling speed. ... se to drive this vehicle due to excessive vibration felt through the steering wheel and foot pedal's when coming to a stop. They don't feel that the vehicle is going to come to a stop. I would agree. It's as if the transmission does not start downshifting as the vehicle slows, and then drops into first very hard as the vehicle is coming to a stop. The vehicle started doing this at 220 miles and continues to get worse. It has been to the Dealer four times, with the first being a driveshaft shim placement to the driveshaft per a TSB. Second visit, the dealer states there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Third visit, complete drive shaft and components replaced, with no remedy. Fourth visit, an engineer from Ford came to the dealership and determined there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. These problems have been occurring since the vehicle had 220 miles on it. According to the garage Piston Ring failure causing engine damage and oil consumption. Vehicle shut off while excelling on a high traffic route. Vehicle has been in the garage since 1/13/23. As of today 2/1/23 still awaiting news of engine replacement.
