Engined failed in the middle of the highway at 100,800 miles. Engine has had horrible oil consumption issues for a long time, despite regular oil changes and checking the oil levels. KIA already has a 150k class action settlement for engine failure due to connecting rod bearing failure, but have denied warranty and wanted out of pocket $7600 for full engine replacement.

I engaged Tesla's Autopark to park my car in my usual spot. The car kept going after reaching the back of the parking space, crashing into a pole located around one foot behind the parking spot. The time between when it should have braked and the post was of such short duration that I had no time to apply the brakes and prevent the accident. ... ld have detected the post. Instead it relies on a single video camera. What made this parking different from previous safe parking attempt in the same space was that the car was perfectly lined up. That meant that the camera could not make use of parallax to enable the AI to notice that the post was moving against the background and must, therefore by close behind instead of 40 feet away. For Tesla Autopark to function safely, it needs to "know" how far back possible obstructions are. It could do so by never backing up with perfect alignment. Instead, the car should move enough from side to side to generate enough parallax effect for it to be able to determine if it is about the crash. The service manager who called to tell me that Tesla decided the accident was my fault absolutely refused to even hear my opinion on what Tesla could do to prevent such accidents in the future. He told me he had be instructed to deliver Tesla's disclaimer and to not listen to anything I might have to say. As an engineer who has patents in the area of both aviation and automotive safety, I have an opinion that might have been worthy of Tesla's hearing. I now suggest you folks warn people that Autopark should not be used to complete the parking procedure unless and until Tesla decides to address this problem. In the meantime, drivers should be cautioned to either not use the feature or to tap the brakes lightly to disengage the feature several feet before reaching the back of a parking space. I tried to call Hyundai corporate, but they refuse to take any information from me and tell me I would have to buy a new engine if I want to replace it. Mechanics have said that the cost would be heavy for Hyundai if they admitted the problem. But they must be aware of the problem, since they have replaced some engines for people who have the time and money to chase them around. The problem developed well before the 100,000 mile warrantee expired. The car is now over that limit, but the issue was first reported before that limit was reached.Read more

In April 2023 Acura provided a software update, however in October 2024 the engine stalled as mentioned above. Additionally, a local emissions test was performed and failed around April 2022, and passed a second time when performed a few weeks later. Even after experiencing symptoms of recall 23V-858, recall has not been able to be addressed. This vehicle was brought into Acura in November 2024 for an another recall (23V-751) and I was told that current unaddressed recall may be available within the following month but could not provide any further assistance. Engine stalling at a stoplight puts my family at risk, as well as others. If engine is stalling at a stoplight, engine may stall at other times, including while driving, increasing risk of accident. ... A Model 3 Electric Vehicle shut down into "Asleep mode" and will not respond (turn back on). Locked out. Will not wake up. Will not respond to software nor car keys. All systems turned off. Will not charge. Will not release charger from charge port. Issue suddenly happened after [XXX] software load (deemed to not be the cause of issue). Dealership diagnostic shows PTC Heater failure which cuts off the battery. Dealership quoted estimated repair (see below). This could have happened while driving causing the vehicle to be uncontrollable, and a major safety issue. Fortunately, my incident happened after I parked the car in the garage. Overnight there was a software install (supposedly not causing the problem). In the morning the vehicle would not turn on. PRECEDENT: There were several small claims filings in Canada for same issue. This was deemed a design flaw, and safety issue. (See [XXX] ) DIAGNOSTICS: On-line debugging is pointing to resistance issue with 1 of the 5 heating elements in the PTC Heater. PTC Heater cuts off supply to PCS which charges the 12V battery when there is an issue with the heater. This allows the 12v battery to drain, and the EV becomes unresponsive. On [XXX] I went back to check the code and it was stored and the check engine light was off. On my way back home I was on [XXX] just north of Lexington VA and went to pass a slower car and the same thing happen. I was able to pull off to the right side shoulder and I turned the truck off and waited a few and turned it back on. Check engine light was on. I drove it to Roanoke and stop to get gas and check the code for the check engine light which U1401. After filling up the check engine light went off. I took it to Shelor Motor Mile on Monday 11-04-2024. They put their diagnostic tool on it and it spit out 24 different codes. They had a backlog of appointments and could not even start to address the issue for 2 weeks. I took it to the dealership that I bought it from on Monday 11-11-2024. Nobody can tell me why or what happen. One time I understand it might have been a glitch a second time it happens I consider it a safety issue that needs to be addressed. The low front light is so dim that we need to turn on the high light to see at night. Having to use high lights also creates a glare problem for other motorists, but we need the high light as the low light is so dim that it creates a safety hazard for driving at night in urban areas with low lights. This is 3rd time I have had ABS failed. Truck only has 66,000 miles on it and this has happened for 3rd time. Has been twice repaired by Ram dealer in Denham Springs Louisiana. Evidently parts are defective. I am original owner. First time happened at 24,700 miles. Second time at 48,200 miles. Third time at 66,000 miles. Evidently bad parts.

In addition I recently put my car in reverse and the rear view camera failed to load in a timely manner.
