MY SUZUKI SV1000S HAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I FIRST NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START THE MOTORCYCLE IN MY GARAGE IN MAY OF 2011. I TURNED THE SWITCH AND NOTHING CAME ON. THE DEALER CALLED ME AND STATED THAT DURING A TEST DRIVE THE STEERING HAD SEVERELY TIGHTENED UP AND WAS HARD TO DRIVE. THEY CALLED BACK AND QUOTED THE FIX TO BE ABOUT $2800. I INFORMED THE REPAIR SHOP AND INSURANCE THAT THE LIGHT WAS NOT DUE TO THE ACCIDENT. WHILE I WAS AT THE SHOP, THE ERROR LIGHT WENT OUT, BUT SUBSEQUENTLY (WITHIN 5 MILES) CAME BACK ON AGAIN. BIKE WOULD NOT START AFTER A LONG RIDE. JUMP STARTED TO GET HOME. AFTER LOOKING IN TO THE REASON FOUND THAT THE STATOR HAD SHORTED OUT AND BURNT UP.I WAS LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN A HALF AN HOUR EARLIER AS I WAS RIDING AT 50 MPH AND LOSE ALL POWER.
