Has 108,000 miles on it as of 3/23/2026 and whining started during August 2025. Still using vehicle as of 05/29/2026. New transmission and/or parts are currently on indefinite backorder from Toyota, so it cannot be repaired at this time.

Drivers seat has popping sensation on my back when accelerating, braking, and going over bumps. This issue appears to be coming from the lumbar assembly of the drivers seat. I've also noticed it is much more frequent when the weather is warmer (75 degrees +). I took the vehicle to the dealer and they were not able to duplicate the issue. Even though this seems to be a well known issue for the 2025 and 2026 Camry's as it appears many others have submitted similar complaints to the NHTSA, Reddit, etc. The service manager at the dealership even admitted Toyota was aware of this issue and supposedly installed the "fix" in my 2026 Camry at the factory. I have also reached out to Toyota Brand Engagement to voice my displeasure with the performance of the drivers seat, still waiting for a resolution from them. Transmission failure (whining noise similar to the well-documented issue with UA80F 8-speed transmissions). I reported the noise and requested a specific diagnosis at approximately 95k miles --- no warning lamps/warnings were visible, just noticeable noise while driving without the radio on. On May 22, 2026, Torrington Toyota confirmed that the transmission was failed, but vehicle is drivable.
... As I purchased a Toyota Extended warranty, Toyota has approved the order of a remanufactured unit, which is on back order, so repair date is TBD/unknown. I lack confidence in the long-term viability of remanufactured unit, as this UA80F transmission continues to have issues, and will cost me $12k+ after the warranty expires, in the likely case that the remanufactured unit fails. There should be a long-term fix to this expensive issue.Read more

... e to drive and two mechanics have confirmed an issue with the transmission, which is now also in a class action lawsuit for transmission failures. it’s had hiccups before over the past two years (started around 85000 miles) but never to that extreme and every time we took it into a mechanic they never saw the issue before until now. the hiccups we just delayed shifting and simultaneous RPM increase but stoped after a few seconds and letting off the gas, and then would correct itself. mechanics chocked it up to just needing a tune up and never saw the issue themselves, it happened randomly and just every once in a while.Read more
