The 2023 Toyota RAV4 8-speed transmission is catastrophically defective and poses an immediate safety hazard. It exhibits severe hesitation, slipping, and lurching when accelerating from a stop or low speed, and when attempting to merge into high-speed traffic (I-15/Las Vegas), creating a high risk of rear-end collisions. During these events, the RPMs spike and fall rapidly but the vehicle fails t

The engine actively fights the braking system, requiring extreme physical force to stop the car and prevent front-end collisions. This lunging has repeatedly triggered the Pre-Collision System, causing the seatbelts to lock and tension against the driver’s body. Additionally, the vehicle exhibits steering resistance and feedback during turns, making it difficult to maneuver safely. The local dealership (AutoNation Toyota Las Vegas) inspected the vehicle and claimed these life-threatening behaviors are "normal" for this model.Read more

Incident date: Mar 17, 2026
I have noticed visible rust forming on the roof, specifically the front drivers side adjacent to the inside edge of the roof rail that runs forward to aft on the vehicle. The same stated rust spot is near where the roof meets the windshield. It is available for inspection upon request. My 2019 Toyota Rav4 along with several other 5th generation Rav4 owners online are experiencing rust in the same
... exact spot. This rust may be a result of the Toyota Customer Service Program (CSP) #22TE05 and T-SB-0016-23 that came of a result of the Fishkind v. Toyota Motor Sales, USA et al. No. Case 2:23-cv-02279 Class Action Lawsuit. This rust may have been formed by the leaking roof rail gaskets that have a slow enough leak rate to penetrate the roof rail clip holes and create moisture and rust over an extended period of time but not high enough of a leak rate to cause excess leakage into the vehicle that would immediately alarm the driver to have the vehicle taken into the dealership for immediate repair before the corrosion and rust can have a chance to spread. After several conversations with Toyota Corporate and my Toyota dealership they have denied me CSP inspection and any coverage or good will assistance through the CSP# 22TE05 & T-SB-0016-23 despite evidence of water residue buildup on the headliner visible through a UV blacklight. Even if the rust is not caused from the roof rail gasket leakage, there are still multiple other instances online of other 5th gen rav4 owners experiencing roof rust in the same exact spot adjacent to the drivers side roof rail near the windshield, which points to a manufacturing defect. My safety will be put at risk when the corrosion worsens and leaks through into the electrical components of the vehicle. My dealership witnessed the rust but denied performing an inspection of the roof rail clips since there is currently visible rust, likely due to the roof rail clips leakage. No manufacturer inspection. No noticeable warning symptoms.Read more

I felt an unnatural vibration and roll to one side of the vehicle when slowing around a curve on the highway which affected my ability to control the vehicle as expected, so I took it to a mechanic specializing in Toyota. The XREAS suspension system has already failed at 36,000 miles and Toyota is refusing to assist since this is out of warranty. However, this is a known issue that you can see m
... any many people are affected by with a quick internet search, and multiple Toyota certified mechanics can confirm this is an issue they see an inordinate amount of failures on. This is a very well publicly documented issue with the XREAS suspension. The XREAS has suffered from early failure for years and Toyota has not and is not addressing it, these vehicles should all be recalled and repaired as they are a danger to the public having cars with non-functional and unsafe suspensions, a critical system for safety in any automobile. Not only are the owners of these vehicles affected, the general public is being put at risk by drivers unknowingly commuting without fully functional suspensions or even being unaware their vehicle may not even pass a basic safety inspection. These are not parts any consumer should or could reasonably expect to fail so early, this is recall worthy based on the danger to public but Toyota clearly will have to be forced to do so. At the very least Toyota should be telling people to lookout for this, it is a safety issue they are trying to avoid. I will replace my own soonest possible because I want to be responsible, unfortunately Toyota is not sharing that want and is instead leaving American citizens at risk of injury and death by knowingly producing and shipping faulty suspensions on one of their best selling vehicles.Read more

I purchased a 2025 Toyota Sienna in May 2025 for use as a family vehicle. In December 2025, I received a safety recall notice from Toyota regarding a weld defect affecting the second-row seat. The recall letter explicitly instructs owners not to use the second-row seat due to a safety risk. This seat is where my daughters normally sit when we travel. Currently, Toyota has informed me that there
... is no available repair remedy, and they cannot provide a timeline for when the issue will be resolved. Because of this recall: •The vehicle cannot be safely used as intended to transport my family. •The manufacturer has acknowledged a safety defect affecting passenger seating. •I am still making loan payments on a vehicle that cannot be fully or safely used. Toyota has provided a rental car, but this is not a long-term solution and does not resolve the underlying safety issue. I am concerned about the structural integrity of the seat weld and the potential risk of seat failure during a crash, which could seriously endanger passengers. Given that this is a family vehicle designed to transport multiple passengers, the inability to use the second-row seat significantly impacts the safety and usability of the vehicle. I am submitting this complaint to request oversight regarding this recall and the lack of an available remedy. Toyota case number: 260211003481 Toyota has stated that no repair is currently available, and owners must wait until a future remedy is developed. I requested a replacement of the vehicle directly to Toyota.Read more

By this time, the TRAC light had already come on also. I managed a space of no vehicles and steered towards the right safety lane. I pulled over at the local truck stop and stoped my truck to rest. After about 5 minutes I tried starting my truck and it wasn’t starting. I am a little mechanically inclined, so I started troubleshooting the truck. My code reader gave these codes: P1605-00, P0300-27, P0300-85, and P0302-00. Unscathed to start the truck after a while and got back on the road. The drive was brutal, as the truck kept burping erratically, but I made it home safely. I took my truck to the mechanic and he did some repairs and told me the issue is the fuel pump. I have checked the recalls for my truck but it shows zero recalls for my truck. Luckily I am alive to report this life threatening safety issue that Toyota has on this model. 2020 Hybrid RAV4 rear liftgate failure. The vehicle has been in no accidents and has never been damaged. Initially, it was a slight misalignment in 2022 and would still latch once opened and closed, but over time, the liftgate itself became separated from the vehicle body and the hinges are visibly bent. Initially presumed the sensor was being blocked somehow as it wouldn’t close as it lowered,
... but over time you could visibly see the alignment was off from the vehicle body. Now the tail lights no longer line up and there is large gapping along the top of the liftgate where it should meet the body of the car. Bent hinges were confirmed at a Toyota dealership and then confirmed at a body shop as well. The body shop informed me that they have seen and repaired this exact issue multiple times and recommended checking with the service center in case of any recalls or TBs. As of 2026 before repairs, the trunk is completely unusable as it has to be forced closed after use which threatens to compromise the structure of the vehicle. If the trunk cannot be latched or opened, it poses a safety hazard as a blocked means of emergency egress as well as a safety hazard of opening on the road if no longer able to latch.Read more
