Twice, upon starting the vehicle, the front panel said "Warning and information not available. Drive with greater care!". No speedometer, no headlights, no indication of charge left (mileage available for travel). Electric key fob did not open or lock door. Luckily the window was open enough for me to put my hand in and open the driver door. This is the third time into the dealer, the first time was a bad charging cable (though I don't know if that made the car short out, or if the car blew the cable). I've had the car a little over a month.Read more

While driving my 2019 Volkswagen Atlas, there was a sudden and significant loss of power accompanied by a check engine light and "ECP" warning light. My engine was sputtering and and would not accelerate. I immediately needed to pull off the road as it was not safe for other drivers. I turned the car off and then back on. The "ECP" light went away but the CEL remained and the engine still had a no
... ticeable sputter. I brought my car to a local VW dealer for inspection. They diagnosed the issue as a faulty fuel injector that needed immediate replacement. Any further damage could cause a fuel leak which may lead to a fire hazard. They told me this was a known issue with VW Atlas'. After doing some further research, I see that an NHTSA investigation has already been issued regarding this issue. There are multiple Atlas owners who have reported the exact same issue. I reported this to VW customer service today and they told me they did not consider this a widespread issue, and until a recall is issued, there is nothing they can/will do. There have been no issues with the car prior to this, and this issue occurred out of the blue. It is extremely frustrating because, not only is this resulting in an insanely expensive repair, but my son was in the car with me when the car suddenly lost power on a busy highway. This is a significant issue impacting a larger population of VW owners. Thankfully for us, this was caught before there was a major fuel leak and danger of fire like many others have reported.Read more

... red. I am an experienced driver that spent most of my career in sales. I drive a lot in the worst of conditions and traffic. I could barley keep this vehicle on the road. That night on the news we saw a report of a meteorologist student that was killed due to an accident caused by hydroplaning. Guess what type of vehicle, VW Tiguan. Not feeling it was a safe vehicle for our daughter to continue to drive, we traded it in. We received a recall notice from VW. A broken rear suspension knuckle can cause a loss of stability, increasing the risk of a crash. This could very well be what occurred. Or possibly the auto braking system kicked in without cause. The torch during braking was strong enough to make everyone in the car sore for a few days. Thankfully we did not hit any other vehicles on the road around us. We went back to the VW dealership where we purchased the vehicle from to trade in or sell back the vehicle. We suffered a great financial loss for trading in this new vehicle to Subaru. Well worth it for to protect the safety of our daughter. The issues with the Tiguan's' needs to be looked into closely because on a busy highway at 60mph if my daughter would have been driving the outcome I believe would have been much worse. Very scary! In some cases when attempting to propel the vehicle from a stop or slow roll to a quicker state of acceleration, response to pressing the pedal down to accelerate is delayed enough to potentially cause a dangerous situation. Once the vehicle starts to accelerate, it does so in a snapping way that almost causes another dangerous situation. This is being discussed by several owners on social media g

I was travelling at about 60 mph on a two lane road with no area to pull over. The car all the sudden slowed and to keep speed required alot more rpm. I found a place to pull over. I saw no lights but as I tried to get back on the road the traction control light came on. I thought it was because I was in some dirt. But as tried to get back to speed the car started to smell, was very sluggish, and
... required more power than ever before to come close. I pulled over again to find that the brakes were smoking. From my estimate the brakes were on this whole time. I shut the car down and then everything was fine again, if I left my foot off the gas and had the car in drive it would slowly move forward. Then the whole thing happened again, I could tell the behavior because the car would drop speed and then engine would be reving trying to keep speed. I pulled over again to restart the car to get it back to normal. This whole process at least 4 more times. Sometimes it happened after braking for a little bit and other times withoutbdping anything.Read more

On starting the car the system monitoring safety features shows first a fault detected in the ABS, then the air bag, then tire pressure and sometimes indicates that the key battery should be replaced. It also turns off the idle control that raises the rpm when the brake peddle is released when stopped, and defeats the roll back when stopped on a hill. This started over six months ago and was inter
... mittent, often turning off (no symbols lighted) and idle controls restored after a few minutes. About 5 weeks ago it became constant. In fact, the tire pressures are within the specifications, the key battery is new and measures 3V as expected. The status of the ABS and airbag cannot be checked by the consumer. This problem was reported to the Dealer, Flow Companies of Asheville, who found that the left rear speed sensor was faulty, but did not have the part. Replacement is now scheduled for October 3. This replacement hopefully will restore the monitoring system. My concern is that a monitoring system designed such that a fault in one system triggers false positive warnings in other safety related functions is dangerous. That it also affects the idle controls should not be acceptable. I have reviewed the TDI Forum and Golf Forums and found that this lighting up of multiple faults is not a rare occurrence. A faulty ABS speed sensor is sometimes the cause, other times is seems that moisture is penetrating a connector or cable. In any case a safety monitoring system providing false information should not be tolerated. I also drive a 2003 VW TDI Jetta, it also monitors the air bag, ABS and other systems, but a fault in one does not trigger a cascade of false positives.Read more
