Question 1: The Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) unit, which is a high-pressure "brake-by-wire" hydraulic system. Component A7/3. The component is currently installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection. Question 2: The vehicle experienced a sudden, catastrophic loss of hydraulic brake pressure while in operation. This failure required extreme physical force on the pedal and significant
... increase in stopping distance. The vehicle is currently in my garage with chocked wheels until I figure out what's next. A couple days ago, I had the car at a dealer and requested a review of this system and they released the car back to me stating the system status was, "OK" despite me stating to the dealer that the safety-monitoring counter was found to be at 0 on a 63,000-mile car. In all of my research, I believe this "silenced" the vehicle's ability to provide a timely service warning (Code C249F) before total hydraulic failure occurred. Question 3: Mercedes-Benz of Denver performed a diagnostic on January 21, 2026. While the dealer initially claimed the system was "OK," the total failure occurred within 72 hours of their inspection. The reason it was at Benz of Denver is because my independent mechanic confirmed the 0 actuation count which was suspicious to me. I wanted to understand the mechanical integrity of the newly purchased vehicle. Question 4: Yes, inspected by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership technician on January 21, 2026. Question 5: To my knowledge there were no mechanical symptoms prior to the red screen however, I cannot confirm or deny that as I had driven less than 1000 miles since I purchased the vehicle. I have no concept of how the braking "should have" felt. The only "symptom" was the technical data anomaly (the 0 actuation count) flagged by an independent shop, which I can attest the dealer refused to investigate fully. On January 24th, 2026, the RED dashboard warning appeared: "Reduced Brake Effect - Start Engine!".Read more

On or about January 22, 2026 when I put my 2019 Ford Flex in reverse the rear view camera displayed a torn and/or flickering picture for the first time ever that I had seen. The image will occasionally stop with an inverted camera image. Since then the camera display on the dash board will at times also display a message saying something like "rear view camera not available" with no camera image
... at all. Occasionally the camera image will be normal intermittently. Moving the transmission select lever to park or other locations besides reverse and back to reverse does not seem to correct the camera image problem. This problem was first noticed in my 2019 Ford Flex on or about January 22, 2026. About 13 months ago I received a recall notice in the USPS mail advising that I would be contacted about the recall for this problem. So far, no contact has been received by me. Now that the camera problem has started in my vehicle trying to back up and avoid obstacles or people has become a large concern due to the blind spot behind the vehicle without the camera working.Read more

Incident date: Nov 4, 2025
While driving, pressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. No warning lights came on until after I attempted to turn the vehicle back on then the check engine light and low oil light were illuminated. My vehicle was towed to a local mechanic and I was informed that the engine was blown and to tow my car to a Hyundai dealership as I was still under the 10 year/100k mile warra

The cleaning did not work and it was then found that a pin was sheared off inside the engine. My engine was then replaced under warranty but I still had to pay for the cleaning. A second mechanic looked over my paperwork after getting my car back 2 months later and noted that the engine failure could have been diagnosed without the cleaning as the cleaning would not have affected where the pin was sheared off. My 2017 Elantra had 90,315 at the time of this incident.Read more

I am reporting a dealership conduct issue that directly affected vehicle safety and caused financial loss. Valley Ford of Columbus, Ohio told me by phone that a specific safety-related part for my vehicle was in stock and available. Based on that representation, I traveled to the dealership and took time away from work. When I arrived, I was told the part was not available and had not been there.
... Shortly after this, I went out of town. During that time, Valley Ford stated they were unable to reach me. After returning, I again contacted Valley Ford and was once more told that the same safety-related part was available. I again traveled to the dealership, taking additional time off work, and once again was told upon arrival that the part was not available. This resulted in the same situation happening twice. Because of this repeated misinformation, I lost wages and hard-earned paid time off (PTO), was delayed in repairing my vehicle, and had to continue driving while waiting for a safety-related component I was told was available. I use my vehicle for work every day for approximately eight hours per day. Being forced to continue operating my vehicle without this safety-related repair places myself and other motorists at risk. After these incidents, I contacted Germain Ford of Columbus, Ohio in an effort to resolve the issue. I was informed that the same safety-related part could take up to eight weeks to become available. This extended delay has further prolonged my inability to complete necessary safety-related repairs and has continued to place me in a potentially unsafe driving situation. I believe this repeated misinformation and prolonged unavailability of a safety-related vehicle component is dangerous and unacceptable. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA is aware of the actions of Valley Ford of Columbus, Ohio and the ongoing delay reported by Germain Ford of Columbus, Ohio.Read more

