This presents a safety issue when the vehicle is driven as the slide will expand on its own with the driver having no way to control the expansion and keep the slide from moving outward on its own. Our greatest concern is for the safety of the motorhome passengers with unstable parts and the cars/vehicles in the lanes next to the motorhome when the slides expand randomly while traveling. There is no warning light and no way to know how far the slide may expand. We have read 100s of posts online from owners of 2022 Tiffin motorhomes who have the same issue and have yet to be given a permanent solution to the slides expanding on their own. Lippert needs to provide a permanent and safe solution to the defective slides for the safety of all considered. This is in reference to NHTSA #21V-921. We received a recall letter from Daimler Trucks indicating that an inner rear tire support grommet and valve extension needs to be removed due to the possibility that the support grommet will fall out resulting in the potential failure of the inner tire valve extension. Daimler issued a similar recall in 2020 which was related to the same issue but the r
... emedy was to replace and or reinstall the grommet. In our case a service center installed the grommet and used RTV to hold it in place. The recall states that if the grommet is not removed the Owner takes on the liability for a failure. The issue with the removal of the extension and grommet make it impossible to use a cap based tire monitor sensor since the chassis was not equipped with internal tire sensors. This creates another safety issue in that the inner tires cannot be monitored. Daimler has not provided an option to have internal sensors installed along with a means to monitor the pressure.Read more

I performed a visual inspection of my front and rear sway bar brackets since I had heard that bolts are coming loose within 1,5k - 3k miles on the 2021 F53 chassis. I found that the rear sway bar bushing bracket on the driver's side was broken, and the bushing was missing. It appears that the lower bolt on the bracket had fallen out or was never installed and consequently created undo force on the
... bracket causing it to break in half. I am replacing both of the brackets on the rear sway bar, bushings, bolts and nuts. In addition, I will be applying blue locktite threadlock and torquing bolts to 184 ft/lb as recommended in the manufacturers repair manual. This problem is a safety hazard due to excessive sway after bolts come loose. In addition, the parts falling off on the road is hazardous to vehicle passengers following behind. I am concerned since this seems to be a common problem based on blogs and Facebook posts from other Motorhome owners recently purchasing a motorhome on the new F53 chassis.Read more

DEF sensor was faulty and could have caused vehicle to not exceed 5MPH. If it had happened on an interstate or other major highway, it would be a major safety concern! The DEF sensor had to be replaced. My understanding is that this can also be caused by surpassing the DEF fluid "shelf life" and, unlike diesel trucks, motorhomes are often stationary for extended periods. The failure was indica

DEF "Head" sensor failure resulting in power reduction to 5%. Due to faulty def head sensors the vehicle will experience power loss dropping to 5% load. DEF continues to be supplied to the exhaust meeting all EPA regulations in place at this time, BUT the Engine ECU will shut you down leaving you stranded. Probl
... ems with micro chip shortages have left many stranded with nothing in place to help them get "home".. We are talking weeks to Months in some cases only to have the def head finally replaced only to fail again with in a couple thousand miles. Emissions are not effected, but "Shaw Development" (DEF Head manufacturer ) Nor Cummins (engine manufacturer) has not done anything to prompt the EPA to allow a work around for this problem. Emergency Response vehicles do have programing in their ECU which allow them to operate normally until new parts are available. Why not for the thousands of Motor Home owners as well as over the road trucks which are effected as well. RV Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF Head) Sensor failure. This failure rendered our RV broken down and undriveable ("derate" mode of 5 mph) roughly 1,500 miles from home, on the freeway, in approx. 105 degree weather. We had our family with us & our dog. Note; we did NOT have a tow vehicle to transport us to a safe area. This constituted a VERY UNSAFE TO FATAL CONDITION / SITUATION!!! Typically, RV's a
... re not operated on a daily, or even weekly basis such as big rig trucks by truckers. That being stated, the DEF (diesel exhaust fuel) lifespan is greatly shortened (contaminated, crystallized) if not used on a regular basis. -Being that these Diesel Exhaust Fuel Sensor failures have been occurring & re-occurring at a astronomical rate across the country, we firmly believe that RV's should be exempt from requiring DEF / DEF Sensors, period. Please do not wait until there is a FATALITY, OR POSSIBLE GREATER FATALITIES before making this change retroactive for all RV's nationally.Read more

The motorhome will go into Check Engine and Low DEF fluid mode with the proper level of fluid in the tank. Once it went into the Limp Mode with the Red Check Engine light coming on without any warning. I had to get the motorhome towed to a service center. After the service center performed work to clear the code, I was able to drive it for 40 mins before the Check Engine light came on again....

