The Integrated Thermal Management System (ITMS) in my Kia K5 GT (2.5T engine) has experienced a recurring internal electronic and mechanical fault. This is the third failure of this component. The failure causes the cooling system to malfunction, either by over-cooling or failing to cycle coolant once at operating temperature. Under acceleration—specifically when merging onto expressways—th
... e vehicle suffers a sudden loss of power and enters 'limp mode' with a dashboard alert stating the engine is overheating. This creates an immediate safety hazard in high-speed traffic. When the fault occurs, the radiator fans lock at 100% duty cycle. This is a documented systemic issue with the Kia 2.5T powertrain (referenced by major automotive publications and multiple Technical Service Bulletins). Despite a prior Lemon Law settlement and an active 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge this as a powertrain or emissions defect, attempting to charge out-of-pocket for a component that prevents the vehicle from passing state emissions and safety inspections."This was also cited in a 2023 issue of car and driver magazine long-term test with The Kia Sorento that shares the same engine and transmission combination This is a third time that part has failed for me with others had to replace that part over seven times The first time it happened it was at 8,000 mi it did not get fixed until 30,000 mi The second time it happened was at 51,000 mi The third time 75,000 miRead more

I checked everything that I could. It sounded like my motor was starving for oil. I decided to go ahead and change my oil to see if that could have been the issue. I had just changed the oil approximately 2000 miles before this. I changed the oil and filter. Went to start it up and still same very loud grinding sound, shut it back off and have not started it since cause I’m afraid to damage it further. I checked the oil that I drained out of it and looks like small metal flakes in the oil. No warning prior to this happening. I own a 2022 Acura MDX SH-AWD with approximately 85,000 miles. The issue began suddenly while driving around 5 mph when two loud bangs were heard from the rear drivetrain/transfer case area. After the initial incident, the vehicle was driven home, and the problem became consistently noticeable during any acceleration from a stop or low speed. The drivetrain would clunk/slip during acceleration and
... exhibited abnormal engagement behavior. Due to concern about causing further drivetrain damage or a potential safety issue, the vehicle was subsequently towed to an Acura dealer for diagnosis. The Acura dealer confirmed that both the transfer case and transmission require replacement due to “worn teeth on splines.” The repair estimate specifically states: “REPLACE TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION DUE TO WORN TEETH ON SPLINES.” Estimated repair cost is approximately $11,400. I have photographs and repair documentation related to the failure. This failure created a potential safety concern because the drivetrain was no longer operating normally and produced loud clunking/slipping during acceleration from stops and low speeds. A drivetrain or power transfer failure could increase the risk of loss of propulsion or inability to accelerate normally into traffic. The issue was reproduced and confirmed by the Acura dealer. The vehicle has been regularly maintained, including drivetrain fluid services, through Acura/Honda service facilities. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or electronic indications before or after the failure event. The only indication was the loud banging noise from the drivetrain/transfer case area and the resulting abnormal drivetrain behavior during acceleration. The service manager also indicated they had seen several similar cases involving this issue.Read more

