Hi! A couple weeks ago i noticed the horn in my 2024 Hyundai Venue Limited was not working. My husband made an appointment to take it in to the dealership for the soonest available date which was about a couple weeks from that day. About a week later, the dashboard screen where you see the speedometer, odometer, etc. went completely black. You couldn’t see how fast you were going, how much gas i
... s in the tank, your tire pressure, and a lot more vital information. This happened on a sunday so the dealerships were closed so I disconnected and reconnected the battery which seemed to temporarily fix the screen issue. Upon investigating online, I found numerous other people who have had the same issue with the horn as well as their screen going black. This is a safety issue because if someone is going into my lane or being a hazard on the road in general, i am unable to use my horn to get their attention which greatly increases the risk of an accident. Also, the screen randomly going black is super dangerous as well because I cannot see how fast i’m going, i can’t see if my tire pressure is low or too high, I can’t see if i need an oil change soon, and so much more. please take this seriously and look into this. thank you for your time!Read more

Vehicle Information: •Make: Tesla •Model: Model Y •Year: 2024 Description of the Problem: After a software update pushed by Tesla, the AP4 computer in my 2024 Tesla Model Y shorted out, causing a complete failure of all systems controlled by this computer. The following safety-critical and driver-assist features have become non-functional: 1.Cruise Control (adaptive or otherwise) 2.Forward
... Collision Warning 3.Lane Departure Warning 4.Lane Keeping Assistance 5.Blind Spot Warning 6.Parking Collision Warning 7.Full Self-Driving and Auto Park features 8.Cameras required for Autopilot functionality Additionally, because the GPS system has failed, the vehicle’s Navigation system is inoperable. The GPS stays in the last position prior to the update. This impacts Tesla’s unique route planning feature that sets up Supercharger stops during long journeys. Without a functioning navigation system, I cannot properly plan my travel or locate charging stations, which severely affects the usability of the vehicle. Safety Concerns: The failure of these systems, especially safety features like forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, and blind spot monitoring, puts both the driver and others on the road at risk. Losing access to safety-critical functions after an update is unacceptable and poses a serious danger to vehicle occupants and surrounding traffic. Incident Details: •The issue occurred immediately following a software update. •Tesla pushed the update remotely without providing any warning or indication of potential risks. •The failure appears to be related to a hardware short in the AP4 computer, directly caused or exacerbated by the update. Desired Outcome: •A thorough investigation into Tesla’s software update process and its effect on vehicle hardware and safety systems. •A resolution that prevents similar failures in other vehicles and ensures system updates do not compromise vehicle safety or critical functionality.Read more

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Defective Arnott Front Air Strut To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a significant safety concern regarding a defective Arnott FL front air strut purchased via RockAuto for my 2016 Audi S6 (VIN: [XXX] ). The air strut failed within five days of professional installation. This failure compromised the safety and functionality of my vehicle's
... suspension system, potentially risking further damage and endangering passengers. I was forced to drive the vehicle briefly in this compromised state to arrange for reinstallation, creating an additional safety hazard. Details of the issue: Product: Arnott FL Front Air Strut (purchased via RockAuto). Professional Installation Dates: October 25, 2024, and reinstallation due to failure on November 27, 2024. Failure Description: The air strut lost functionality within five days of installation, causing a significant drop in vehicle height and inability to maintain proper suspension. This defect demonstrates a failure of Arnott’s quality control and has left me concerned about the safety of their products, particularly when they play a critical role in vehicle performance and passenger safety. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter to ensure no systemic issues with Arnott's products compromise the safety of other drivers. I have attached supporting documentation, including invoices for installation, reinstallation, and further details on the defective part. Thank you for your attention to this urgent safety matter. I look forward to your acknowledgment and any updates regarding this investigation. On Saturday, [XXX] my husband was in his 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 slowly pulling into our gate to access our carport. I was holding the gate open for him. Suddenly, the truck took off like a rocket. It crashed through the back wall of the carport, across our backyard, into our large shed, through the shed, exited the shed and went over our chain link fence, the neighbor’s chain link fence and came to
... a stop in the corner of her front porch. The first neighbor that got to the truck after hearing the wreck said the engine was still revved up so he turned the key off. My husband was alert but in a state of shock. Neither he nor our dog, who was in the back seat, were hurt thank [XXX] . I called 911. We had Highway Patrol, Sheriff, Fire and EMTs all come to the scene. The EMTs and Highway Patrolman said he was alert and responding to them. He was not injured, so he did not go to the hospital to be checked out. He was not given a citation by the Highway Patrolman. Our insurance agent said, after looking at the photos I sent him, that the truck will probably be totaled, but as yet, we’ve not heard for sure. The only thing that makes sense to us is that the accelerator must have stuck wide open as he started pulling in to the carport. There’s no way he could have kept his foot on the accelerator in error throughout the multiple crashes he went through. What Happened: The issue involves a recall on the engine coolant system of my BMW. The car is currently unsafe to drive, and BMW has not provided a timetable for fixing the problem or offering a solution. The last time I drove the car, I experienced a dangerous malfunction. While driving slowly to the end of my street, I pressed the gas pedal, but the engine did not respond at all. The car essenti