WE ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE SIDING CRACKING ON OUR TIFFIN ALLEGRO OPEN ROAD 36. AFTER RETURNING FROM A PERIODIC MAINTENANCE SESSION AT LAZYDAYS RV DEALERSHIP (SEFFNER, FL) AND SETTLING IN AT OUR CAMPGROUND IN LAKELAND FL, WE NOTICED ON JANUARY 17, 2021 THAT OUR CAMPER DISPLAYED AN APPROXIMATELY TEN-INCH-LONG CRACK IN THE SIDING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, JUST TO THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER OF THE SLI
... DE OUT ON THAT SIDE (SEE PICTURE). WE EMAILED TIFFIN'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WHICH RESPONDED BY SAYING THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF SIMILAR ISSUES AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR ITS REPAIR. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE LAZYDAYS EFFECT THAT REMEDY. SCHEDULING CONCERNS DICTATED THAT THE APPOINTMENT WAS NOT UNTIL MAY 3, 2021. IN THE MEANTIME, WE REMAINED IN PLACE AT OUR LAKELAND CAMPGROUND. UPON OUR RETURN TO LAZYDAYS, THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE POINTED OUT THAT A SECOND NEW CRACK HAD DEVELOPED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, TRAILING FROM BELOW THE PASSENGER WINDOW HEADING TOWARDS THE DOOR FRAME (SEE PICTURE). THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID HE HAD WORKED A SIMILAR ISSUE RECENTLY ON ANOTHER TIFFIN OPEN ROAD IN WHICH TIFFIN PAID FOR THE REPAIR. WE ALSO NOTED THAT THE FIRST CRACK WE IDENTIFIED HAD SEPARATED FURTHER. AT THIS TIME, WE BECAME CONCERNED ABOUT THE OUTER BODY DELAMINATING WHILE DRIVING. TIFFIN HAS YET TO PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION CONCERNING THIS. IN ADDITION, TIFFIN'S LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE AT LAZYDAYS REFUSED TO OFFER SUFFICIENT WARRANTY ASSISTANCE TO PAY FOR BOTH CRACKS. HE ALSO SAID, WITHOUT HAVING LOOKED AT OUR RV, THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE FROM TAMPA UP TO ITS FACILITIES IN RED BAY, AL. WE EXPRESSED OUR CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THAT FAR, GIVEN THAT THESE TWO APPARENTLY STRUCTURAL CRACKS DEVELOPED AFTER THE TWO SHORT 25 MILE DRIVES BETWEEN OUR LAKELAND CAMPGROUND AND LAZYDAYS. WE CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN DURING A SEVERAL HUNDRED-MILE JOURNEY.Read more

THE EPA CAME OUT WITH REQUIREMENTS IN 2013 THAT ALL DIESEL ENGINES HAVE A POLLUTION MITIGATING DEF (DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID) SYSTEM. APPARENTLY, THE EPA REQUIRED THE INDUSTRY TO MEASURE THE FOLLOWING THREE ITEMS WITH RESPECT TO BLUE DEF. - LEVEL OF DEF - TEMPERATURE OF DEF - QUALITY OF DEF I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE EPA GRANTED AN EXTENSION OF THE THIRD REQUIREMENT, QUALITY OF DEF, SINCE NO ONE CO
... ULD MANUFACTURE THE EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO DO SO. THIS EXTENSION APPARENTLY LASTED UNTIL 2017. THESE DEF SENSORS BEING INSTALLED ARE FAILING AT AN ALARMING RATE, MANY WITHIN ONLY A FEW MILES. WHEN DEF SENSORS FAIL THE ENGINE CAN GO INTO DERATE MODE WHICH IS 5 MPH. THIS PROBLEM IS LEAVING MANY LARGE DIESEL ENGINE OWNED VEHICLES STRANDED, FROM MOTORHOMES TO LARGE OVER THE ROAD TRUCKS. CURRENTLY, THE ONLY COMPANY THAT MAKES THE DEF SENSORS IS SHAW DEVELOPMENT. SHAW DEVELOPMENT WILL NOT TAKE CALLS OR EMAILS REQUESTING INFORMATION REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. AGAIN, THE DEF SENSOR REQUIREMENT WAS A REGULATION PASSED BY EPA IN 2013, STATING THE DEF CONCENTRATION (QUALITY) BE MEASURED IN THE DEF TANKS OF VEHICLES. HOWEVER, THE DEF SENSOR MANUFACTURERS CANNOT SEEM TO MANUFACTURE A PART THAT IS RELIABLE AND NOT PUT ENGINE INTO A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DERATE MODE. SHAW DEVELOPMENT IS CURRENTLY ON THE SIXTH GENERATION OF THE DEF SENSOR WHICH ARE STILL FAILING ON BRAND NEW 2021 VEHICLES. THAT IS SIX ATTEMPTS TO MAKE A PART THAT CONTINUES TO LEAVE PEOPLE STRANDED. I HAVE NO ARGUMENT WITH THE NEED FOR THIS SMOG REDUCING MITIGATION EQUIPMENT. WHAT I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH, IS THE EPA REQUIREMENT TO MEASURE THE QUALITY OF DEF WHEN NO ONE CAN PRODUCE A RELIABLE PRODUCT TO DO SO, AND THE EFFECT THAT IT IS HAVING ON THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK THAT YOU REQUEST THE EPA TO SUSPEND THIS REQUIREMENT UNTIL SOMEONE CAN PRODUCE A RELIABLE PRODUCT TO MEASURE THE QUALITY OF DEF.Read more
