Now in July it happened again and this time I had my wife and child with me in the car as well as a guest. I had to pull over and all the warning lights started to flash (everyone of them). I have taken it back to Honda but having a car that goes from 65mph to 25mph on the highway with no warning to others is a recipe for disaster. Apparently this is a known issue with the hybrid system and the battery needs replaced (from online honda forums) which Honda is not doing unless forced. I am still waiting for my dealer to get back to me but its exactly the same problem as the other notes I saw online. My car only has 46,000 miles.Read more

I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved and hazardous safety issue tied to a federally mandated recall on my 2015 Honda Accord (Recall #KH0 – Battery Management Sensor). The recall was eventually performed, but only after inappropriate pushback from the dealer due to my vehicle having a salvage title — which is irrelevant under federal recall law. ... gulates the electrical system and can cause overcharging or undercharging — which in my case, led to premature alternator failure. Honda’s own Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 17-069) acknowledges the link between BMS failure and electrical system damage. Furthermore, Honda’s own documentation acknowledges that many customers — particularly used car or private party buyers — were never properly notified of the Battery Management Sensor (BMS) recall. As a result, these customers may be unjustly denied warranty or reimbursement claims, through no fault of their own. This applies directly to my case. I had already replaced the alternator out of pocket due to failure, long before I was ever informed of the recall. Once I became aware of the issue and brought the car in, I was relieved that Honda performed the BMS recall repair, which resolved the dashboard alerts. However, it is unfair and unacceptable that Honda refuses to cover the damage the faulty system caused prior to the recall being completed — especially when I was never properly notified in the first place. This places the financial burden of a known safety defect onto the customer, despite the existence of a federally mandated recall directly linked to the damage.Read more

This is not the first time the car has issued sudden warning messages stating certain systems had failed only to be cleared by restarting the car. I have taken the car to the dealer before to have them research the issue but they say errors cannot be replicated. However, this was the first time Engine control message posted and was the first time the car lost power and put me in danger of not being able to control the car's speed in traffic. I have lost faith in the car's control systems. I can live with lack of cruise control or lane keeping, but I cannot tolerate sudden lack of power than can cause an accident. It says in the manual that adaptive cruise control sometimes doesn't detect lines properly but when taking control the vehicle shouldn't continue to steer into a ditch. The Ford dealership were not able to get the same results because how can they when this problem doesn't happen all the time? No warning lights appeared prior to the incident. My safety was severely at risk as the vehicle left the roadway and struck rocks and brush. Had another car or pedestrian been present, this could have caused serious injury or death. Toyota’s Product Liability Team and a contracted engineering analyst inspected the vehicle and retrieved Event Data Recorder logs showing 100% brake pedal application with inadequate deceleration. Toyota confirmed the brake master cylinder was low and the left rear caliper was leaking fluid but denied responsibility, citing system limitations. The vehicle was declared a total loss by my insurance company (Progressive) and inspected by an authorized body shop. I have extensive documentation, including Toyota’s denial letter and the diagnostic report, which are available for review. The component that failed is the camshaft position actuator. My check engine light came on. Had my vvt solenoids replaced and the mechanic told me the actuator needs replacing. GM has issued a special bulletin to fix this part for the same year make and model as my truck but my vin doesn’t meet the criteria. I have only owned this vehicle for 8 months.

On a sudden the vehicle RPM unintended rev up too high and the vehicle had an unintended accelerating to move forward aggressively causing lose control of the steering . Also she could not brake even though her left foot was on the brake pedal and pressing hard to try to stop the vehicle . . This dangerous incident causing her Prius to bumped into the electrical gate panel control box . The accident caused some damages to her Prius and to the entrance gate control box though no body was hurt . But it got us through the terrible experience because it could kill some one for sure . My daughter been driving this commute car daily in the past 5 years and she has the skill of 20 year driving with good record . This Prius of her still have all OEM equipments with no add- on parts-,no modifying part on any systems what so ever- and NO extra floor mat cause we been warned before about the possible of unintended acceleration causing by aftermarket floor mat to any vehicles. . We feel unsafe after the mystery accelerating problem on Toyota Vehicle that could take people lives . So the mystery unintended accelerating on car is REAL . I am currently checked and find out her Prius has 2 incomplete recalls (un-notice to us ) but none of them related to the unintended acceleration problem . We would like the NHTSA to take this problem seriously to save people life . I understand it’s a luxury brand but these engines are well known for these issues and nothing is done other than some warranty extension for failing turbos which are also terrible and I believe to be the CAUSE of this thrown bearing, I have owned so many Nissans and will most likely never own another after this mistake. My Prius is just 5,470 miles over Toyota’s 150,000-mile coverage cap, and despite confirming the exact codes, the dealership refused to repair unless Toyota pays first. Both front struts and bearing plates failed at 75k miles. They were leaking oil before that mileage. Approximate date of failure was 1/5/24. No parts were available until now. ... uick steering maneuvers. The bounce also made it so that typical driving within the city is dangerous as the bounce makes the car difficult to control. This is an issue that is documented on Toyota forums for FWD models. An accident has not been caused by this failure as of yet. Vehicle will be repaired soon. Mechanic was finally able to get two factory struts and bearing plates. Each strut is $200 and mounting plates are about $150 each. Parts + labor are expensive, but at least now it will be fixed.Read more
