Lane departure front facing projection camera suddenly went out disabling multiple safety features of the car. The part number for the car is 36160-TG8-A83. This car only has ~86,000 miles and this is unacceptable. This failure disables the Lane keep assist, lane departure, auto high/low beam, adaptive cruise control, auto braking safety features and causes the brake light system light to come

My wife was driving her car home from work when her car suddenly overheated in light traffic. She pulled over and called me. I came by and we saw that the coolant level was low, so we filled it up to the normal level and she drove it another 20 minutes back to our home. She said it was shuddering the whole way back. I started it in the driveway later that evening and a large amount of white smoke
... came out of the exhaust pipe and the engine still seemed to be misfiring. I tried starting it again the next day and it would crank but not start. It seems to be an issue with the engine, my guess is a ruptured head gasket. The shuddering caused by the misfires made the car unstable to drive especially if it died while she was at speed with other cars around. The car was towed to a dealer over 30 days ago and they said that it may be related to the open recall, but they won't know until they tear it down. Which they still haven't done. There were no engine codes or prior lamp indications until the overheating event.Read more

Our vehicle started making a knocking noise when being driven. We took it to the dealer for routine maintenance as well as to assess the noise. The dealership diagnosis is that the piston rods are knocking against the cylinder wall, causing a lot of metal shavings/glitter to be found in the oil. The service rep referred us to a recall for other vehicles of the same make and model for connecting ro
... d bearings that can lead to the same mechanical failure. The issue can lead to an engine failure which can increase the risk of a crash, fire, or injury. The vehicle is currently available for inspection. The diagnosis from the dealership was based on the metal shavings in the oil, the noise that the engine made, and the recall of other similar vehicles. The engine has not yet been taken apart to confirm the damage. We are waiting on Honda corporate to give the go ahead for that. No warning lights or other dashboard messages have appeared.Read more

On September 4, 2025, I brought my 2001 Toyota Tundra to Midas at 5325 Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80002 for an oil change and inspection. Midas advertises a “Closer Look Vehicle Check,” which includes checking steering, suspension, and wheels. Their inspection report marked the steering system as “OK” and only noted mild shock wear. Less than a month later, while exiting the highway,
... the lower ball joint failed completely, causing the front suspension and wheel to detach. I immediately lost steering control. Fortunately, this occurred at low speed; had it happened moments earlier on the highway, it could have caused a major collision or fatalities. The failed component (lower ball joint and related suspension parts) is still available for inspection. An independent mechanic later confirmed that the joint was severely worn and the failure appeared to be due to long-term deterioration that should have been detected during Midas’s inspection. No warning lights or indicators appeared before the failure. The incident endangered my life, my passengers’ safety, and other drivers on the road. The business has refused to take responsibility or cover repair costs, which currently total over $2,400, despite their advertised inspection and guarantee. This raises serious concerns that Midas and potentially other service locations may be failing to properly inspect critical suspension components, which poses a major public safety hazard.Read more

When braking — both at low speeds and when slowing from highway speeds (40+ mph) — vehicle feels like engine revs and is still pushing against the brakes. Had an oil change on September 29th. The mechanic brought to my attention metal shavings in the oil and advised that I should get rid of the car because it won’t last much longer. It drove fine for a day until the next afternoon I was driving on the highway with my children and the engine started knocking loudly. The car stopped accelerating past 45 mph. I was close to my house fortunately but b
... arely made it as it sounded like the engine would blow. It is now sitting in my driveway still knocking when I start it and don’t feel safe driving it anywhere. There were 0 warning lights. I was not aware of the engine issues these cars had until I did some research and looks like it’s very common. Seeing some people had luck getting replacement engines in the past and many others not. This needs to be addressed and Hyundai needs to be held responsible for the awful oil consumption issue resulting in failing engines. We should not have to provide proof of maintenance when clearly this is an issue regardless.Read more

There is a strong smell of gas in the passenger compartment and a very strong smell of gas gas on the drivers side near the rear tire. The Chevy dealer has confirmed the the gas smell is due to a know defect where the fuel pump develops cracks in the housing because of the poor quality plastic used. The dealer estimates that it will cost between $3,000 to $4,000 to repair. This is a very dangerous
... problem. I'm afraid with the very strong smell of gas that an electric spark might cause the car to explode or when it's stored inside cause a vehicle and structure fire. Why has the NHTSA not made GM do a recall for this defect. It is a very serious problem. Owners of any C6 corvette are sitting on a time bomb and their life is in danger. The design of the emergency opening (No power to normal opening system) of the rear passenger doors is flawed, unsafe and should never have been approved for production. This rear door emergency opening requires an occupant to reach below the seat, remove carpet and pull a manual release cable. During a fire with smoke in the passenger compartment, an occupant may not be able to visually locate th
... e release cable, and has a much higher chance of becoming incapacitated and dying from smoke inhalation, as demonstrated in a Tesla Cybertruck accident with multiple smoke inhalation deaths in California Thanksgiving 2024. Another potential scenario is a frontal impact causing a front seat to move rearward, reducing the floorboard space between the front seat and access to the carpet and release cable. This system needs to be redesigned for this vehicle. If I had known about this system prior to purchase, it would have negatively impacted my buying decision.Read more

