Vehicle is equipped with start stop system and we have had multiple instances where we come to a stop , and the car will not restart. In the latest instance, we pulled up to stoplight, the start stops system engaged shutting off the engine then wouldn't restart. Car also wouldn't turn completely off, so I had to hit the flashers at the busy intersection, try to get the car into park, then shut co

In this instance most dash lights come on, but it appears to be an engine, electrical, and software issue. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer multiple times, and in once instance they said the issue was caused by a bad battery, mind you the car is slightly over a year old. This latest time, they claimed that the battery was good and no issues were found. This issue continues to put me and my family at risk by leaving us disabled in the middle of traffic especially when it has happened near exiting the freeway,Read more

A metallic clinking/rattling noise developed from the engine/transmission area while the vehicle was running. The issue was diagnosed as a failed flexplate. The flexplate is a critical component that connects the engine to the transmission. Continued operation with a failed flexplate can lead to further mechanical failure and could result in loss of propulsion or inability to move the vehicle, cr
... eating a potential safety risk, particularly in traffic or when acceleration is needed. The problem was confirmed by a dealership service center. The vehicle was still operable at the time, but the noise was persistent and indicated a failure condition. No warning lights or messages were observed prior to the issue. The noise appeared suddenly. The component was replaced during repair. It is unknown if the failed part is available for inspection. There are reports of similar flexplate failures in comparable vehicles, raising concern this may not be an isolated issue.Read more

The driver seat cushion shield failed, the internal plastic brackets and clips broke from normal everyday use. The power seat switches are mounted to the driver seat cushion shield. Since there was no support for the cushion shield, the knobs on the switches that control the power seat would "pop off" and fall under the seat making it impossible for some drivers (especially older and/or overweight
... drivers) to be able to move the seat back in order to escape the vehicle in an emergency thus trapping the driver. This actually happened to me although it didn't happen during an emergency. The power seat knobs had "popped off" while I was driving and when I stopped and tried to get out, I couldn't move the seat back because there were no knobs and I was trapped for a while. I eventually wiggled myself free but if it was an emergency situation like a collision, I would have been trapped. The knobs popped off several times and I would just snap them back on but it was the flexing of the broken seat cushion shield that would push on the knobs from the inside and make them "pop off". I took my car to the dealer for warranty repair, they refused to warranty the repair because "EXTERNAL FORCE" caused the failure. When I asked what "EXTERNAL FORCE" causes the failure, the service advisor stated that JUST BY SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT CAUSES THE DRIVER SEAT CUSHION FAILURE. There is definitely a structural deficiency in their design if the failure is due to everyday normal use. Toyota has had TSB's on Tacoma and Tundra vehicles for their driver seat cushion shields cracking and they've upgraded parts to handle this problem. The problem on the Camry is potentially much more dangerous because the driver can become trapped because the power seat control knobs can pop off while driving.Read more

... dds $4000 to rework the top of the engine. I replaced the spark plugs at 120,000 miles and around the 140,000 mile mark I started noticing the car would occasionally misfire while accelerating. I replaced all 4 coils, and the misfire issue persisted. It is intermittent for now, but indicative of a head gasket failure according to the dealership. The issue is most frequent when accelerating to highway speeds- ie a highway on ramp. One time the misfire put my car into "limp mode" on a tight on ramp, forcing me to restart the car in a dangerous situation. The other time it happened, I was thankfully able to coast downhill to an exit to restart my car. In either case, it created a dangerous loss of power, and given the head gaskets are not a wear item- it should not be the drivers responsibility to replace the faulty part.Read more

Vehicle Safety Complaint – 2021 Ford F-350 I am submitting this complaint regarding a safety-related failure involving my 2021 Ford F-350. While driving under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly entered “limp mode,” resulting in a significant and immediate loss of power. Approximately 20 miles later, the vehicle completely shut down, leaving me stranded and requiring the truck to be towe
... d to Gene Messer Ford for diagnosis and repair. The failure created a potentially dangerous situation, as the loss of power limited my ability to maintain safe speeds and respond to surrounding traffic conditions. After the vehicle was delivered to the dealership, it took approximately one week for inspection and an additional two weeks to complete repairs. During the repair process, I was informed that newly installed components—including the fuel rail and two fuel injectors—were defective and required replacement again. This raises concerns about whether the root cause of the failure was properly identified and whether contamination or systemic failure within the fuel system was present. I am also aware of widely reported issues involving high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failures in Ford diesel engines, which can result in catastrophic damage to the entire fuel system, including injectors, fuel rails, and lines. Given the nature of my vehicle’s failure and the components involved, I am concerned that this incident may be related to a broader, known defect. This type of failure—sudden loss of power followed by complete shutdown—poses a serious safety risk, particularly if it occurs at highway speeds or in high-traffic conditions. I am requesting that this complaint be reviewed as part of a broader investigation into potential fuel system defects in Ford diesel trucks. I believe this issue may warrant further scrutiny and possible recall action to prevent similar incidents.Read more

I am the 2nd owner of my 2016 Ford Escape 1.6L ecoboost, my aunt and uncle were the original owners. Between us we have every maintenance record of every on time and professionally performed requirement the Escape has needed and it ran beautifully. Then, in February 2026 the idle started to get a bit rough and I was preparing to put in the OEM sparkplugs when 3/28/26 the engine overheated, I was s
... tranded on the side of a 45 mph street waiting for it to cool so I could move to safety. Between that incident and 4/29/26 I went thru 9 gallons of coolant, replaced the sparkplugs, put the front end up and "burp' the system as there was constantly air bubbles being introduced from a source I could not find. I had the hoses and clamps inspected, replaced the coolant reservoir and the reservoir cap, the vehicle started to shutter upon starting even after it was warmed up and every day needed to be burped and topped off before and after driving in town but often had no coolant loss during freeway driving, finally 4/28/26 I noticed smoke from the exhaust when I started the car in the morning and that smoke was accompanied by a foul, burnt, electric smell. While burping the air and topping the coolant that morning, the engine sputtered and died 2 separate times. I decided that it was time for a cooling system diagnostics as I still could still see no evidence of an external leak. The Ford technician recorded this tech story. "The vehicle ran rough and smoked for a couple seconds after starting.the vehicle ran its self test and had p0316, b0303, p1299, and p0217. These dtcs relate to cylinder misfire on startup and cylinder misfire and cylinder 3 and over temp/protection being active. ... Incident Details: While traveling on MD-152 (Mountain Road) in Fallston, MD, the vehicle suffered a sudden and complete loss of motive power without any prior warning or dashboard indicators. There were no warning lights, no temperature spikes, and no mechanical noises before the engine seized. This sudden failure occurred in active traffic on a busy road, creating an immediate risk of a rear-end
... collision. Reason for Denial & Safety Risk: The vehicle is currently at a certified Kia dealership. I am being denied a remedy for this catastrophic engine failure due to "insufficient maintenance records." However, the Kia service department has confirmed in writing that "sludge is not a factor" in this case. Mechanically, the absence of sludge proves the engine was not neglected. Manufacturer Failure: After being denied and exploring other avenues, I have learned that the 2017 Sorento 3.3L V6 is covered under Kia Warranty Extension WTY035 (15 years/180,000 miles) for catastrophic engine failure related to head bolt and gasket defects. By using a lack of paperwork to deny a claim for a "sludge-free" engine, Kia is bypassing its safety obligations for a documented manufacturing flaw. I am reporting this as a dangerous "loss of motive power" defect that mirrors existing Kia engine safety recalls across their product line, and warrants federal oversight.Read more
