We leased a 2023 Infiniti QX60 in May 2023. After the birth of our third child recently in 2025, we discovered that when two car seats are installed in the second row using seat belts (as required), the seats cannot be flipped forward. This makes the third row completely inaccessible without removing the children and car seats each time, our children in the second row would also have to be forwar
... d facing to allow room for our car seat in the rear. Which each child at this point is rear facing and under 50lbs. Our child in the third row cannot enter and exit safely, and we cannot verify if he is buckled in correctly. In the event of an emergency, this poses a serious safety risk. The vehicle’s configuration is not suitable for safe transport of three children using car seats, which is a typical use case for this type of family vehicle.Read more

On May 20, 2025, at approximately 76,100 miles, I attempted to open the fuel filler door on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson and found that it would not release. The car was unlocked and parked, but the fuel door remained stuck. I eventually managed to open it only after a frenzied random sequence of repeatedly pressing the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob while simultaneously pressing on the fuel do
... or. The mechanism finally released after many attempts, but it was inconsistent and unreliable. A second incident occurred on May 26, 2025 at 76,460 miles when I needed to refuel. While I was not stranded, the experience was frustrating and concerning — especially since the vehicle does not appear to have any kind of manual emergency fuel door release. If this issue occurred while low on fuel or far from help, it could lead to a significant inconvenience or hazard. I brought the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership on May 28, 2025 and demonstrated the problem to a Service Advisor. The Advisor that assisted me was unaware of the problem and could not find a recall or Technical Service Bulletin (TSB). Since it is past the 60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, I was told the issue would not be covered; I would have to pay out of pocket. However, I’ve read about other 2022/2023 Tucson owners experiencing similar failures, suggesting a possible design flaw in the fuel door actuator or latch assembly. I believe this should be reviewed as a potential defect. Consistent failures of a basic refueling mechanism across multiple vehicles should be taken seriously.Read more

On 3/21/25 I was informed by Malik's Auto Repair that I need my transmission replaced after a diagnostic of my car making a vacuum noise. After researching, I found that many Nissan vehicles have been experiencing this problem. I contacted Nissan and they informed me that no recall has been made for my make and model. It is a safety issue because at any time the car could stop causing an accide

Nissan stated that this issue was fixed on my car prior to me purchasing it. There is no record of this issue being fixed on Carfax and I paid almost $600 to replace it. Nissan have not assisted me with anything. Now I have to try to come up with the funds for a transmission.Read more

With the Idle Stop feature on (meaning the car will shut the motor off when coming to a stop, but keep electrical equipment working), my Honda Pilot, at random times, will completely lose all power when I come to a complete stop. This results in the car being unable to be operated and can lead to numerous instances of injury or even death. In order to have the car work properly again as it should,
... I have to recrank the car completely. Sometimes the motor turns over without issue, and other times it sounds like it struggles to supply power to crank the car. This was a known issue with Honda, with a recall in place to fix it. I completed this recall in April 2025. As of [XXX] (The same day of the MOST RECENT incident), my Honda Pilot is at Hubert Vester Honda in Wilson, NC for them to troubleshoot the issue further. Per their Maintenance department, Honda has opened up an inquiry further into this issue. My Honda Pilot is a 2024 with less than 23,000 miles on it. The engine coolant pump on my 2016 BMW 4 Series has an open recall (#24V-608), issued in August 2024. It’s been almost a year, and the remedy is still marked as "Not Available." Recently, my check engine light came on. I used my personal OBD-II scanner and retrieved fault code U019F, which indicates “Lost Communication with Engine Coolant Pump Control Module.” This is directly related to th
... e recalled component. I contacted BMW of Bay Ridge in Brooklyn, NY, and they told me I need to pay $335 for a diagnostic, even though I already provided the fault code and it matches the recall issue. They said this is a “standard diagnostic fee,” and they do not offer reimbursement even if it turns out to be related to the recall. BMW North America customer support told me that if a dealership confirms the fault is recall-related, they may try to expedite the remedy. But to get that confirmation, I’m expected to pay out of pocket first — which I find unacceptable since the part is already under an open recall and has now failed. So far, no dealer or service center has inspected the vehicle officially because I don’t want to pay $335 to confirm something I already know. Yes, my safety is at risk — the engine cooling system is compromised, and I’m afraid to drive the car. I feel severely impacted and stuck in a situation where BMW won’t take responsibility unless I pay first. This is unreasonable. I believe BMW should cover diagnostics or offer another way to confirm the issue without forcing owners to pay out of pocket for their known safety defect. I’m requesting NHTSA’s help in resolving this issue.Read more

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a failure of the vacuum pump in my 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. The failure occurred without warning and severely impacted the vehicle’s braking performance, posing a serious safety risk while driving. When the vacuum pump failed, I experienced a hard brake pedal and a significant loss of braking power, which made it difficult to stop the vehicle safely. Than
... kfully, I was not in heavy traffic or approaching a stoplight at high speed when it happened—otherwise, it could have resulted in a serious accident. After researching this issue, I discovered that vacuum pump failures appear to be a recurring problem in other GM vehicles of similar model years. It is extremely concerning that such a critical component could fail prematurely and without adequate warning. I believe this issue should be investigated for a potential defect and safety recall. I urge the NHTSA to look into this matter to ensure the safety of other drivers who may be at risk due to this defect. Thank you for your time and attention.Read more