Vehicle has just over 62,000 miles on it and is just out of warranty. On [XXX] I was driving home from Colorado and the 10r80 transmission hesitated downshifting for a few seconds when climbing a hill and let out a very loud banging sound which shook the whole truck. Shortly after, the transmission tried to downshift and upshift on it's own repeatedly and would not transfer power at all. I quickly
... shifted it into neutral and pulled to the side of the road. This was really sudden and happened with no warning at full highway speeds(75 mph) on [XXX] southbound. If my wife would have been driving, I am not sure she would have been able to react as quickly. She wouldn't have realized what was happening. This could have easily resulted in a serious or life threatening accident. The leaking fluid also caused a sigificant amount of smoke on the underside of the vehicle as it dripped on the exhaust system. I quickly shut the vehicle off realizing it could catch on fire, but someone may not realize this as a possibility in the moment. I currently have the vehicle at a local transmission shop who has rebuilt several of these Ford 10r80 transmissions. His opinion, which will be verified by the teardown process as he rebuilds it, is that there are several common failure points which should have already been recalled by Ford in these transmissions. #1. The CDF drum which holds the clutch packs is machined in a way which allows the seal to slip and cause falure. #2. The valve body is know to wear prematurely which causes movement and leakage contributing to failure. #3. The high pressure pump is also a known failure point which can cause downstream shift issues and failure. Vehicle Information: 2026 Tesla Model Y Mileage: ~2,700 miles Purchased: July 2025 Complaint Description: I purchased a brand new 2026 Tesla Model Y in July 2025. At only 6 miles, the car already had an antenna issue that required a week in service. Now, at just 2,700 miles, the air conditioning has completely failed — no airflow at all. This failure occurred suddenly and without warning. The
... Tesla Tampa Service Center offered no immediate assistance, only an appointment in 4 days, with no loaner or alternative support. This situation creates a serious safety hazard, especially in Florida where summer temperatures routinely exceed 95°F. Driving or sitting in a vehicle without functional air conditioning in such heat places both the driver and passengers at risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, or heat stroke, particularly for children. It is unacceptable for a brand-new vehicle at this price point to experience such a critical failure so early. The lack of timely support from Tesla’s service department further compounds the danger. Safety Concern: Loss of air conditioning in high-heat environments like Florida represents a direct safety risk to occupants and should be investigated as a potential defect. Desired Outcome: I request that NHTSA investigate whether similar failures are occurring in other Tesla Model Y vehicles and determine if this is a wider defect that warrants corrective action or a recall.Read more

I am submitting a complaint regarding my 2017 Kia Cadenza related to an ongoing airbag system failure and Kia’s refusal to cover the repair under their existing airbag warranty extension. My VIN is included in Kia’s WTY027 warranty extension, which extends coverage for repairs related to the Airbag Warning Light illumination from 5 years/60,000 miles to 15 years/unlimited miles. Despite this
... , Kia Affairs has denied coverage because the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) pulled by the dealership do not “exactly match” the codes listed in the extension, even though the warning light is on and the issue affects the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Kia Affairs acknowledged the problem and escalated the case to their District Parts & Service Manager (DPSM) for possible goodwill coverage. However, goodwill is discretionary and not guaranteed, leaving me potentially responsible for expensive labor costs on a federally required safety system. My Concerns: The airbag light remains illuminated, which means the airbags may not deploy in a crash — a critical safety hazard. Kia’s decision to exclude legitimate SRS failures because the DTCs do not exactly match their list undermines the purpose of the warranty extension. Owners whose VINs are included in the extension are still being denied coverage based on technicalities, despite facing the same safety risk. Requested Action: I request that NHTSA investigate whether Kia’s narrow, code-based coverage criteria is improperly excluding safety-related airbag failures that should be repaired under the warranty extension. This appears to leave consumers unprotected from a defect in a federally regulated safety system. I can provide: The dealership’s diagnostic codes and repair order. Correspondence from Kia Affairs regarding the denial. Warranty extension documentation showing my VIN is included. Thank you for your time and attention to this matterRead more
