TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS DEFECTIVE. IN ORDER TO REPAIR IT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEAT HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SENSOR. SUZUKI WAS CONTACTED BUT STATED THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY EX-HUSBAND BEFORE GIVING MY DAUGHTER THE USE OF HIS 2006 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA TOOK IT INTO MARKETPLACE CHRYSLER - SUZUKI, INC IN ROCHESTER, NY ON 6/23/2010 TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND FOR THEM TO TAKE CARE OF ANY RECALLS ON THE CAR THAT HAD NOT BEEN DONE YET. WELL ONE THEY DID WAS "SB SHIFTER INTERLOCK" REPLACED PER RECALL IS STATED ON THE RECEIPT. WELL ON THE NIGHT OF AUGUST 8TH 2010 AROUND 10P
... M SHE WAS MOVING THE SUZUKI GRAND VITARA IN THE DRIVEWAY UP CLOSER TO THE HOUSE AND THE SHIFTER MOVED OUT OF PARK INTO DRIVE WITHOUT HER HAVING HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE... IT WAS COOLER OUT AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING FAST ALSO. WELL THE 2006 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA WENT THROUGH THE CLOSED GARAGE DOOR. MY GARAGE DOOR HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE DAMAGES TO THE SUZUKI HAVE BEEN FIXED ALL PAID FOR BY MY EX-HUSBANDS GEICO AUTO POLICY. THE DAY THE CAR WAS PICKED UP FROM BEING REPAIRED WE TOOK IT STRAIGHT BACK TO MARKETPLACE CHRYSLER-SUZUKI AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED, THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD LOOK AT THE VEHICLE BUT ONCE A RECALL IS DONE THEY CAN'T REDO IT AND HAVE IT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THEY DID EVALUATE THE VEHICLE AND STATED ON THE REPAIR INVOICE "CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WILL COME OUT OF PARK WHEN OFF OR RUNNING" "TECH FOUND THAT THE SHIFT SWITCH WAS FAILING. I HAD BOUGHT A USED SUZUKI AUTO FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL CARS. IN MID-JUNE 2005 I WAS RETURNING TO PHILA. ON I-95 AFTER TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO CAMP IN MASSACHUSETTS. JUST OUTSIDE DARIEN, CONN. ALL THE POWER ON THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. AN 18-WHEELER WAS BARRELING DOWN ON ME IN THE CENTER LANE BUT FORTUNATELY FOR ME THE LANE TO MY RIGHT WAS EMPTY AND THE SHOULDER WAS WIDE ENOUGH FOR ME TO PUL
... L OVER. AFTER SPENDING THE NIGHT IN DARIEN AND HAVING A REPAIR SHOP TOW THE CAR, THE MECHANIC SAID THERE HAD BEEN A BLOWN FUSE. HE REPLACED THE FUSE AND GAVE ME A SPARE AND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REPLACE IT IF I NEEDED TO ON MY WAY HOME. AFTER I GOT BACK TO PHILA., I TOOK THE CAR TO MY NEAREST SUZUKI DEALER. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE PROBLEM WHICH HE SAID WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND THAT ENTERPRISE HAD NEVER TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM, BY THE WAY, WAS THAT A WIRES RUBBER COATING HAD BEEN ABRADED DUE TO RUBBING AGAINST THE CHASSIS OF THE CAR. ONCE THE WIRE WAS EXPOSED, ITS TOUCHING THE METAL FRAME CAUSED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (INCLUDING THE ACCELERATOR) TO SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I DON'T FAULT SUZUKI BUT RATHER ENTERPRISE CAR RENTALS FOR NOT ALLOWING THE CAR TO BE SERVICED BY SUZUKI WHEN THEY WERE GIVEN THE RECALL NOTICE AND THEN SELLING IT TO ME WITHOUT TELLING ME ANYTHING ABOUT THE RECALL OR WHAT THEY DID ABOUT THE RECALL.. AFTER I GOT BACK TO PHILA., I TOOK THE CAR TO MY NEAREST SUZUKI DEALER. IT IS RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR. CURRENTLY THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES NEARLY $300 TO REPLACE THE PART, AND SOME SAY THEY HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES EVEN AFTER THE REPLACEMENT. IT IS VERY SCARY NOT KNOWING WHEN YOUR CAR MIGHT DECIDE TO SWITCH INTO NEUTRAL OR ANOTHER GEAR. I HOPE IT NEVER SWITCHES TO REVERSE!