Received safety recall October 2024 stating vehicle may crash - have not received any further notice about repairs
Incident date: Dec 20, 2023
Q: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? A: My 2014 Kia Soul "threw a rod" (as confirmed by a Kia dealer in Jan 2025) at only 115,773 miles after years of regular (every 3-5K miles) maintenance. I bought the car used in 2017 and have documentation to show the maintenance for the subsequent years. The particular motor at issue is know
... n by mechanics to have problems (according to my own mechanic and at least two others with whom I have communicated, as well as on-line research). However, there is no active recall on it, and the car is "out of warranty." As of the date of this complaint, the car currently is available for inspection upon request. Q: How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? A: It is my understanding that throwing a rod is a catastrophic engine failure and can result in loss of control of the vehicle, potentially leading to accidents, as the engine may seize or lose power abruptly. Furthermore, the broken rod can cause the engine to explode, leak oil, or punch a hole in the engine block, posing a risk of fire or further damage. I am lucky that I noted a reduction in engine power and my engine light and took it in for assessment before anything worse occurred. Q: Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? A: I brought my vehicle into a dealer in January 2025, where they diagnosed the problem. Q: Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? A: No Q: Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A: Yes. The engine light came on and I had it checked by my mechanic and the dealer.Read more

I am writing to formally report a series of serious structural concerns we are experiencing with our Grand Design Momentum 349M fifth wheel/toy hauler, which appear to be related to excessive frame flex/failure or upper deck instability. These issues began toward the end of last year and have progressively worsened, raising significant safety concerns for our family. The following symptoms have
... been observed: * Bay and Propane Doors Opening During Transit Both the bay door and propane doors on either side of the trailer have opened unexpectedly while towing on the highway, posing a major safety hazard. * Loud Cracking Sounds from Front Driver’s Side Wall We consistently hear loud cracking noises from the front driver’s side wall during towing and hitching, suggesting structural stress or movement. * Exterior Trim Separation The exterior trim pieces repeatedly separate during travel, despite multiple attempts to re-secure them with bolts. * Cabinetry Movement in Front Cap Sleeping Area Most concerning, the cabinetry in the front cap—where our 8-year-old son sleeps—visibly shifts forward and backward during towing and hitching. This movement is both alarming and unacceptable from a safety standpoint. We have documented these issues with photos and video evidence, which are enclosed with this message. Please ensure the volume is turned up when reviewing the video to hear the structural noises clearly. My 2023 F150 has been having issues with the key fob connecting to the vehicle and responding to commands (unlock/lock, remote start etc). While standing outside the vehicle from a distance of about 10 feet I attempted the remote start function with no success approximately five times. On the last att

Once inside the vehicle I confirmed that the parking brake had been released. I was ultimately able to get the truck started and driving in a normal condition. The parking brake has not malfunctioned since. The key fob / truck connection continues to malfunction to various degrees. Sometimes no response, sometimes no remote start, sometimes the truck will be running and display a dashboard message indicating the key fob is not present leaving the truck running but “locked” in park. During this parking brake incident the vehicle was parked and locked with the parking brake set as normal (on or about May 10 , 2025). It was on level ground in a parking lot. No other vehicles were parked near mine. It was morning time, the truck was “cold” after being parked all night. No other unusual condition were noted. Weather conditions were dry and mild (50 degree temperatures). The remote connection issues have been going on about 6-8 months. I have replaced the battery in the remote 2x with no improvement. The vehicle has been inspected by the selling dealer once for the fob with no results (April 17, 2025). I have an appointment for the latest issues on June 2 2025. The torque converter is failing it seems this is far too common and dangerous with all Buick enclaves for this year. The vehicle shakes when applying the gas not having the power it needs to keep a steady speed without shaking. A mechanic stated the torque converter is bad known as the “GM shutter”

5/22/2025, Thursday morning I unplugged my car that was parked inside my garage. I sat down, tapped the pedal to turn on my “ignition mode” and within a few moments my windshield shot a massive flame in front of me and began sparking shooting glass from both heating elements. Glass shards landed on my hood and garage floor. My windshield was smoking and the amount of heat generated melted some
... of the glass around the area where the heating elements connect to the glass on the interior of my vehicle. My dealership fought me hard saying I had a crack that caused the fire and advised me to file an insurance claim for this “accident” and also continuing driving my vehicle that had just caught fire momentarily. Thankfully the fuse blew and that’s why the fire stopped but my concern is how much heat had to be generated to spontaneously combust my glass and then melt it! I refused to accept their response and after an entire day of arguing with VW customer support and the dealership. I repeatedly asked for a diagnostic of my windshield heating element module and the amount of electricity it was giving. The dealership declined to diagnose my car and removed the heated windshield fuse per my request. I spoke with the dealership owner who finally contacted their field service advisor who advised I should not drive my vehicle that caught fire and instead are going to further investigate my concern. I struggle to trust an actual investigation will be performed and hope they do not simply replace the windshield and ignore the safety hazard of my window shooting a flame and combusting glass.Read more
