MY 2003 SUZUKI SV1000S MOTORCYCLE HAD AN INTERMITTENT TOTAL POWER(ELECTRICAL) FAILURE THAT WOULD RESULT IN THE BIKE SHUTTING OFF. I TOOK THE BIKE TO A DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE WEEK OF AUGUST 13-19 IT BEGAN TO GET WORSE SO I STOPPED RIDING AND BEGAN TO RESEARCH ON MY OWN AND FOUND THE IGNITION SWITCH CONNECTOR HAD FAILED AND BEGAN TO BURN THE WIRES ON THE SWITCH END. FO

THE WIRING HARNESS END HAS SOME DAMAGE BUT NOT MUCH, BUT WHEN THE CONNECTOR FAILED THE HEAT FUSED THEM TOGETHER AND GETTING THEM APART HAD VERY DIFFICULT WITHOUT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS END. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I NOTICED THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE. I ASKED THE OPINION OF A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE MOTOR, AND HE WAS MORE LIKELY SURE THAT IT WAS SOMETHING CALLED "LIFTER." FINALLY AFTER 3 DAYS I STILL DIDN'T RECEIVE A CALL TO INFORM ME WHAT WAS GOING ON I CALLED MYSELF. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE STATED THAT THE CAR NEEDED A CERTAIN LIQUID TO CLEAN THE MOTOR. ANOTHER WEEK PASSED BY AND I STILL HADN'T RECEIVED A CALL FROM THEM. SO ONCE AGAIN I CALLED THEM, THIS TIME HE STATED THAT THE CAR NEEDED A MOTOR DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE IN OTHER WORDS NO OIL CHANGES. I BROUGHT OUT TO HIS ATTENTION THAT ON MY WINDSHIELD THERE WAS THE STICKER SHOWING THE LAST TIME I CHANGED THE OIL AND WHEN WAS THE NEXT TIME IT NEEDED A OIL CHANGE. I ALSO STATED THAT IN THE LOCKED COMPARTMENT HE SHOULD FIND RECEIPTS OF PAST OIL CHANGES. HE STATED THAT THE MOTOR EXPENSE HAS TO COME OUT OF MY POCKET EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY. AT THIS POINT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, I AM MISSING HOURS OF WORK DUE TO NO TRANSPORTATION, I HAVE TO WALK AND CATCH THE BUS WHEN I HAVE NO NEED BEING THAT MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE PROBLEM IT HAS SHOULD BE COVERED. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED AT ABOUT 9,000 MILES IN MAY. THERE WAS A HOT SMELL AND A LOT OF BRAKE DUST AROUND THE RIM AND TIRES. THE SUZUKI DEALER SERVICE DEPT. SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS JUST NEEDED BRAKE FLUID ADDED. AT THAT TIME THE PADS WERE AT HALF WAY. BUT THIS WAS DISMISSED. ON AUGUST 3RD I BEGAN TO HEAR SQUEALING ESPECIALLY WHEN I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. I TOO

I FEEL THAT THE BRAKES FEEL VERY TIGHT WHEN I AM IN REVERSE ALMOST LIKE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ON. I WAS SENT TO THE DEALER SINCE I ONLY HAD 14,100 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT WAS SIX MONTHS OLD. THE MAN AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD CHECK THE HISTORY. IT WAS OVER THE 12,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE SERVICE MANAGER LATER CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE WORN COMPLETELY ON THE FRONT AND SHE WOULD ORDER THE PADS FOR ME. I ASKED IF IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAD IT IN AT 9,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD NO, THAT BRAKES WEAR DIFFERENTLY ON DIFFERENT CARS AND BASICALLY I WAS ROUGH ON MY BRAKES. THERE WAS NO OFFER TO INVESTIGATE, OR CONCEDE THAT IS WAS UNUSUAL FOR BRAKES TO WEAR THAT QUICKLY. MY HUSBAND DID RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY ISSUES WITH BRAKE PROBLEMS ON THE SAME CAR. AFTER REFUSING REPEATEDLY TO ACCEPT THIS AS MY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS ABLE TO GET A "ONE TIME GOOD WILL" REPLACEMENT OF MY BRAKES. I SUSPECT THIS CUTTING OUT ISSUE TO BE THE CAUSE OF MY CRASH WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT 25 MPH WHICH OCCURRED ON NOVEMBER 27, 2005, RESULTING IN MILD INJURY TO NECK/SHOULDER AND $1,000 IN DAMAGE TO THE BIKE. AFTER THE TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE ON JULY 8TH I PAID $75 TO HAVE THIS SV TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE GREEN IGNITION SWITCH WAS BURNT AND BLACKENED AND REPLACED WITH A NEW SWITCH PLUS SOME DIELECTRIC GREASE. I PAID FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR, AND AFTER A CALL TO SUZUKI OF AMERICA, THEY HAVE OFFERED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR PARTS AND LABOR IN EXCHANGE FOR MY GIVING THEM THE BURNT IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE ACCEPTED SUZUKI'S OFFER, HOWEVER, IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT I HAVE ALREADY PAID OVER $1,500 IN BIKE REPAIRS AND MEDICAL BILLS BEFORE THIS ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WAS GRABBING AND WHILE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IT FELT AS IF IT WAS JERKING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE COMPUTER IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN OF MY VEHICLE MAKES A TERRIBLE SOUND WHEN IT IS TURNED AT LOW SPEEDS. I BROUGHT IT IN FOR REPAIR UNDER THE WARRANTY AND SUZUKI REPLACED IT.
