1. WE NOTICED THAT CAR IDLED IRREGULARLY AT STOPS AND SEEMED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL SOMETIMES. WE WERE COMING UP ON 60,000 MILE SERVICE INTERVAL & THOUGHT THAT AT THAT APPOINTMENT WE WOULD HAVE THEM ADJUST. 2. FEB 2005 - WE DROVE CAR OUT OF RESID. DEVELOPMENT ONTO 2 LANE ROAD & CAR LOST POWER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WE WERE ABLE TO GET TO THE TOP OF THE HILL 500 YARDS AFTER WE TURN

IT TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO GET IT RE-STARTED (I HAD TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR DOWN AGGRESSIVELY). THE CAR COMPUTER SAID WE WERE IN "LIMP MODE" AND WE DROVE AT A VERY SLOW SPEED ESPECIALLY UP HILLS TO THE FIRST FUEL STATION. WE SHUT OFF THE CAR FOR 10 MINUTES & GOT SOME FUEL. AFTER THIS THE CAR RAN OK BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK SO WE CALLED OUR DEALER. 3. WE DROVE THE CAR 1 HOUR TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THE ETM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE INVOICE ALSO SAYS THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR. WE DON'T HAVE THE OLD PART. LANE. FOR 15-20 MINUTES WE TRIED TO START THE CAR THINKING THE COMPUTER MIGHT RESET. VEHICLE TOWED TO ROYAL VOLVO IN BIRMINGHAM. BY THE TIME THEY EXAMINED IT, VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER MALFUNCTIONING. THEY KEPT IT RUNNING UNDER LOAD FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THERE WERE NO COMPUTER FAULT CODES FOUND THAT COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE PROBLEM. THIS IS THE SAME INFORMATION THAT CENTRURY VOLVO HAD FOUND AND ADVISED ME OF EARLIER. DT: WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOST POWER AND DIED ON THE HIGHWAY. CALLER SAID THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE RESTARTED BUT IT WOULD NOT IDLE RIGHT AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE NEEDE TO BE REPLACED. MY 2000 VOLVO S70 HAD A MALFUNCTION OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE AND I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR HAVE AN ABRUPT LOSS OF SPEED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A VOLVO DEALER AND WAS CHARGED $1,500 TO REPLACE THE MODULE ABOUT 5 WEEKS AGO BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE CAR IS STARTING TO MALFUNCTION AGAIN. *JB

DT: 2001 VOLVO S60. THE CONSUMER STATES IN TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WILL CUT OUT AND IT WILL NOT MOVE. WHEN TRYING TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT WILL COME BACK ON. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. 2 WEEKS AGO MY 2000 V70 XC ABRUPTLY LOSS ACCELERATION POWER, WHERE THE VEHICLE COULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH AND THEN STALLED WHICH LOST POWER STEERING ABILITY WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN. LUCKILY, SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. SHE SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED WITH NO APPARENT PROBLEM AND DROVE THE REMAINDER OF THE WAY WITH

I DROVE THE CAR TO THE VOLVO DEALER AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT WAS DRIVING CAUTIOUSLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MODULE WHICH COST APPROX $1,000.00.
