Subject: Request for VIN Review and Recall Inclusion – Camshaft/Vacuum Pump Failure (Recall 23R1) Dear Volkswagen Customer Care / NHTSA Representative, I am writing to formally request a manual review of my vehicle’s VIN in relation to Recall 23R1, which addresses camshaft lobe interference with the brake vacuum pump in certain 2015 Volkswagen Passat models. My vehicle, a 2015 Passat, recen
... tly experienced a failure of the brake vacuum pump, which required replacement. Upon inspection, it was determined that the camshaft was interfering with the pump, consistent with the failure mode described in Recall 23R1. Despite this, my VIN does not currently show an open recall. Given the alignment of symptoms, including camshaft-related damage and vacuum pump failure, I believe my vehicle should be included in the scope of this recall. I am requesting: - A manual review of my VIN and production batch - Consideration for inclusion in Recall 23R1 - Reimbursement or goodwill support for the repair costs already incurred I have documentation of the repair and am happy to provide technician notes that confirm the nature of the failure. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response.Read more

My 2018 Sonata has had an oil consumption problem since 2023. We initially thought it was the oil change garage issues. Had an oil consumption study conducted by Hyundai between July -September 2024. We were replacing 1,0 -1.5 qt oil every 700 - 1,300 miles. After the study, Hyundai told me I did not have an oil consumption problem. (Seriously?!?!) We had to replace the starter and now the spark p
... lugs. Photo enclosed of how burnt the spark plugs were. Our mechanic was so mad that Hyundai was not honoring their warranty but allowing my engine and connected parts to just burn up. Hyundai told me to come in for another check tomorrow, 8/25/25. I called the Hyundai Consumer line on 8/18/25 (4th new case number in 13 months) and the person who answered the phone asked if I contacted a lawyer. I asked her if I needed to contact a ? I’ve been reading online about this problem today and found information about NHTSA and decided to file a complaint. This is dangerous because when the engine blows, I may be accelerating on the interstate and merging. That could be a fatal problem with this car. Traveling on the interstate on 8/10/2025 my Sonata stuttered and hesitated upon acceleration. We took back roads and limped home. My mechanic replaced the severely burnt spark plugs and told us our very nice car would be worthless soon if Hyundai did not fix this oil consumption problem. He called our Hyundai dealer on our behalf.Read more

We have Taken it to the dealer and they service department said no codes for that problem showed up and said if it did it again pull into any dealership and have them check it. It happens constantly so it happened right when in front of one of their dealership so we pulled in and they checked again and it did come up showing an

So I did just that and had a photo book, the size of a wedding album showing how it went off sometimes every two hours. *Then the lane depart doesn't work, it will not vibrate, which we have all the settings on and set to the highest setting. *The warning for cross traffic when in reverse doesn't always work sometimes it won't even go off when someone walks close to the back of vehicle. * On just a few occasion the rear door will not close when button is pushed, we have to physically close it. *Sometimes it will continually slam on the breaks when we try to back out of our garage, taken several times of me putting in park and trying again. *Also sometimes when backing out it won't drive when I put in drive, I have to put in park, then move it to drive. *It is currently in the dealership, they have had it for 4 days and cannot figure it out but acknowledge it is happening.Read more

The radiator cooling fan on 2018- 2020 Nissan Rogue Sports has failed and does not turn on, which causes the vehicle to overheat and the air conditioning system to stop functioning properly. This problem creates a significant safety risk, as the vehicle can quickly overheat when idling or driving in traffic, potentially leading to engine damage, vehicle breakdowns in unsafe locations, or even fire
... hazards due to overheating. The issue has been widely reported by many Nissan Rogue owners, and I have confirmed through online forums and news reports that there is an active class action lawsuit related to defective cooling fans in Nissan Rogue models. The cost of replacing the cooling fan is significant, often over $1,000, and there are widespread reports of shortages in replacement fan assemblies, making it difficult to repair the vehicle in a timely manner.Read more

Gladiator on 3rd transmission and likely to need a 4th now at 26,000 miles. Each one failed the same way. The second gear in the manual transmission starts occasionally popping out of gear while driving and progresses in frequency over time to the point that it is impossible to keep in second gear at all. This may result in unsafe conditions such as loss of control of the vehicle. Each of my f
... irst two transmissions which were replaced were inspected by dealership technicians and the problem found to be easily repeatable. On tearing down of the transmission, pieces of internal components such as synchros were found to be disintegrated. I believe the transmissions were inspected by engineers from Jeep or its parent company though no findings were made available to myself. There were no warnings beyond the gradual escalation of the issue itself. The problem started happening at about 8000 to 10,000 miles on each transmission.Read more