After restarting, I managed to drive it back up the street to my house. I have not driven the car since, as I do not want to put myself or others in danger. Safety Risk: The engine failure occurred while I was driving, which could have put me at risk of being struck by other vehicles. A sudden loss of engine power while driving, especially at higher speeds or in traffic, could cause a serious accident. Inspection/Confirmation: The recall has been acknowledged by BMW, but there is no timetable for when parts will be available to resolve the issue. I have contacted the corporate office and the local dealership. The dealer refuses to provide a rental car, leaving me without a viable transportation option. If it were to happen when someone was in front of me I'm scared of what would happen, or even just parking at the grocery store I could easily slam into the car in the next spot. There were no warning /safety lights or any error lights on the dashboard before or when this happened. Not sure what caused it so I checked multiple boxes of what I think it could possibly be. Mazda has a recall out but I checked my vin and so far it's not registering a recall. My technician at the dealership is off today but I will call back tomorrow and talk to him about the incident.Read more

I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler, which is part of a recall for what is known as the 'Death Wobble', meaning that when driving over the smallest bump at highway speeds (~60mph), the vehicle begins to shake uncontrollably. This is a known recall and we had it fixed through the recall. After the fix at the dealer, the same death wobble problem persists again. The dealer/manufacturer is not solving the
... root cause, but rather putting a temporary fix on the issue. Very unsafeRead more

The standard OEM key fobs for Honda Civics, for several model years, and possibly for other Honda models, have a "feature" that seriously affects driver and passenger safety, and that cannot be disabled. If two buttons are depressed simultaneously on the key fob for a period of time, all of the windows go down and the doors unlock. I have encountered dozens and dozens, perhaps hundreds, of owner c
... omplaints about this "feature" on various Internet bulletin boards. Typically, the stories go, "I parked downtown in an unsafe area and I came back to my car and found that it was unlocked with all of the windows open and someone stole everything from my car," or "I parked outside just before a rain storm and I returned to my car to find all of the windows open without my knowledge and the interior of my car was soaked." Single women could encounter this problem and be attacked by people hiding in the back seat. Apparently, if anything in one's pocket depresses the keys on the fob, without one's knowledge, this occurs. It has happened to me, where I'll bend down to tie my shoe and walk away and I'll return hours later to find all the windows open during a rain storm or in a bad part of town. I've asked American Honda numerous times for a way to disable this unwanted "feature" and they've said that they've not interested in addressing it unless they're forced to do so by the government. This is a serious safety issue, not only implicating potential crime, but a wet soaked car interior could affect electrical and navigation systems in a life-threatening way. If you respond, I can upload several Internet pages with owner comments and complaints about this problem.Read more