My 2018 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ), equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine, suffered a catastrophic engine failure due to internal coolant intrusion into the cylinders — a known defect covered under Ford Technical Service Bulletin TSB 22-2229. Approximately four months before the failure, I brought the vehicle to Red McCombs Ford in San Antonio after the check engine light illuminated. Despite this w
... arning, the authorized Ford dealer failed to diagnose the issue or recommend any repair, and advised me it was safe to continue driving. Shortly thereafter, while driving on a busy highway with my grandchildren in the vehicle, the engine suddenly lost all power with no additional warning. We were forced to coast to the shoulder, placing us and other motorists at serious risk of collision. The vehicle was towed immediately to McCombs Ford West (7111 Northwest Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78238), another authorized Ford dealer in the same Red McCombs Automotive Group, where technicians confirmed the engine requires full replacement at an estimated cost of $7,415.89. A warranty claim was submitted but denied on the basis that I allegedly drove too long after the problem began — a determination I dispute, as the vehicle was towed immediately upon failure without further operation. The failed engine remains at the dealership, has not been repaired, and is available for inspection upon request. I am submitting this on behalf of my daughter, [XXX] . On Friday, May 8, 2026, [XXX] was traveling southbound on Highway 89A approaching [XXX] . Highway 89A is a narrow, winding two-lane canyon road with limited shoulder and significant elevation changes. While still on the canyon road, her 2020 Chevrolet Equinox suddenly lost all power, including power assist to both steering and brakes. A sudd
... en loss of power steering and brake assist on this road presented a serious risk of loss of vehicle control. Fortunately, she was able to get the car stopped off of the roadway. However, she was then unable to place the car into Park or shut off the ignition. Multiple warning lights were illuminated across the instrument cluster. Her roadside assistance plan towed the car to the nearest repair facility, where on Monday, technicians were unable to replicate the issue. A previously stored DTC P3055 was found in the diagnostic system. This code relates to a known and documented issue with Chevrolet Equinox vehicles, for which Chevrolet has issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins, including TSB 21-NA-139, which identifies the Multifunction Power Supply Converter (GM Part #13510484) as the known culprit for this failure mode. The front driver-side door on my 2021 Infiniti QX50 appears to have a faulty latch, hinge, or door ajar sensor issue. The vehicle repeatedly displays a “door open/door ajar” warning even when the door is fully shut and latched. The warning can sometimes be triggered or worsened by leaning on the door or applying light pressure, which suggests movement in the latch or hinge assembly. The issue
... also occurs while making left turns, where the warning activates as if gravity or vehicle movement is pulling the door slightly outward. This raises concern that the door latch may not be fully securing the door during normal driving conditions. This creates a safety concern because the vehicle may not properly recognize the door as securely closed while driving. There is concern that the latch assembly may not be functioning correctly or could fail unexpectedly. The issue also creates distraction while driving due to warning messages and alerts appearing intermittently. There were warning messages prior to the issue becoming more noticeable, specifically repeated “door open” alerts despite the door appearing fully closed. The issue appears consistent with reports involving faulty or misaligned door latch assemblies and/or door ajar switch malfunctions on Infiniti QX50 vehicles. At this time, the vehicle has not yet been fully repaired or confirmed by a dealer. The problem can be reproduced intermittently by closing the door normally and applying slight pressure or leaning against the door from inside or outside the vehicle, as well as during left-hand turns while driving.Read more

On 12/20/25, the car - a Sonata plug-in hybrid - failed to start. When I pushed the "start" button, the dashboard display lit up w many clearly irrelevant error messages. Each time I pressed start, somewhat fewer error messages blasted toward me, and finally, no response at all. On 12/21/2026, the tow driver said it was the 12-volt battery. He gave us a jump start and we drove a few blocks. Howe
... ver, it failed at the turn lane while waiting for the light to turn. We turned it back on, bought a new battery, had it installed. On 12/29/25, my husband was driving. He turned into the intersection with a traffic light. As he was making the turn, the car simply quit. No warning. The car was dead, and blocking traffic! He pressed the start button to turn off the car, then again to turn it on. He was able to complete the turn and parked on the side of the road. By this time it had a "check engine" light on. He then drove slowly the few blocks back to our house. On 12/30/2025, the car was towed to a local mechanic. He said it threw the code PODE7, "almost certainly for a failed High Voltage battery." It was still under warranty, and we had the car towed to the dealership. After keeping it for 2 or 3 weeks, they confirmed the code and that the control panel needed to be replaced. We finally picked up the car (w new control panel) on 2/20/2026. In the meanwhile, we looked up Hyundai control panel repairs on a reddit forum. We found lots of chatter about it. My 2022 Honda Pilot failed to engage Drive after reversing, despite the Drive button being pressed. This resulted in an unintended backward motion & a collision with another vehicle. 1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned…? The Electronic Transmission Shift-by-Wire system (push-button shifter) failed to respond to a gear change request. Additionally, related electrical systems includ
... ing the dashboard infotainment system & the integrated USB charging ports have malfunctioned. The vehicle & its components are available for inspection upon request. 2.How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle experienced unintended motion. While attempting to move forward in a parking lot, the vehicle remained in Reverse despite selecting Drive. This failure led to a low-speed collision with a truck’s tow hitch. This defect creates a high risk of crashes, injuries to pedestrians, or property damage because the vehicle does not move in the direction the driver has selected. 3.Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was previously serviced at a Honda dealership for a radio/infotainment recall. Since that service, the transmission has failed to engage Drive multiple times at random. 4.Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer…? The vehicle was inspected during the initial recall fix. And brought back because after the fix because the charging port stopped working/continued screen glitches. Following the recent collision, it is awaiting further inspection by a Honda dealership to determine the extent of the mechanical failure. 5.Were there any warning lamps, messages prior…? Symptoms began after the recall fix & included intermittent electronic failures of the charging ports/screen. There were no specific transmission warning lights prior to the gear selection failure; however, the persistent electrical issues in the dash area suggested a systemic electronic malfunction.Read more

