On about [XXX], I was driving and my engine felt like it missed and my check engine light came on and a message appeared telling me to get remote throttle serviced. The truck began to drive badly and lack of acceleration made it difficult to maneuver in traffic. The truck was very difficult to start and unsafe to pull into traffic due to lagging ability to accelerate. I took it to a Firestone an
... d they pulled the codes and said the crankshaft sensor and crank tone wheel had failed and needed replacing. I decided to take it to a RAM dealer in Franklin TN to confirm the diagnosis. After about a week, they confirmed and said crankshaft sensor and reluctor wheel needed to be replaced. I asked them if it would be covered under the recall (FCA W58) on the known defect of the crank tone wheel delaminating. When the recall occurred, I had the temporary solution of a computer flash done back in 2021, but the actual defective part was not replaced. They reported back to me that the cost of the repair would not be covered. They said my truck was too old, but the defect was discovered while my truck was still under warranty. Also, under a previous FCA lawsuit, they were made to pay truck owners money and extend their warranty. How can they get away with not having to rectify a known defect without fixing the problem? The computer flash simply allowed the vehicle to continue to operate, but it was by no means safe to operate on public streets in traffic. Will the NHTSA make FCA actually fix this problem? On [XXX] at approximately [XXX{}, my new 2025 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss which I purchased from the dealer brand new on [XXX], experienced a sudden catastrophic transmission failure which led to myself nearly being severely injured/possibly killed while driving on a main road in New York; on the way to pick up my two small children. The vehicle while on a main road (state highway) with other vehicl
... es traveling at speeds of 40mph or greater, experienced a sudden mechanical failure that resulted in a complete loss of acceleration, and my vehicle was nearly rear ended by high-speed oncoming traffic behind me. As a medical professional, this is extremely frightening, because a mechanical issue like this could have led to the significant traumatic injuries to myself, my children and others. Upon the vehicle coming to a complete stop in the middle of this main road/state highway, the vehicle was turned back on and then went into a "Limp Mode" and was able to slowly crawl to the dealership which it was purchased from nearby. Luckily with the limp mode and hazard lights, I was able to safely make it to the dealer service department. There was a check engine light that then appeared on the dashboard after the vehicle had come to complete stop on the road, there were no indicators or symptoms that were occurring prior to this event. The vehicle was inspected by the service department of the dealership on 04/15/25, with the result as per the service manager and general manager being a major Transmission component failing- (Valve Body Failure). The service manager and general manager did not tell me if they would send the defective part to the manufacturer for inspection, they seemed more focused on having me leave the dealership and being satisfied with a repaired defective un-safe vehicle. At ~51,000 miles, my 2022 Silverado Trail Boss 6.2L L87 experienced a sudden engine failure while on / exiting the highway. The engine began shaking violently, the check engine light flashed, and it lost all power without warning. It was towed and remained out of service for 28 days. The dealer diagnosed lifter delamination, a scored camshaft, and scored cam, main, and rod bearings. Metal shaving
... s were found in the engine, indicating internal contamination. Despite the severity, the manufacturer approved only an engine overhaul, not a full replacement. The service manager stated, “it’s nearly impossible to get these motors,” pointing to a national shortage due to widespread failures of the 6.2L engine platform. After picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a rattling noise from underneath. I returned to the dealer (who also failed to recharge the AC system). They traced the noise to the catalytic converter and muffler and quoted $2,709.24 to replace the full exhaust system. The manufacturer refused to cover the repair, even though the issue appeared immediately after the engine failure. The dealer did not confirm the exact cause, but possible contributing factors include combustion instability, engine misfires, unburned fuel, and extreme vibration during the failure. These conditions can severely impact the exhaust system and emissions components. I was quoted nearly $4,000 for an extended warranty, which I now feel pressured to buy due to loss of confidence in the engine. Metal debris may have affected the oiling system, injectors, or other critical parts. This raises serious safety concerns: sudden power loss at highway speed, compromised emissions components, and the risk of future failures. With the 6.2L under NHTSA investigation, I believe this incident supports further review or recall.Read more