... of Volvo of Cary advised that the engine was leaking oil and engine failure would occur if we didn't take care of it so we did to a total of $2879.74 which would keep the engine from seizing. That means we paid to prevent exactly what happened anyway and as I found out later he did not perform an oil consumption test so he had no way of knowing the shape the engine was in but charged for this work anyway. The repair invoice says the customer stated oil leaking on timing belt but that is incorrect. I would have no way of knowing that as the only thing i know about cars is replinishg fluids. We did have to replinish oil often and advised Ray of that but he said it was normal. Thank God I was able to get into the slow lane and prevented any accident but my and my daughter's life was certainly put at risk. In May 2025, we received notice that my truck was involved in GM Safety Recall N252494000. In July 2025, a fuel consumption test was performed because the vehicle showed low oil pressure and was 2-1/2 quarts low. Chevolet indicated "consuming oil" was normal; however, I have owned trucks for 25 years and have never "consumed oil". In October 2025, we received notice that we could finally schedule
... the engine inspection at a Chevrolet Dealer of our choice. We scheduled this appointment for Monday, November 17th, 2025. The Picoscope Inspection was performed and the engine passed. They installed new higher viscosity oil, new oil fill cap and insert; but they note that the vehicle had no oil on the dipstick and would like to have another consumption test performed in 2000 miles. The next day, Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, the engine failed. The initial diagnosis was a continuous misfire of cylinder #3 requiring a Valve Lifter Replacement on Left Side. Upon completion of this work, they identified additional issues including spun crankshaft thrust bearing and damage crankshaft journal requiring replacement of the 6.2L engine. The engine failure occured the day after the proposed recall "fix" indicating that the picoscope test and higher viscosity oil is not an effective remedy. I brought up concerns about the consumption of oil multiple times with the Chevy Dealer multiple times and the response is "oil consumption" is considered normal with this engine. Not having my vehicle created significant hardships as I work in construction. I did not have a toneau cover to secure my tools, I did not have the ability to use my toll pass on the highway, I could load construction materials into the rental vehicle, and I had to switch between 4 different rental vehicles during the course of the 65-Day Repair!Read more

**Subject:** Request for Investigation – Dodge Durango Taillight Water Intrusion and Safety Hazard To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally request that the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) investigate a widespread and potentially dangerous manufacturing flaw affecting Dodge Durango vehicles. Both my vehicle and a significant number of other Dodge Durango owners h
... ave experienced a recurring issue where water enters the taillight assembly. This intrusion causes the taillights to malfunction, resulting in the lights going out unexpectedly. This defect not only compromises vehicle safety by reducing visibility and signaling capability, but also poses a risk of further electrical damage. In some cases, owners have reported concerns about potential electrical failures and even fire hazards due to water exposure within the taillight housing. Given the prevalence of this issue among Dodge Durango owners, I strongly urge the NHTSA to conduct a thorough investigation and require the manufacturer to address this defect. Importantly, any corrective action should be provided at no out-of-pocket cost to affected vehicle owners, as this is a clear manufacturing flaw that impacts safety and reliability. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your response and to seeing appropriate action taken to protect consumers and ensure vehicle safety. While driving in 4x4 on a snow covered road, the truck simultaneously got a check engine light as well as several other error messages to include service required to the emergency braking and the trailer brake controller. At the same time, the full exhaust brake engaged without any driver input and caused a sudden slowing of the truck's tires on a slippery surface. The owners manual specifically w

Fortunately I had a lot of weight in the truck when this happened and I was able to control it, but a malfunction that turns on the full exhaust brake, especially while 4x4 is engaged, is dangerous enough that there is a warning in the manual. This happened twice. I had a solid check engine light on, and the following day while waiting for a service appointment, a slew of new warnings were flashing across the screen, locking the transmission in 6th gear, advising the 4x4 was no longer available, and may others. I attempted to shift from drive to reverse, the gear shifter locked itself in park. I shut the truck off to try restarting it and moving it, but there was no power getting to the truck to use the sos button to call for help in a poor cell reception area, no lighting worked while obstructing half of a travel lane on the roadway. Following the incident, the vehicle was taken to an authorized Toyota service facility. After inspection, the vehicle required a full engine replacement. The repair was completed, and the vehicle was returned to me. However, despite the repair, the incident has caused a lasting loss of confidence in the vehicle’s safety for highway operation. My family and I now avoid highway driving due to fear that a similar loss-of-power event could recur. Important Clarifications: • No collision or personal injury occurred, but the situation posed a significant safety risk. • The loss of power occurred at highway speed, not during low-speed or idle conditions. • The vehicle required a complete engine replacement following the incident. • The repair itself does not address the safety concern related to sudden power loss at speed.
