The check engine light, wrench icon, traction icon all illuminated, the chime sounded and a series of errors displayed: “Service Advance Trac” “Collision Prevention Unavailable” “Hill Start Unavailable” “Service Engine Soon” among others. After power cycling the vehicle, the warning messages and icons remained, but I could shift into drive. However, the vehicle wouldn’t travel above 30 MPH, and seemed to accelerate on its on, as if it were on cruise control set at 30 MPH. Abruptly stopping on the highway is very dangerous, and could have caused a serious accident. Unless there is a catastrophic failure (which there wasn’t) the vehicle should never uncontrollably stop, especially on the freeway.Read more

The AC does not work intermittently. When the AC is on, it will blow cold air and then all of a sudden, warm air comes out. Then it may work again and then it will blow warm air. We got it to a mechanic, and they stated it was the engine, and it needed to be taken to the dealership. I have read that Hyundai/Kia are notorious for engine issues. My car was towed to the dealership, and they supposedly requested to see if Hyundai would cover for a replacement engine. My car is unfortunately 10,000 over the warranty mileage (100,000), but 110,000 is still not enough to be already having engine problems. Started an hour and a half drive to visit family and I started hearing a weird sound almost like plastic was flapping around on the bottom. The dealership near me is saying they can’t do anything due to a recall update not being done but I had a newly programmed ECU that was put in in March of 2023 and I was some research and i found a few things stating the ECU would be completely up to date but kia is fighting me on it. I have also been update to date on maintenance records. Phantom braking occurred when the adaptive cruise was engaged when a truck entered the road from the right side. The car abruptly slowed when the truck crossed my lane although there was no eminent danger. The car behind us nearly collided with us due to the sudden braking incident. Tesla Roadside Assistance suggested towing the car and using an Uber coupon, which was impractical due to our location in the outskirts of Vancouver, Canada, with no Uber services, and our home in Seattle, USA.We drove over 100 miles to the nearest service centre in Vancouver, posing a significant safety risk on curvy freeway roads. The service centre confirmed that the wire supplying power to the steering was cut due to contact with the fan, and they repaired the issue. Conclusion: The steering failure of our Tesla Model 3 was a major safety concern. Driving with impaired steering could have led to a severe accident. The issue was due to a design flaw, with the wire contacting the fan. We request a thorough investigation to prevent future occurrences and consideration for the inconvenience and risk we faced. Component/System Failure: The wire supplying power to the steering mechanism was severed due to contact with the vehicle's fan. Safety Risk: The steering became extremely tight, making large turns nearly impossible and small turns very difficult. Was driving on the highway going about 65mph when the engine just lost power. Pressing the accelerator and there was nothing happening. Had the car towed home. And then to a mechanic who told me the rod was bent. I’ve always kept up on oil changes and maintenance. I just had an oil change less than a month prior. She was assessed by the firefighers and determined that she did not need to go to the hospital for observation as my husband is a medical professional and her temperature was not severe enough to warrant observation. The sent a tow truck that arrived at approximately 1345. Tesla did expedite the tow truck. We were told multiple times there is absolutely no way to open an model S door manually from the outside. And given no options. We informed them we were at our house and had multiple tools. However we were unable to break the window on our own and had to call 911. My car was at the dealership [XXX] and shut down had not occurred prior to this, nor was this noted as a finding after the maintenance. Vehicle steering does not return to center when exiting a gradual turn. This occurs intermittently. On line research indicates that this problem is likely the result of a faulty steering rack and that many other owners have experienced this behavior; as this could result in a dangerous situation I am reporting. The vehicle has about 43,000 miles on it. I have not had it repaired as yet.

Motor/Touch sensor on DRIVERS door handle stopped working. Sensor or key will no longer lock OR unclock DRIVERS door. Thought it was the key until it was replaced then a couple months later the door stopped working again.

Two incidents: 1) Non-accident: My wife was slowing to make a right turn at a stop light and the steering locked up for about 3 seconds, where she wasn't able to regain manual steering control. We did not have full self-driving mode at the time. Luckily, she was only going about 10 mph, and was able to brake before running into oncoming traffic. 2) Accident: Our son was driving on a country road

We had a free trial for full self-driving mode during the previous month, but it ended two weeks before the accident, so he could not have had it in self-driving mode. It appears that he didn't make the curve, but as evidenced by a single long tire skid mark, continued almost perfectly straight, across the oncoming lane, and ran into a redwood tree. The car rolled and ended up upside down, against the bank back on the right side of the road, with the lithium batteries on fire. Our son and his passenger sustained severe injuries and neither has a memory of what caused the accident. Naturally we suspect the possibility that the steering locked up again. But it also seems likely that the AEB and ABS were not functioning correctly, as if they were, there should have been several short skid marks for the tires on both sides of the car, rather than only a single long skid mark. Additionally, there's no shoulder on that road, and there is a clump of bushes that come very close to the white line, so it's possible that a steering auto-correct initiated the incident. We have not yet been able to recover EDR or log data from the vehicle.Read more