Issue: Total failure of Frontview Camera ADAS sensor, disabling Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Front Pedestrian Braking, and Lane Keep Assist. Technical Evidence: GDS2 telemetry confirms a "No Communication" status for the camera hardware. Core safety modules including the Electronic Brake Control (EBCM) and the Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) Sensing Module report active communication failure
... s (DTC U026A/U216A). These safety-critical modules are currently unable to receive the sensor data required for crash avoidance and occupant protection. Forensic Timeline: Vehicle NVRAM reveals a manual "Clear Codes" event occurred at 46,838.3 miles—exactly 0.4 miles after the sale contract was signed. The fault reappeared with a 0 km offset (immediate return) and has been active for 162 ignition cycles, proving the defect existed throughout the dealership's possession. Dealer Response: The selling dealer delivered the vehicle with an unsigned 125-Point Inspection. Despite being presented with GDS2 telemetry proof of the braking and airbag communication blackout, management refused repair, mischaracterizing the disabled emergency braking system as a "luxury feature" and claiming the vehicle is "safe" to drive. Symptoms: "Service Front Camera" warning, intermittent loss of HVAC controls, and gear display (PRNDL) blackout due to systemic serial data bus interference caused by the hardware failure.Read more

The 2019 vehicle experienced a significant engine failure consistent with widely reported issues involving GM 6.2L V8 engines in GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado platforms. Prior to failure, the vehicle developed abnormal engine noise including ticking/knocking sounds, followed by loss of engine performance and mechanical failure. Vehicle diagnosis indicated internal engine damage requiring maj
... or repair or full engine replacement. The failure occurred despite normal maintenance and relatively low mileage for a modern full-size truck. The vehicle had no prior abuse, modification, or racing use. Based on technician feedback from December 2025 service call and publicly reported incidents, the failure appears consistent with commonly reported GM 6.2L issues involving: connecting rod bearing failure crankshaft/bottom-end damage lifter or valvetrain failure internal metal contamination sudden engine seizure or loss of propulsion This issue presents a serious safety concern because sudden engine failure can occur during normal roadway operation, potentially resulting in: sudden loss of power inability to accelerate vehicle shutdown while driving increased crash risk in traffic conditions I am aware of numerous similar complaints involving GM 6.2L V8 engines across multiple model years, including investigations and recalls affecting related vehicles and powertrains. I bought my vehicle around May 2024. Initially, everything seemed fine. However, I noticed that my car was starting to slow down and would enter limp mode, preventing me from exceeding a certain mileage. Subsequently, all the lights on my dashboard began flashing, prompting me to pull over and call a mechanic shop. I had all the necessary maintenance and repairs performed as per the plan. After st
... arting the vehicle, all the lights turned off, and it drove smoothly. A few weeks later, all the lights came back on again, and nothing showed on the OB2 Reader, which I thought was odd because something shouldve popped up if all the lights on my dashboard was going all crazy. The mechanic said the same thing and maybe thought it was the battery, sensors going bad, or even the wiring. But he checked everything and said he didnt find any issues. So I went home and the lights on the dashboard stayed on for 30 seconds and then turned off after I started the car. The lights turning on all at once on the dashboard became more frequent and this time, the check engine light illuminated, indicating a misfiring issue. I took the vehicle to a mechanic shop for a thorough inspection, and they made a few minor adjustments. However, two months later, the same problem recurred. All the lights came on again, and the vehicle misfired once more, accompanied by the check engine light. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the issue was a head gasket leak. Additionally, the seat belt alert for the passenger and rear seats, as well as the child car seat, failed to function properly.Read more
