At 116,500 miles, the oil pump failed on my Ford Focus. This was verified by an auto repair shop. The car has the Ford ecoboost 1.0 engine. The car "check engine" and "check oil" lights came on and there were multiple instances where the car stalled and I became stranded, often on busy roads. It has been well documented on the internet that Ford has had issues with this engine. I am not planning on repairing this car as the shop explained it probably will be in the range of $7000 which way more than the value of this car that is almost 10yrs old and 116500. The vehicle often feels difficult to control and demonstrates behavior consistent with lateral misalignment, including a crab-walking sensation. During rapid left and right steering inputs, the vehicle exhibits abnormal and asymmetric body movement. One side of the vehicle body rises excessively while the opposite side compresses, resulting in excessive body roll and uneven suspension response. This abnormal dynamic behavior creates a strong perception of instability and increases the risk of loss of control or rollover during steering maneuvers. Additionally, overall traction appears reduced. Under wet or slippery road conditions, the wheels are more prone to slipping, further compromising vehicle stability and steering control. Repair History and Dealer Involvement The vehicle has been presented to four different Toyota authorized dealerships for the same steering and suspension-related concerns. I possess the letter with the NHTSA Recall Number and the Toyota Recall Number. In the letter, it mentions the condition for which it is being recalled. The conditions are as stated in the letter. "Machining debris may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced. In the involved vehicles, this can lead to engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start, and/or a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power while driving can increase the risk of a crash." My truck has experienced all of the disfunctions that are stated in the recall letter. The drivers side sliding door when on the power on, it will either not catch when opening or not shut when you are trying to shut it. You can be in the door way and it will shut on you by itself. You have to physically stop it or pull it shut. I have taken it in the past to the local Toyota dealership, when it was under warranty, multiple times. Fuel tank failure at 18,000 miles and less than 3 years of ownership. I noticed that the vehicle had a strong gasoline smell when I was around it. When looking under the truck, I could see that there was a fuel leak coming from the fill pipe inlet into the fuel tank itself. Took the vehicle under warranty to the ford dealer, and was told that the hose clamp was loose connecting the fill pipe into
... the fuel tank itself. Was sent on my way with the vehicle, and noticed a smell of gasoline and fuel not even two months later. Took it back to the dealer and was told that they were unable to replicate it. Once the weather got cold again, took the vehicle back after noticing a much larger leak and smelling fuel, and am now being told by ford that the fuel tank does in fact need to be replaced as the tank is leaking from the fill pipe inlet. I am no longer under warranty and was quoted $1100 for this repair. Not only do I find this to be a safety concern as leaking gasoline is extremely dangerous and flammable (plus there are vapors in the air in my garage) but felt that my dealership did not do their due diligence to resolve this issue properly, and now I am on the hook for an $1100 repair that should’ve been taken care of when the vehicle was under warranty. No warning lamps were lit alerting me to this problem, I noticed it by smelling gasoline in my garage near the vehicle.Read more

My auto idle start has failed on approximately four occasions, initially on 01/29/25, and on three subsequent occasions. As I went to move forward through the intersection, the auto idle start initially engaged then immediately stopped and the vehicle wouldn't immediately restart. At other times, there intermittently seems to be some hesitation on auto idle start. I have taken it to the dealer on 02/10/2025 and 02/20/2025 (Hilton Head Honda) and on 12/23/25 (Stokes Honda of Hilton Head).
