The auto close feature on the Tesla Model X can quite dangerous. I’ve been hit by it unexpectedly closing several times. The most recent time, the rear trunk closed on me while I was taking out my grocery bag out of it. It hit my forehead, and I got a major bump. I ask NHTSA to investigate if there’s a manufacturer defect, so us Tesla owners are not further injured.

I own a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4. The SERVICE 4WD light came on a few weeks ago. After research and several mechanic's input, I was told the problem was the PTU, and, since Jeep no longer makes the part, I was given the quote of $2700-$3200 to replace the PTU with a remanufactured part with only a one year warranty. According to the mechanics, when driving with a broken PTU it may cause
... damage to the drive shafts. transmission and axles, which, in turn can break while in use, leading to a very dangerous situation. I was told that I should put the Jeep in two wheel drive manually and drive it like that, but my shifter doesn't have that option. It shifts automatically. So, I have a bad PTU, but my VIN doesn't have a recall, and there are several people with the same problem, according to the NHTSA site. I am filing this complaint so the NHTSA will step in and require the manufacturer to further the recall to include ALL of the VINs with defective PTUs and make them safer to drive. Yes, the vehicle is available to inspect at your convenience.Read more

I own a 2018 Tesla Model S. While it was still under warranty the passenger side door handle quit working and it was no longer possible to open that door. Tesla replaced the door handle at no change with a newly designed mechanism. It was explained to me that they redesigned the mechanism which had a high failure rate, and my car handles would no longer be installed in later cars. I asked if they

I left my house & was driving my truck down the highway for about 2.5 miles. All of a sudden the engine locked up & the battery went dead. I barely coasted off the opposite side of the road where the closest side road is & a semi pasted shortly after. I felt very lucky my truck made it off on the side road instead being run over by the semi truck. I then had to call a weaker & have it towed to the
... local dealership that services GMC trucks. After 4 days I finally got the worst news, the truck needs a new 6.2 engine. My 2023 GMC Sierra AT4 with 38k miles had an engine that locked up & I was flabbergasted. I started searching this issue on the internet & couldn’t believe how common this is & nothing has been done about this. I would assume a recall from GM would be appropriate considering the sheer number of 6.2 liters engines having issues over & over. This is absolutely unacceptable. I could have been seriously injured or even worse killed by the negligence of GM on this issue. I get it, GM made a mistake with this 6.2 engine and it’s going to cost a lot of money but my research tells me this appears to have been happening for a few years. As I sit here today my truck is sitting in a dealer lot with a busted engine & a new one is on backorder. I am currently driving a dealer “loaner” Chevy trailerblazer. It could be weeks or months before I finally get word on another 6.2 engine replacement from GM. I own a small farm and do not have a truck to haul hay or feed for horses. Can the National highway administration please help me? I thought I was buying a dependable 2023 GMC sierra 1500 AT4 & instead bought a lemon. Apparently hundreds of thousands of other 6.2 liter engines like mine are a HUGE safety hazard & should be recalled. This seems like an open & shut case & after reading into the matter I can’t believe Gov. organizations like the National Highway safety administration has not did more and let GMs 6.2 liter engine contine on. What’s left to investigate?Read more

The engine block (2.3L ecoboost) has a coolant intrusion into cylinder 3 causing it to miss fire and overheat. This problem almost left my wife and child stranded on the side of the road. If she hadn't had a safe place to pull over to allow the vehicle to cool down it could have had a catastrophic failure while driving. The dealer pressure tested the coolant system and showed leak in the coolant s
... ystem. They then removed the number 3 spark plug and scoped the cylinder finding coolant inside cylinder. This coolant leak caused the miss fire and the overheating. Prior to failure the only thing that happened was that the number 3 cylinder had a miss fire. At this time the spark plugs and ingnition coil pack was replaced only to have the problem start up again a few days later. The number 3 and 4 ignition coil pack was then switched and codes cleared. The miss fire for number 3 then showed up again. At this time we set an appointment up with the dealer to look at the issue. Two days before the apointment the engine overheated. We were able to get the vehilce to the dealer and they diagnosed the coolant intrusion into the number 3 cylinder. Prior to the over heat the only warning was the miss fire for number 3 cylinder. No other warnings or codes were available for the engine. Upon researching this issue I found that it was a known issue and that Ford had an extended powertrain warranty for some customers under the customer satisfaction program. However, upon contacting Ford they said that my vehicle was not listed as a candadate for this extended warranty option.Read more

2019 F-150 vehicle is equipped with a 5.0L engine that exhibit excessive oil consumption, to where every month i have to add oil. There are no visible oil leaks. Each time i go for oil change before the 3 months and/or recommended 3,000 miles, im told there is no oil in the engine. After doing research, i found that the issue of excessive oil consumption is caused by high intake manifold vacuum du

The revised PCM calibration reduces engine vacuum during some DFSO events. After calling local ford service center, the issue was confirmed and I was told that there isn't a fix for the problem. The mechanic had to send part of my engine out to a machine shop to be re-drilled properly in order to fix the issue which was very costly. After driving over 15k miles in approximately one year, my 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid fuel tank has never been filled with more than 12 gallons of gas, even when the Low Fuel light is on and the miles to empty are less than 10. Inaccurate fuel level sensing is a safety issue. 10.3 MPG for a Hybrid that is advertised to get 27 MPG is false advertising. Description of Incident(s) On March 5, 2025, I discovered that my 2023 Fisker Ocean had undergone an unauthorized over-the-air (OTA) software update to version 2.2.2 without my knowledge or consent. I received no prior notification from Fisker or American Leasing, the current entity managing Fisker vehicles following the company’s bankruptcy in 2024. Additionally, I have no access to the vehicle
... ’s cloud system or update logs to understand what changes were implemented, leaving me unable to assess the scope or purpose of the update. Following this update, I experienced two significant safety-related issues with my vehicle, detailed below. Driver’s Door Handle Overheating After the 2.2.2 update, the driver’s side door handle began exhibiting extreme overheating, reaching temperatures exceeding 130°F as measured with a non-contact infrared thermometer. This poses a serious burn hazard and makes the handle unsafe to touch for entry or exit. The issue appears to be electrical in nature, potentially related to a malfunction in the door handle actuator or power management system altered by the software update. The handle remains excessively hot even when the vehicle is powered off, suggesting a persistent fault. This defect compromises safe access to the vehicle and presents a risk of injury. Rearview Mirror Fan Constantly Running Since the update, the fan associated with the vehicle’s digital rearview mirror now runs continuously, regardless of whether the mirror is in use or the vehicle’s thermal conditions warrant cooling. This creates unnecessary noise, potential wear on the fan component, and a possible drain on the vehicle’s battery. While the digital mirror functionality remains operational, the constant fan operation suggests a software glitch affecting thermal regulation or sensor feedback loops, likely introduced by the 2.2.2 update. This issue, while not immediately hazardous, indicates broader concerns with the stability of the vehicle’s software systems post-Read more