My 2013 Honda Odyssey is experiencing a serious engine malfunction related to excessive oil consumption and spark plug fouling. On [XXX], the Check Engine Light came on and the vehicle began shaking. A diagnostic inspection at a Honda dealership revealed DTC P0301 (Cylinder 1 Misfire). Three spark plugs in Bank 1 were heavily fouled with oil. The technician recommended piston ring replacement, no
... ting that oil had leaked into the combustion chamber. This issue is consistent with well-known engine problems associated with Honda's VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) system. TSBs such as A13-081 and 11-033 have addressed similar issues in the past, but my vehicle is no longer covered under the extended warranty. I am a low-income international student currently living in the U.S. with my family. This defect creates financial hardship and safety concern. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter as a safety-related engine defect and urge the manufacturer to offer proper recall support. - Mileage at most recent diagnosis: 116,520 miles - Current mileage: 117,300 miles INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

On or about March 10, 2025, I brought my vehicle to Acura of Ocean in Ocean Township, NJ. My infotainment center was crackling continuously, and the screen was black, rendering my navigation system, radio, clock, and Apple CarPlay unusable. The constant crackling, with the screen downloading graphics, and various messages popping up, such as "check tuner" and "network connection lost," is a consta
... nt distraction and annoyance while driving. I have no choice but to use my iPhone, forcing me to take my eyes off the road. The dealer inspected the car and informed me that my amplifier and tuner had water damage from a leak on the tailgate top seal. I paid Acura $258.71 to have the seal replaced. I was told the seal caused the water damage and was given an estimate for $3339.09 to replace both components. I contacted Honda of America because I had learned of a recall of 2019 Acura RDXs for this precise problem. The case manager of Honda got back to me and informed me that Honda of America offered to pay all but $1366.93 to replace the components. I refused the offer because I do not see how I should be liable for any cost. It remains unclear why my VIN did not appear during the recall and why I received no notice of said recall. I strongly feel that Honda's offering me any money is an admission of responsibility/guilt for this problem. If there were no liability, Honda would have offered nothing. I hope to receive communication back from your agency advising what I should do in order to have Honda recognize and admit their error and make good on the repair. Thank you, and please help! Summary of Events: Purchase Date: 05/27/2023 Coolant Warning: In January 2025, I received a coolant temperature warning (code P0126) indicating insufficient coolant temperature. Repairs: I brought the vehicle in for repairs on 02/15/2025 for thermostat and related parts. The repairs were completed by 02/17/2025. New Warning: On 03/18/2025, I received a high coolant temperature warning. Upon in
... spection, coolant was nearly empty, and I found coolant contamination in the engine bay. Notification to Dealership: I emailed Hennessy Mazda on 03/19/2025, but after no response, I filed a claim with Mazda headquarters on 03/20/2025. Only after that, they called me and instructed me to bring the vehicle in. They claimed that after replacing the faulty parts and cleaning the engine bay, the car was ready for pickup. (While they assert that all actions were completed on 03/22, Based on the fact that the car door was opened approximately five times in April, it can be inferred that the necessary actions were likely completed in early April.) Concerns: Coolant Leak: The coolant leak persisted for nearly a month, likely causing damage to internal components due to engine overheating. Electronic Contamination: The leaked coolant likely contaminated sensitive electronic systems, wiring, and connectors, potentially leading to long-term failures due to the conductive and corrosive properties of modern coolants like Mazda FL22. Long-Term Risks: Hidden corrosion inside connectors and wiring. Potential for electrical failure, sensor malfunctions, and further degradation over time. Hennessy Mazda is currently addressing only the visible issues and claiming the car is now functioning properly, while attempting to shift the long-term and hidden risks onto me. I am requesting a vehicle replacement or compensation due to the safety and long-term reliability risks posed by the unresolved coolant leak and contamination.Read more