On [XXX], while driving on the freeway, my 2020 Hyundai Palisade suddenly malfunctioned and went up in flames without warning. My young son was in the vehicle with me. Within moments, smoke and fire spread rapidly, forcing us to stop in traffic and escape before the fire fully engulfed the car. The entire vehicle became a total loss. This was a terrifying, life-threatening situation. My safety an
... d my son’s safety were at extreme risk. If my other family members had been in the car, the outcome could have been catastrophic. The emotional trauma from this event is significant and continues to affect us. The incident was reported to the San Antonio Fire Department, who responded to the scene and documented the fire. Their reports confirm the vehicle fire: Incident Report #[XXX] and SAFD Case #[XXX]. After researching, I discovered that similar fires have been reported in Hyundai vehicles, raising concerns that this is part of a wider safety defect. Families should not have to fear their vehicle spontaneously igniting on the road. At the time of the fire, there were no warning lamps, error messages, or symptoms that suggested the vehicle was unsafe. The failure happened suddenly and without warning. The vehicle has not been inspected by Hyundai at this time, but it is available for inspection upon request. I am urging a full investigation into Hyundai’s design and safety practices, as this fire placed lives in immediate danger. This was not just a mechanical failure—it was a potentially fatal event that could have resulted in severe injury or loss of life.Read more

This is the first time I have an engine failure. I drove my car 3 min before merging into the route 1 highway. In approximately 800 feet, my car went haywire, all lights in the dashboard went ON, the steering wheel got stiff, and the car speed dropped off, I almost got rear-ended. I made an effort to pull over to the break lane. The car shut off and I could not get it to start. I opened the hood,
... a light smoke was coming out of the engine. I left it open to make sure it doesn't get worse. After 10 min, a State trooper stopped by to check on my safety, I informed him that I called the insurance to report the incident and request a tow truck. After the tow truck dropped off my car in front of my house, I called a mechanic to check it, he informed me that the engine is seized.Read more

The back up camera does not work. I don't know the exact date when it began not working, but it's been many months. This may be due to a faulty electrical or computer system. Occasionally, an error message will appear on screen which states the obvious -- that the camera is not working -- and to contact the dealer. I received a recall notice in the mail on May 9, 2025, but the repair parts are
... still not available (August 22, 2025), which is 15 weeks after I received the recall notice. This is an excessive amount of time to wait. Since so much time has passed, it seems quite possible that the manufacturer does not intend to ever repair this defect as it is an older vehicle. This is worthy of investigation. At the very least, a status update should be given to owners.Read more

When driving early in the morning to drop off my kids to school, we are driving on a highway, crossing a bridge, no cars on either side, no houses either, when all of a sudden the rear left window has a loud POP, and then shatters completely. This was an exploding window out of no where, with nobody around and no other cars near by to cause this accident. The glass fell all over my body and I coul
... d not move until the vehicle was safely pulled over. This was concerning because my 1 year old was sitting next to me and the glass could have fell onto them if they were sitting right next to the window just like I was, and that was a safety concern. I called the dealership to let them know what happened right before my eyes and they said there was nothing they could do for an explosive window. I asked if there was issues with this happening to other people with an 2023 Chevrolet traverse, and provided my vin, they said no recalls so again, nothing they could do. I mention maybe a default in defroster or manufacturing issue of installation problem, and they just said NO over the phone. They did mention they had another lady who came in with the same problem, a window shattering for no reason while driving, but that “things like that happen normally”. Despite having other people with the similar issue, I was given the cold shoulder with No resolution.Read more

