The engine is running, but my car would slow down, brakes and wheel would stop and I’m not able to move after that. On August 12, 2023, I went to the Plano TX Tesla Delivery Center to pick up my new TeslaY model as scheduled at about 11 am. CST . The vehicle had 3 miles on it. After taking a couple of rounds around the delivery center and becoming comfortable with the default settings, I started driving back home which was 9 miles away. While on the drive, I noticed that the screen was showing “calibration
... in progress”. When I reached home at around 11:40 am. CST, Tesla showed a total of 12 miles on it, and as the garage door opened, the screen showed STOP as it said the calibration finished. As instructed, I stopped moving the vehicle on seeing HOLD/STOP while entering the garage from the driveway. Suddenly, the car jerked forward forcefully, as if a magnet had attracted it inside with the pedal going down. The car went into the garage and hit the garage wall, damaging the common garage wall and the other side being the master bathroom (by damaging the cabinets, big wall mirror(s), counter top etc), and also damaged the front bumper of the car. I was shocked and terrified for a while. So immediately rushed to the center again and reported the incident at Plano Service Center, who created a ticket on the same day. They said that this case would be sent to the engineering team for review. on Sep 10th, I got a reply from Service saying they have reviewed the Engineering study for the vehicle and the results displayed show that the vehicle operated as intended due to the use of the accelerator pedal at the time of the incident. Also reported to Auto insurance who came and assessed the damage to the bumper which also rattles or squeaks. The service for collision is scheduled for Dec 7th 2023 by Tesla Collision Dallas center. 235/45R18 94S M+S I originally purchased these tires because they were rated #2 on top 10 anti-hydroplaning lists. After receiving the tires I realized the anti-hydroplaning characteristics are due to an unusually deep tire tread. After driving them a bit I realized that the tire compound had excessive lack of grip on lightly wet surfaces and often on dry surfaces. So they may be good for anti
... -hydroplaning as long as the tree depth is deep, but the worst traction for dry or slightly wet surfaces for ANY tire I have ever driven. Going down slight downhills with a turn is extremely dangerous even at slow speeds. This morning I was going down a short street with a slight grade and a turn at the bottom when the car failed to turn and continued straight (like on ice). These tires (same on my wife's Mazda) have had traction problems since we bought and installed them. My wife's Mazda won't go up hills with turns on dry pavement and at slow speeds without losing traction. All tires on both vehicles have decent tread depth. This is a dangerous driving condition on uphill/w turns and especially on downhill/w turns. I believe the NTSB should do an investigation into car accident deaths occurring on graded hills with turns at the top or bottom of the inclinations. The tire in suspect is the Firestone Winterforce 2 tire. Please investigate this to possibly save lives. And if a high accident rate is found please have these tires recalled.Read more

While driving the vehicle I noticed hesitation and lose of power on the interstate. No MIL or check engine light illuminated on the dash. I was able to get the vehicle back to the house, but noticed a strong fuel smell coming from the car. I walked around the vehicle looking for a visible sign of a fuel leak and saw a puddle by the rear passenger tire. After further investigation I discovered t
... hat the fuel was coming from the air filter on my charcoal/evap canister. I did some research and see that VW has an extended warranty out for this issue but it is not currently a recall, Fuel Tank Suction Jet Pump Limited Warranty Extension (VWP-22-2). The safety issue is that while driving and stationary you have raw fuel and vapors on the exterior of the vehicle by an exhaust muffler and the inner fender liner absorbs some of the fuel in its fabric, so with the right circumstances could cause a vehicle fire. Thankfully this did not happen to my vehicle but the potential for it to happen is present. I took my vehicle to my local dealer and they diagnosed this issue but because my vehicle has a salvage title they will not cover the cost for the repairs, even though the reason that my vehicle has a salvaged/total title has nothing to do with the fuel/emission/evap system, so I will be doing the repairs myself. The parts that needs to he repaired are the same parts listed in the previous recall of the earlier model of the VW GTI (Safety Recall Code 20Y6)Read more

Incident date: Jul 31, 2023
On three occasions over the past two weeks, my truck downshifted abruptly and without warning while traveling at approximately 65 miles per hour. The first time it occurred, it must have shifted into first gear because my body and head were stopped from hitting the steering wheel thanks to the seatbelt. On the second and third time the downshifts were hard, but I suspect they were into second or
... third gear. On all three occasions the speedometer went to 0 mph then bounced up. The tachometer raced to 5,000 to 6,000 rpm (possibly higher). There was a fourth occurrence that wasn't as bad. I was traveling approximately 60 mph when the transmission shifted down to maybe third or fourth gear, then it shifted up, then back down several times. During this fourth time the speedometer dropped to zero and the tachometer was up and down. A wrench symbol popped up on my information center between the tachometer and the speedometer. The transmission temperature gauge went to the lowest reading. In each of these four cases, I turned my hazard lights on, immediately shifted the transmission into neutral, and coasted to the side of the road. I turned off my truck. Then, I cranked it, and it ran fine afterwards - until the next occurrence a week later, then a few days later, and finally twice in the same day. I have parked the truck since the last occurrence (twice in the same day). Thankfully there were no vehicles immediately behind me in any of these four events. If there had been, it would have resulted in wrecks. There would have been no brake lights to warn drivers behind me. My truck went from approximately 60+ mph down to low gearing without warning. I have not taken my truck to a service center, and I am debating what to do. There are recalls for this exact condition in the same model truck up to 2013. I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding two critical component failures in my 2013 Tesla Model S within the past 12 months, both of which occurred shortly after the manufacturer's warranty had expired. These issues have not only been financially burdensome but also raise questions about the reliability and longevity of Tesla vehicles. Motor Replacement: In Sept 2022, I was compelled
... to replace the motor in my Tesla Model S at a cost of $6,304.89. This occurred despite my vehicle maintaining a clean record and having only around 70k miles on it at the time. The timing of this failure, immediately after the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty, is concerning and suggests a potential design or manufacturing flaw. Battery Replacement: Most recently, I have been informed that the battery in my Tesla Model S requires replacement at an estimated cost of $15,545.97. Like the motor failure, this comes as a substantial financial burden, and again, it has happened just after the warranty period has ended. I find these consecutive, high-cost component failures within a short timeframe to be unacceptable and have led me to question the overall reliability of Tesla vehicles. As a responsible and safety-conscious consumer, I believe it is vital to report these issues to the NHTSA to ensure the safety and protection of all Tesla owners and the general public. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigates these repeated component failures in Tesla vehicles, particularly the motor and battery, and assesses whether there may be any systemic issues that warrant further action or recalls. It is crucial for the NHTSA to uphold and enforce safety standards in the automotive industry to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future. I have attached relevant documents and receipts as evidence of the mentioned repairs for your reference. - [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I want to draw attention to a significant concern: U.S. auto safety regulators announced in August of this year that they are currently investigating whether Ford Motor's 2022 recall of nearly 49,000 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles comprehensively addressed the associated safety concerns. The basis for the 2022 recall was that the high voltage battery main contactors could overheat, particul
... arly from DC fast-charging and repeated wide-open pedal events. This overheating presents a very real danger as it could result in an immediate loss of power, markedly increasing the risk of a vehicular accident. Furthermore, after the recall, Ford issued a technical service bulletin, directing the replacement of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box on the recalled vehicles. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has since opened a recall query. This action was prompted by 12 consumer complaints related to Mach-E vehicles that had supposedly received the necessary recall fixes. It is worth noting that the High Voltage Battery Junction Box has been replaced on my Mach-E already, and I am still facing problems. This is my third encounter with this particular safety issue.Read more
