Stalling with no power transmission is putting me at risk since I first purchased this vehicle. Transmission needs to be replaced because of the defective drive shaft on all 2017 models . Really serious problem with a hard shift and multiple misfire. Just not sure what to do at this point. I’m still paying for a truck that’s not working.

This vehicle was sold to us with this issue. The dealer knew that this problem existed. We took the vehicle in for service when a warning light about the steering came on a few weeks ago. The dealer said that there was not a problem with the steering other than a wire that had been chewed by a rodent for which the dealer charged $650 to fix.

The car worked fine for 3 months and then it started cutting off in the middle of traffic on the road while driving it and would not cut back on. Took to the dealer and was told that it was a camshaft sensor. The camshaft sensors was replaced and the car started cutting off while driving it on the road and the steering wheel would lock up. All lights on the dashboard would come on including the power steering wheel, tire traction, check engine, emergency brake, battery light, ABS light. My Model 3 intermittently has the steering wheel locked in position, which sometimes resolves temporarily after rebooting the car. After the errors began, I have not meaningfully driven the car, since locking of the wheel while driving is very dangerous. A handful of errors showed up on the screen (Cruise Control disabled, Traction Control Disabled, Stability control disabled, Steering assist reduced), and I did not have any regenerative braking applying. How can they tell me it’s not because of the belt breaking down (which falls under the recall) without going into the motor to inspect the belt. I asked to speak with someone who actually worked on my car. The tech told me that the car lost oil pressure which meant the oil wasn’t moving and my engine burned up. I reached out to Ford & was simply given a case number & told that I would receive a letter when the parts are available for repair. I am beyond that point as my engine is already shot and it’s $6-7k to replace. But why replace the engine with the same engine that has the same belt that’s causing these issues??? The car belongs to my son who is a full time nursing student & REALLY needs his car. I can’t get a loaner and can’t afford to rent a vehicle for no telling how long. We are still having to make car & insurance payments on a car that we can’t drive. It is currently still sitting at the dealership. It’s $155 per hour to have the dealership go into the engine & inspect the belt to see if it in fact is at fault for my engine failure. That’s on top of the $100 I paid for towing and the $188 I paid for the diagnosis. Not to mention having to help my son pay for rides to school and work every single day. Main Issue: Ongoing issue with stuck caliper causing the pads and wheels to overheat increasing the tire pressure to dangerous levels. The regenerative braking system is actually very effective in slowing the car when driven in L mode. If driven smartly, driver rarely have to use a lot of force using the physical brakes and rotors. Perhaps they are not being used as much as normal brakes but service was done at the dealership on both cases, only to have the issue return within a year on a low mileage car. Looking at online forums, this appears to be a common issue with the Volt. Often the High Pressure Accumulator (HPA) is not properly reset during a brake job. [XXX] I have had other non EV cars with regular brakes that worked fine for > 50k miles before service, so there is clearly an issue here. Ironically, as these brakes caliper/pistons/rotors are less used due to regen, the chance of them getting stuck seems to be an issue when they are actually engaged leading to dangerous conditions. The oil pump failed at 23,000 miles, then while traveling on [XXX] in New York, the engine failed at 48,000 miles. Fortunately we exited the freeway before a catastrophic failure could occur. The dealer was contacted and I was informed not to drive the vehicle, but to have it towed to the dealership. At the dealership they found the engine had a severe knock and informed me a complete new engin
... e was needed. The engine was never taken apart for inspection, as they mentioned it would be at my expense, that of an additional $1800.00. The cost for engine replacement was $11916.16. If the engine seized on the freeway, a disaster could have occurred. Dealership stating the oil changes were over their recommendations. Four dealerships were contacted and all had different oil change intervals. Dealership stated the North East is a "severe service" area. The other three Chrysler dealerships never heard of this. Also the oil I ran was Amsoil full synthetic with the oil manufacturer recommending up to 12,000 miles oil change intervals, this dealer states 4,500 miles. Other dealers state "go by the book" of 7,500 to 10,000 miles, one states 6,000 miles, another states 6,500 mile intervals. A little long winded story, point being an engine failure traveling at highway speed could have caused severe, possibly life threatening results. My complaint is on the oil pump failure causing this problem, I base my case revolving around the oil pump failure causing engine oil starvation. The dealer states the engine was still getting oil. The oil pump is a two stage pump, low stage-40 PSI, high stage 80PSI. The high stage of the pump failed, not supplying enough oil to the top of the engine. If 40PSI was sufficient to maintain this engine, Chrysler would not have spent millions of dollars to develop a high pressure stage in this pump. Thank you for your consideration in this case. The ABS light and service electronic braking system has been beeping for over a year and the dealers and parts people have no resolve for this. Again, we have been dealing with this for over a year and was told some point last year things were under review and waited 6 months for that review to be cleared and approved to only be told the review process was extended to try and find some resolve and still do not have any news from the Dealers or Manufacturers about this. My wife was picking up our daughter from school. The car shutdown as my wife was getting into the left hand turn lane to go onto our main street. The warning dash lights turned on, but she could not turn on the car. She called me and I left work early to help her out. She called me a few minutes later telling me she was able to get the car started but that it sounded as though "rocks were in the e
... ngine." When I got home, I opened the hood and checked the dip stick and noticed metal flecks and shavings on the end. I tested the dipstick 3 more times and each time I inspected it noticed the flecks and shavings. I then called a tow truck to have the car transported to Hyundai. The sudden engine failure led me down a rabbit hole online and realized this is a widespread issue with a lot of Hyundai vehicles. Luckily, the dealership is replacing the engine since it is still under warranty. I plan on getting rid of the vehicle as soon as possible. The quality of their engines is awful. Despite taking the car for regular maintenance it still failed. It's also telling that the dealership I'm at has several other Hyundai's they're servicing FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE! I was also informed it can take up to a month for the engine to be replaced. Stay away from Hyundai and Kia. There's a reason why they have the types of warranty's for their vehicles. They know they're unreliable and faulty.Read more