While practicing parallel parking in the vehicle for about 1 hour, upon leaving the parking lot, there was a message that popped up on the dashboard reading, “SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST”. When driving the vehicle out the parking lot, the brakes were hard when pressing and the vehicle took a while to brake. I found myself braking at a far distance in order to stop the car at the nearest stop light. I
... turned my emergency lights and drove carefully home, since the engine light came on, which I parked and turned off the car. The next day, I turn on the vehicle and the engine light is still on, I take it to the local Auto Zone for a code, code P0556 is showing BRAKE BOOSTER PRESSURE SENSOR. I then call the dealership, they tow the vehicle and upon arrival they run diagnostics and text me the following message: “ Buckalew Chevrolet: They looked into all of those. They'd have been induced by the parking brake situation, however eveything in the computers have moved to "history" standing which means the vehicle no longer deems it an issue. If a code is not active or current, there is not much I can do with it. It shows us what the computer saw as having an issue, but not what the issue is or how it occured. Without us being able to duplicate it or it actively giving a signal that we can measure, we are kind of stuck without a paddle.” They next say they don’t find anything and they cannot fix it, there I have to go pick up my vehicle. Therefore I do, but the following weekend I go practice parallel parking AGAIN, and the issue happens all over again with the EMERGENCY BRAKE ASSIST turning on by itself, I continue to have braking problems. “STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE” reads on the dashboard, I call the dealership, they say I have to bring the vehicle in when it’s actively having the issue, and I explain that once I turned off the car, the dashboard message disappeared. I have a 2015 ford f150. It is equipped like many others with a power sliding rear glass. The issue is the upper track for the sliding portion becomes unattached from the rear glass and falls forward. I've had this happen 2 times in the last 2 years. Specifically in the summer. The track is originally installed cheaply with 2 sided tape and a little adhesive. The local glass shop wants 85 dollars
... just to glue it back. I have seen multiple trucks with the same issue with the window taped up or just covered with cardboard. My concern, is if someone has an infant in the center of the rear seat with a rear facing car seat, the slide portion of the glass could come out and fall on the baby. Not to mention, it gets a little pricey to repair it every few years. The only solution from ford was to replace the back glass at my expense, which was around $1200 dollars the last time I looked into it. I believe this is a manufacturer design flaw that Ford should have to resolve and replace. I've seen way to many of these trucks with this issue for it to Not be a manufacturer problem. I own a 2022 Cadillac Escalade that is subject to NHTSA ID Number: 25V274000 / GM Recall N252494003 for a potential connecting rod/crankshaft defect in the 6.2L L87 engine. The dealership
... has failed to schedule an appointment or return my calls. This defect poses a serious safety risk due to possible sudden engine failure and loss of motive power while driving. GM’s recall remedy involves inspecting the engine and, if necessary, replacing it. The delay in repair scheduling is preventing me from having the federally mandated safety remedy performed. I am concerned that GM and its dealer network are failing to provide a timely remedy as required by the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. I own a 2021 VW Atlas, subject to recall 24V464. I scheduled a recall service appointment weeks in advance at Colonial Volkswagen of Medford, MA (via the VW app for 8:30 AM on Aug 19, 2025). I received multiple confirmations by email and text from VW. When I arrived on time, the Service Advisor (Frank Dasilva) told me the parts were not available and the recall could not be performed. This was ne
... ver communicated beforehand. I had rearranged my schedule for this appointment, including transporting my daughter to her internship in Boston, and this caused major disruption. When I expressed my frustration, the Service Advisor raised his voice, disclosed a personal health issue, and walked away. I was then told to wait for the Service Manager, who eventually arrived but gave dismissive and contradictory explanations. He claimed that no VW dealer orders recall parts before the customer arrives because they do not know the VIN or parts required. This is false—my VIN and recall number were known when the appointment was scheduled. The Service Manager’s tone suggested that performing the recall was a “favor” since I was not paying for it, which is unprofessional and misleading. Recall work is a federal safety requirement and VW dealers are compensated by the manufacturer. Colonial VW did not prepare for my scheduled appointment, wasted my time, treated me poorly, and failed to comply with the intent of the recall process. I was left without a solution, only told I’d be contacted “when parts arrive.” I am requesting NHTSA to review Colonial VW’s handling of recall 24V464, as this appears to be a failure to ensure timely and professional compliance with a federally mandated safety recall.Read more

I own a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude, VIN [XXX] ], with approximately 77,000 miles. The vehicle’s 4WD transmission/Power Transfer Unit (PTU) has failed and requires replacement. This defect causes loss of 4WD function, reduced drivability, and presents a huge potential safety hazard. The symptoms are identical to those described in NHTSA Recall 25V-011 for 2017–2019 Jeep Cherokees with PTU sna

This failure has significantly devalued my vehicle and created an unsafe condition. I am requesting investigation into why my VIN is excluded and for the recall to be expanded to cover affected vehicles like mine.
