The contact owns a 2021 Volvo XC90. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle and shifting to drive(D), the vehicle failed to respond unless the brake pedal had been released for 2-3 seconds. Additionally, the contact stated that upon starting the vehicle and releasing the brake pedal to reverse out of the driveway, the vehicle rolled back at a faster speed, and the vehicle failed to respo
... nd as intended upon depression of the brake pedal. The contact noticed a pattern with the brakes malfunction. The contact stated that the brake pedal required to be depressed 2-3 seconds after the first depression for the brakes to operate as intended. The contact stated that he was a master mechanic and had concluded that the failure was considered a safety issue because the vehicle was only designed with electronic braking, which left the driver with no manual option for braking. The contact stated that the failure had only occurred upon starting the vehicle. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V392000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the brakes had failed and Software Update Number: 3.5.14 was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and it was confirmed that the repair was not covered under the recall or under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 78,500.Read more

I have 25 Palisade calligraphy and from the last two months I almost went 7-8 times to the dealership because of the ABS issue. When going over rougher road, railroad tracks, and also uneven surfaces brake is not working at that time. It is an issue that only happens under very specific conditions like slow speeds (under 10 mph), uneven surface (gravel, railroad tracks, speed bumps, driveway entry
... ). Acts like ABS is activated but it the car isn't acknowledging that it is. I work in Manhattan and that is very crowdy place and at that time my car brake is not working, I almost hit the crowd because my car is not stopping at the stop line, it is very serious issue, please consider it and take this feedback.Read more

When my son got a car last December, we bought him a 2024 Volvo s60, primarily for the safety features. Since we have had the vehicle, Volvo has had a lot of issues with their infotainment system. But sometimes it was the backup camera too and once the he

There was a pick up who was trying to avoid it. My son tried to avoid the pick up unsuccessfully but partially because his wheels landed on metal shelving and he was sliding on the road. The accident report captured this. His car was totaled. The purpose of this email is that the car was totaled, as even though he was braking as hard as he could, his tire was sliding on that shelving so he did have quite a hard impact. Not one safety feature worked on this vehicle, not the SOS, not the forward, not the airbags. My intuition is telling me it's all related to these many issues with the electronics in this car (recharge models have had this issue and been recalled). Before they dispose of the vehicle I wanted to consult with an attorney to see if we have any recourse with Volvo, especially because safety is why we bought the car. It is currently at the body shop. The infotainment has had an issue forever.Read more

When arriving at the high school parking lot to pick our grandson up from band practice, we experienced Sudden Unintended Acceleration of our vehicle as we attempted to pull into a parking spot. A police report was filed and a tow truck had to be called to tow the vehicle. The vehicle had less than 5,ooo miles on it and had only been owned by us for 4 months (it was new when we purchased it). The accident happened on August 27, 2025 and we did not get our vehicle back from the body shop until Monday, November 17. Not only was our safety at risk, but the other driver and several students in the parking lot at the time. This incident could have been so much worse, or could have ended in a fatality. Volvo did an inspection of the vehicle, but the results were inconclusive and our insurance company paid the claim. As soon as we got our vehicle back we took it to our local Volvo service manager to have him check it over. He has indicated the car is safe to drive ... but I am very nervous about driving the vehicle now. The cost to repair the vehicle was $14,145. I was not distracted at the time of the accident and I am certain that I did not hit the accelerator pedal. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT appeared on dash at approximately 72k miles. Had code read and diagnosed by certified mechanic and he had an active code P06DA00(this code signifies an electrical fault, open circuit, or high resistance in the circuit for the oil pump control valve on vehicles with two stage oil pump, which can lead to incorrect oil pressure, which can cause engine damage if not addressed). Vehi
... cle was taken to Harriman Mercedes in New York. They did not acknowledge an active code but wanted to diagnose and repair a stored code for a small evap leak, which was rectified with a new gas cap. After prying about the P06DA00 code, they finally admitted it did have a stored code but to ignore it because it had something to do with domestic and foreign car engine computers issues. How do you ignore an active code with a potentially serious engine issue and told to ignore it. I know for a fact that this is a common problem with these 2.0L engines in these cars for many years.Read more

Two Issues: 1. "Check Engine Light" comes on for no reason. This has happened six times (I have video recordings and maintenance reports from the dealership.) In the last maintenance report, Volvo technicians acknowledged the issue and stated that "AS OF NOW NO SOLUTION FOR THIS TO BE FIXED, VOLVO WILL BE LOOKING INTO THIS FOR FURTHER NOTICE." They also told me to just ignore the light if it comes
... on again. So, if there is a real and dangerous engine malfunction, there is no way to be alerted. 2. The entire sound system goes off while driving. This has happened few times. When this issue occurs, there will be no sound of alerts (turn signals, collision warnings, parking warnings, air conditioning, Google Maps, radio, etc.) The sales associates and manager told me this happens to their vehicles as well, and told me to reboot the screen whenever it happens. In one incident, I had to pull over in a shopping center parking lot to reboot the screen. No permanent solutions to this issue as well.Read more