My steering wheel recently started "sticking" at 50+ mph when going straight, which appears to be a common issue with 11th Gen Civics that I meet the criteria for, This is a 3 year old car with only 8k miles on it and it started occurring this year in the winter time. ... are only apparently recalling sport's and touring's for this probably because so few SI's get sold so they told me it was my aftermarket wheels making the steering wheel heavy (they are lighter than OEM wheels) and that there was no active recall for the SI. So now I have to drive at risk of a crash until they recall it, or go and pay to get a serious safety issue fixed. I opened a ticket with Honda because this is just corporate greed, they have a technical service bulletin already out there, 23-037 for this issue, my steering components are not different than the touring or sport models so I have no idea how it doesn't apply to me but I am experiencing the issue. I am under warranty (8k miles) and Honda refuses to fix it leaving me I guess to fix it myself or continue to drive dangerously while they gaslight me and tell me it's my aftermarket wheels for an issue that occurred 7k miles after they were put on the car. Just want to have this documented in case I crash directly related to this issue that is already known but corporate greed is keeping them from fixing.Read more

Vehicle has been scheduled for service 4 times to address phantom braking while set to cruise control on highways. Tesla service center continuously resolves the problem remotely stating that there are no faults in the system and it is operating as intended. I’m an airline pilot and my vehicle poses a safety hazard to me and those around me when operating in any autonomous mode.

Vehicle is driving as usual with no odors or sounds. 4wd unavailable light came on. The code for this states PTU is bad and must be replaced. Dealer quote is $5270 to replace. There is a safety design flaw with the dash lights. If the headlights are ON The dash lights are turned down to a significantly lower illumination automatically and cannot be turned back up to full brightness. This is a big issue when driving with your head lights on during daylight rain/fog. The dash lights won't turn up to full brightness and are very difficult to read, especially for anyo
