The transmission was checked by Toyota at 55,000 miles for whining sound. Technician advised that it is a normal sound for that type of transmission and it is ok. The sound continued to get louder , so we took it to 2 independant garages and they advised that the noise is the transmision going bad. At 64,000 miles we took it back to the same dealer to tell them we thought it was the transmission.
... The technician road with us and said he thought it was the brakes or something else. After returning from the test drive with the technician, 3 technicinians looked at it and agreed that the transmission is bad and should be replaced. The factory warranty expired at 60,000 miles and Toyota is not honoring that we took it to them for the same problem prior to warranty expiration. They are advsising that it has not completely failed yet, so it's not a problem. I do not want to drive my vehicle for any distance or at highway speeds for fear of failure in a dangerous area or stranded during bad weather.Read more

The vehicle has loud creaking and groaning noises when turning the wheel at low speed or at a standstill, I’ve taken it to a Tesla service center where they claimed that this is just a characteristic of the vehicle yet I myself and a mechanic and understand that the fundamentals of suspension are the same regardless of what type of vehicle it may be and know that this is actually a known issue w

I dropped off my vehicle for repairs later that day at around 1645 or as known as 4:45 PM. I was messaged saying that my vehicle is ready for pick up as I read the service notes, I saw that they did not do any repair on my suspension. This is concerning to me because this is a safety issue and I highly believe that the vehicle needs to be repaired. The service center is located in Santa Clarita, California.Read more

Thousands of 2014-2017 Chevy Volt owners are having issues where the EGR Valve malfunctions and the engine shuts down. The Volt's EGR valve can cause the car to shut down by blowing the "walk home" fuse. This is a safety issue. In many cases cars are in the shop for months because the part is on "backorder". That's my situation-- dealer just told me it's a $2800 repair job, but the part is on "ba

On August 5, 2025, my 2023 Honda Civic Sport (VIN: [XXX] ) was involved in a minor collision at approximately 5–10 mph. The vehicle sustained only cosmetic damage—no intrusion into the engine bay, and no damage to wheels, tires, or suspension. However, the Honda dealership diagnosed the brake master cylinder and brake booster as “broken due to impact.” These components were replaced, and t
... he repair cost was billed to my insurance company. This diagnosis is highly questionable given the nature of the impact and the lack of visible or structural damage to braking components. I have since learned that 2020–2022 Honda Civic models were subject to a recall related to premature failure of the brake master cylinder and booster. Although my car is a 2023 model, the failure of these components under such minor impact conditions suggests that the same or similar defective parts may have been used. If this is the case, it presents a significant safety risk. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether: 1. The 2023 model brake components are affected by similar defects as earlier model years. 2. This incident is part of a broader pattern that warrants further manufacturer investigation or recall. Please investigate this issue for the safety of other Honda Civic owners. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Officers from the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and Montecito Fire Department arrived on scene and, in order to rescue my baby, were forced to smash a window to gain entry. The police officer was advised by a Tesla representative to do so, as he confirmed there would be no way to override the system to open the doors. My baby was found screaming in a pool full of sweat and was carried to an ambulance, where the paramedic warned me of concerning vital signs and advised me to go to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital to have his condition assessed and treated, if necessary. Just before Hurricane Helene, I brought my 2018 Kia Niro Hybrid to Asheville Kia (NC) after noticing coolant loss and white smoke coming from the exhaust. The dealership charged me $1,400 for a repair involving new gaskets and the EGR cooler. Within a month, the same symptoms returned. I returned to the dealership and explained I believed the original issue had not been resolved. I had done resea
... rch and found reports of similar problems in other Niro Hybrids. I specifically mentioned the coolant heat exchanger as a possible source, but they dismissed my input and pushed a $3,500 muffler system replacement. I asked for diagnostic proof, and they initially showed a photo of the muffler with no visible leak. Later, they claimed a "small leak" was found during a pressure test — but the symptoms didn’t align. I then took the vehicle to John’s Kwik Lube in Spruce Pine, NC, where they confirmed the coolant heat exchanger was faulty — exactly what I had originally suspected. They repaired it with a simple workaround for under $200, and I’ve had no issues since. The faulty component (coolant heat exchanger) is not available for inspection, but I retained diagnostic records, pressure test results, and screenshots of the dealership’s estimate. I also documented that Kia’s quote system does not allow access to past service quotes, so I had to screenshot everything manually. The only symptoms were coolant loss and white smoke from the tailpipe, beginning shortly before the storm in September 2018, and recurring until the final repair later that year. The problem was confirmed by an independent mechanic, and partially acknowledged (though misdiagnosed) by the Kia dealership. No police or insurance inspection was involved. This situation posed a safety risk due to reduced visibility, potential engine overheating, and exposure to coolant vapors, especially during uphill driving. The issue is known among Kia owners and appears to be a recurring design flaw in the Niro.Read more

Ignition, speed and driving halts. I've had this Kona repaired a couple years ago and it took about 6-8mos to get my vehicle back, the this year 2025 the vehicle again is giving me problems. I thought of applying the lemon law however the week of the 6-8months being in the repair shop, I got the vehicle back, and the owner(mr. Crisostomo was very kind and understanding) so it made me be more pat
... ience nonetheless there's only so much he could do if he is not the one repairing the vehicle. I was offered carpets for my patience yet still have not gotten them and feel like a bother when I call to inquiry about them and it's not the service manager that I talk to , I feel otherwise. That could just be me, however I know good customer service if it's presence. For the actually year, I would need to check emails and records. But it's probably the year after so 2022 ( almost certain) now, This year, 2025.. I see that there is a recall that the dealership did not inform me. The vehicle is paid of last year, because I was going to relocate but that had changed. I found out about the recall cause my dad had died and step mother is using my other car so I'm using the Kona much more that 3 days a week. I keep dying out in one (1) day.. I died out twice. So I checked if there's a recall and there is. I would like my vehicle repurchased or credit for the amount purchased or I like a jeep 2 door ( is fine) as a recovery vehicle, thank you.Read more