On November 5, 2025, while driving my 2017 Volvo XC90, I experienced a sudden and dangerous loss of braking assist. When I pressed the brake pedal, I heard a loud hissing noise coming from under the dashboard, and the car would not stop. The brake would not work and the vehicle would not slow or stop unless I stood up and used my full body weight to press it. A licensed mechanic inspected the v
... ehicle and confirmed this is consistent with loss of vacuum pressure from the brake booster/failure of the vacuum brake booster, the component that provides power assist to the braking system. The booster, brake pump, hose from booster to pump and brake pedal clip were replaced, with an estimated cost of $2,858. The mechanic also advised that this failure is not uncommon in Volvo XC90 models. After the incident, I researched similar complaints and found numerous reports on NHTSA and [XXX] describing **identical symptoms—hard brake pedal and hissing sound due to vacuum booster failure—**in the 2016–2019 XC90. For example, one owner reported “hard pedal, no assist, hissing sound behind dash” [XXX] , Volvo XC90 2017 Brakes section, accessed Nov 2025). No warning lights or error messages appeared before or during the event. The problem occurred suddenly and without prior symptoms. This defect posed a serious safety risk to me, my passengers, and other drivers, as it severely reduced braking ability and required excessive force to stop the vehicle. Under other conditions, this issue could easily have resulted in a crash. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

My fuel tank was practically emptied by "gas thieves". The fuel filler compartment remains unlocked regardless of whether the vehicle is locked or unlocked. And the filler tube where the gas nozzle is inserted is capless, with just a rubber seal that expands when the nozzle is inserted. In previous models Dodge used to have a button inside the cabin right below the headlights switch to release the
... fuel filler door, and a safety puller string in the back of the vehicle, should the button fail to release the locked door. Not anymore, and this appears to be a cost saving change/decision in detriment of the consumer. This lack of safety feature is also true for RAM 1500 pick up trucks. Dodge does not offer a locking cap option for the capless fuel filler tube, nor could I find an aftermarket one. A major concern of mine is what would happen should the vehicle roll down or lay on a side? Would the fuel in the tank come gushing out, and possibly cause a fire or even an explosion? Will appreciate your further investigation and response to this issue.Read more

Once the compressor faulted it would give a warning “vcfront_a447” cabin climate control system requires service. And just blow cold air everytime the vehicle is started. If turning on heat from the phone app or inside the cabin it would blows cold air for about 10 mins then it will show the warning lamp.Read more

We lease this car from Volvo and are the first and only owners of the vehicle. No history of collision or accidents. The vehicle has a rear backup camera. The camera system also allows the option to select a 360-degree, top down "birds-eye" view of the entire vehicle. The backup camera turns on automatically when the car is shifted into reverse and originally provided a normal view directly behind
... the vehicle that extended at least a car length or more. At some point, we noticed that the rear backup camera view changed and was angled sharply down to the ground, including a partial view of our rear license plate and back bumper. The view now extends less than 7 feet behind the vehicle, angled down from the height of the camera (40-inches) so we can only see inches above the ground just a few feet behind the car. We can no longer see approaching vehicles, pedestrians, or any obstacles. The service technicians suggested this change in camera angle resulted from a routine system software update that was automatically downloaded to the vehicle. I don't know exactly when that occurred. On June 27, 2025 we received a safety recall notice from Volvo - Recall R10320 - warning us that the rear-view camera image may not show during the start of a backing event. We installed the recommended "Over the Air" software update, but that did not resolve our problem. I took the car to a local Volvo dealership on 9/26/25. They tried software upgrades and reboots, confirmed that the camera hardware was operating correctly, and told me that they could not fix it. They suggested I file a complaint with Volvo. I did that on 10/3/25. The only response to my claim was to "contact your dealer to make an appointment," which I told them I had already done. I have followed up twice since and Volvo has not responded further to this complaint ID #: 251002-000556. The incident date provided below is approximate. I am writing to report a significant safety issue with my vehicle involving a leaking sunroof that is causing damage to both the seatbelts and airbags. I believe this issue poses a serious safety concern and could lead to malfunctioning safety systems during an accident. I asked my local Toyota dealership for guidance adn they told me to clean the drain tubes out with weed eater wire. We tried tha
... t and the drains were working fine. If that did not work, it would be 3-5 thousand dollars to fix it. I have reported this issue to Toyota cooperate, but they are not willing to acknowledge the issue because of the year and miles on my van. There are several other Toyota Sienna van owner that have experienced the same problem and yet a recall has not been issued. This is my family vehicle that I drive my young kids around in. I feel that Toyota is willing to put my family's safety on the line by not acknowledging this on going issue. Issue: The sunroof in my vehicle has developed a leak over the past year that continues to get worse. The leak is allowing water to enter the cabin during rain. The water appears to be collecting around the area where the sunroof is installed and is dripping onto the headliner, seatbelts, and side airbags. It soaks my driver and passenger seatbelts for days. Damage: Over time, this leak has caused visible deterioration to the seatbelts, as they are getting wet and showing signs of wear. Additionally, the airbags may be at risk, as moisture could affect their proper deployment during an accident. I am concerned that the presence of moisture may result in these safety features malfunctioning when needed most. This could potentially be a fatal issue.Read more

I have owned this vehicle less than 5 years and it has had the "Shift to Park" error 3 times and has now been replaced 3 times. The 2nd time was in August 2023 and yesterday it had to be replaced again. I don't understand how a part can fail this rapidly when the vehicle is only being driven approximately 10,000 miles per year. It only has 82,445 miles. I would like for GM to issue a recall fo
... r this issue or advise who the manufacturer is of the Switch part number 84955381 and Harness part number 84733196. The parts are not that expensive but the labor to replace was $ 462.50 and total parts was $ 55.56 on the invoice yesterday. As this is an ongoing issue I would like reimbursement. I am widowed and living on one income.Read more
