Yesterday at roughly 6:25 PM while while coming to a stop traveling about 7-10 mph the braking system failed to stop the vehicle. The ABS system went off violently and the steering wheel and entire vehicle shook violently. It was as if the braking system completely stopped responding mid stop. The vehicle was within 3 feet of hitting another vehicle. Well, this vehicle has exhibited these symptoms

To date, our experience driving the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 has been a total "NIGHTMARE." We've had 2 "TERRIFYING ACCIDENTS" within the first 6 months of leasing this vehicle, Both caused by "Unintended Acceleration Issues," the car "randomly" accelerates, on it's own! 1st ACCIDENT (4/25/2024) - As my wife pulls into our driveway, the car suddenly accelerates (un-commanded) and smashes in the garag
... e, the damage was over $8,000 dollars, (we paid out of pocket) ... Thank God, she was not HURT! State Farm Insurance paid over $20K to repair the car, we paid $500 deductible. It took over 10 weeks to complete all repairs. After we got the car back, my wife was "very apprehensive" to drive for two weeks, finally, able to summon enough courage, she got back behind the wheel and then came the 2nd ACCIDENT( 8/25/24) - While pulling into a Jamba Juice parking spot, the car did it "AGAIN," (unintended acceleration), Jumping the curb, plowing into greenery, shrubs and block wall. Again, 'EXTREMELY" fortunate no one was hurt of "KILLED!" The car was towed to SLO Hyundai Dealership, then back to Kaisen Collision Center, for 2nd time, all within 6 weeks! The repair completion date, is estimated for 9/13/24 with approximate cost at $13K dollars, to date. "REGARDLESS" of all that, we feel blessed to be "WALKING AWAY," from the vehicle, (literally & figuratively)! We are "DONE" ... the car is a total "DEATH TRAP." Immediately following ACCIDENT #2, we called SLO Dealership to report (2nd accident), stating, we are "FINISHED" with the car & "REFUSE" to drive it again! SLO Dealership was apologetic and stated they could "VOID OUT" Lease Agreement, "ONLY" if we paid dealership, roughly $8K dollars (Citing: "Car Depreciation," after "YOUR" Two Accidents - CarFax report). Now, this where the rubber meets the road, we vehemently refrut dealerships allocation, we take total culpability, paying them an extra $8K to return this (heavily documented), "FLAWED" vehicle.Read more

On 9/6/2024 I was driving on I-10 E going about 70 mph in the left lane. I had engaged the cruise control but not the Autopilot because I’ve had dangerous experiences with the Autopilot phantom breaking and misinterpreting cracks in the road as lane markers and dangerously changing lanes. So even though Inoaid thousands of dollars for Autopilot I never use it. So I was driving approaching a bi
... g rig in the lane to the left of mine and the sun was low in the sky casting a shadow on the road. The car thought the shadow was a car and slammed on the breaks and almost came to a complete stop until I pressed on the breaks to release the cruise control. We are very lucky the car behind us didn’t hit us. The car behind us almost hit us and my passenger and I both sprained our necks. The same exact thing happened 5 minutes later. After that I am too scared to use cruise control which is very inconvenient when on a road trip. My car is a 2018 Tesla Model 3 that is equipped with LIDAR radar when I bought it, however Tesla turned this feature off awhile back. I never had issues with cruise control when the LIDAR was still enabled. I am very angry that a carmaker can turn off a safety feature that I paid for without my consent. I would have bought a different electric car if I had know I’d have to go back in time to the 1990’s before cruise control was invented. Most cars use some kind of radar for their cruise control systems and this seems to much safer. There are many, many complaints on line of other Tesla drivers having lots os problems with phantom braking. This is an important safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately.Read more

I have only driven my car for 10k miles in past 2 years. I have been on 3 long trips only. Every trip has become scary because one or the other tire turns flat right on busy highways with my little kids in it. I have had one replacement and two repairs on the only long trips I made. No other car I have have had any flat tires till date on the same routes in past 10 years. Tesla vehicles are heavy
... and they make tires prone to this posing a safety hazard. Tesla should either publicly announce this or give some solution since if known no one would want to take this vehicle with this kind of risk. I started receiving messages that the cameras were occluded and that there was an error and ALL of my system safety features were disabled. No front forward collision warnings, no emergency braking available, nothing available and the system computer that showed all of the traffic and everything completely disappeared from the screen, the car has literally gone blind. All of this started happening
... on with the camera issues in May, but I thought that it was a software issue and would be addressed in the next update, although the critical disengagements were supposed to be sent to Tesla. I took the car to the service center on 9/4/24 at 9am, and they stated that the did a system test and saw that the triple camera was showing a fault and so they replaced the camera and gave it back to me the same day. Everything worked for the rest of that day for a service that took at least 3hours to figure out. Today after I get off of work at 1pm and I go to initiate FSD and I get 3miles from my residence( I live <8mi from my job) and the system disengages again asking me to take over and all of my critical systems have yet again been disabled. My whole safety is compromised at this point yet again. I immediately bring the car back and they tell me that it's going to take them an additional 30-45 mins to "diagnose" the issue although it's the same thing that's been happening that was supposedly fixed yesterday. After that wait time the service consultant comes back and tell me that the car is throwing all kinds of codes and that, "It's still safe to drive." When I told that it cannot be safe to drive if all of the critical systems were disabled he suggested that I take it and they can do a remote log pull so they can look more into the issue or I can leave it as the part that's needed needs to be ordered anyway. I don't know how they can order a part if they're claiming to not know what's wrong with it. Something else is going on that they don't want to take accountability for!Read more

Note: Nobody was hurt, I am pre-emptively reporting this as I see it as a potentially dangerous issue. Transmission can jump/nudge the car a bit, especially in cold starts and if the engine is under load (e.g. AC or Heat). I've seen it online in Reddit reported, but mine seems to be a fairly strong version of it. It occurs pretty much every time the engine is cold. As I learned in a trip, if y
... ou don't press the brake hard enough, it can move. We did a road trip. I was stopped at a light (fully stopped). Brakes were pressed hard enough to not move, but not 'to the floor'. The vehicle jumped and moved about a foot into the crosswalk when I was stopped properly before then. Freaked me out. Nobody was in the crosswalk, so thankfully nobody was hurt. But this could be very dangerous behavior in a city where there are a lot a people. A surprising lurch when you think it's stopped isn't safe, and is going to create a liability for me. Me living near a big city, it's a worry. I've already brought it to a dealer about this, they said 'it's normal for mavericks' after investigating it for 25 days. I will re-raise this with them, but am not expecting much. I ran the truck with a diagnostic tool I own, no codes thrown through the bus, no warning lights during the event either.
