Thick white exhaust is present in every temperature, and a heavy burning smell fills the cabin during acceleration regardless of outside temperature. My car has required 4 emergency tows and was out of service for around 90 days in 2025 alone. It has been to several independent mechanics and they tell me that since everything happens intermittently, I must take it back to Subaru as it should be covered under warranty due to the low mileage. However, four different authorized dealerships consistently claim "nothing is wrong". My car sits at these dealerships for weeks at a time without a significant change in the odometer. I had 2 claims with Subaru of America this year, including a claim for the vehicle randomly unlocking itself (not via remote), but they closed both claims and nothing was done. Ongoing failures in steering, suspension and braking systems make the vehicle unstable and dangerous to drive. I have a 2-inch thick file documenting repeated service visits for these specific issues yet Subaru refuses to acknowledge or repair them. The primary computer system, media system, and Eyesight (ADAS) safety suite fail daily. The dashboard lights up constantly when these safety features fail. The system frequently freezes and resets while driving, which disables all safety and navigation features without warning. The remote start fails to warm the car after 10 minutes in cold weather; once the heat functions, the car is filled with chemical fumes. ... ealer had me driving it down roads that didn't take the vehicle through all of its gears so the problem wasn't noticed until after I had gotten on to the freeway. Went on the freeway I noticed that it was shifting up hard and downshifting hard as well as a rumble strip effects in the vehicle struggled to get up to speed or was sluggish. When I was clear and tried to pull out into a lane from an intersection the vehicle struggled to get up to speed and I was nearly rear-ended. That's when I took it to have an OBD reading which caused the check engine light to turn on and notice that codes were pending which means that the dealership cleared the codes before the test drive. November 2025 (16,091 miles): Replaced blown passenger rear shock absorber - pull persisted. December 2025 (16,819 miles): Performed 10+ wheel alignments. Toyota Corporate Technical Assistance filed case #53530239 and instructed ABS/SAS reset - failed. Technicians documented "rear suspension binding" but did not mechanically repair. SUSPECTED CAUSE: Strut mount bearing binding/failure or suspension binding. Dealership replaced shock but not strut mounts (industry best practice is replacing both together when shock fails at low mileage). UNKNOWN it was just one day I started my car and turned the A/C on and I started getting this strong gasoline smell. I went on like a saw there is a recall for this problem for the M274 engines.

Faulty lifters replaced on passenger side. Had only 25000 miles on engine. GM extended warranty on thousands with this engine but not mine. Have only 28000 miles on truck and just turned 5th year so warranty is void. GM should extend warranty on all vehicles with this engine.
