I was headed back home for thanksgiving, traveling down I20 from Birmingham to Anniston AL, when the oil light suddenly came on, then 2 minutes later a "default Engine-service now" warning appeared. The car immediately started making a loud rattling noise, sputtered and stopped accelerating. I almost got rear-ended and was terrified! I managed to exit the interstate and pulled into a gas station.
... Checked oil levels, which were fine. Got back on I20 and drove slowly (with hazard lights flashing) back to previous exit, where there was an express oil change. They could not identify the exact problem, but mechanic speculated it was the oil pump since he just fixed another ford vehicle with the same issue. I had my car towed back to Pep Boys in [XXX] (where I live). After inspecting my vehicle, I was informed that the oil pump had completely malfunctioned. The whole thing, including belts and tensioner had to be replaced. I'm still waiting to find out if any further damage was caused to the engine. So far, the bill is up to $4000 and I have been without a vehicle for 6 days. I would like to note that I completed regular oil changes and maintenance on this vehicle. Upon searching online, I have seen many other reports of this same issue on Ford Focus models, yet there has been no recall or action taken by ford and no action taken by the NHTSA. It is being shown on the internet and youtube that the ABS module has faulty soldering inside that connections break easily. There is a small red "i" indicator light in the dash that will light up after Eyesight fails. There are no warnings of the failure. We understand rain, snow and fog will impact Eyesight. We had a 2020 Subaru that Eyesight only shutdown when expected (heavy rain, snow, fog) and would restart once we were in the clear, but now we are told that sunlight and windshield condensation affects Eyesight's functionality. The contact's husband was air lifted to the hospital, where it was diagnosed that he had sustained a broken neck and was paralyzed from the neck down. The contact's husband received medical assistance in the hospital for 5 months until he passed away. The contact, her sister and brother-in-law were transported to the hospital. The contact sustained a broken sternum and received medical assistance. The contact's sister sustained a fractured neck. Both the contact's sister and brother-in-law had undergone back surgery. I have experienced premature rear brake wear and excessive tire wear. Issues with infotainment system and pre-collision braking system. (1) Regarding Tires: Performed all dealer recommended tire rotations and aligned vehicle when recommended. Needed new tires at 31,169 miles. Tires showed excessive inside wear. Bought new tires from a 3rd party shop and had alignment done with hunter alignment sys
... tem. Showed rear right camber at -2.0. Subaru recommends -1.8 to 0.3. Rear camber is not adjustable on this model. Took vehicle back to dealer for brake job and they said camber was fine...there is a spec for a reason. Did not want to attempt to bring it in spec with aftermarket kits (i.e. adjustable cam bolt) or fix under warranty. (2) Regarding Brakes: Needed new brakes at 31,169 miles. Not covered under warranty and not what I would consider typical wear based on my driving style and my past experience with Subaru vehicles. If this is an expected side affect of the EBD system I would highly recommend Subaru consider ways of improving brake life on their vehicles. (3) I have the Onyx XT trim with navigation. Infotainment system is constantly glitchy. Examples include booting with blank black screen, failing to load, excessive lag while operating system or will freeze and beep repeatedly while buffing a menu selection. Also, had my car battery replaced under warranty within the first two years due to a bad battery. (4) Issues with ADAS system, specifically pre-collision breaking. This system is extremely sensitive and will over-react / take control in certain situations where I didn't need it to even when I was in the process of braking. Have had this system activate on the highway at high speeds while switching lanes on the highway or when having a vehicle merge quickly into my lane in front of me. Constantly, have to turn off this system which is a chore as this system is defaulted to always being on. Do not feel safe driving with this system on.Read more

While driving southbound on I-95 from Washington, DC to toward Richmond, on a stretch of the highway with three lanes and a constant flow of traffic across all lanes, the driver ahead of me swerved to avoid two cars ahead of her who had stopped for unknown reasons. ... -most). At this point my following distance was greatly reduced. I immediately stepped on the brake which vibrated and felt more plastic rather than elastic (which had happened a couple of times before at low maneuvering speeds but still applying braking force). With cold weather and slight rain at 9:50am ET, the car practically slid and I did not feel ABS engaging. It was as if the tires seized up. The car is supposed to have a full suite of ADAS features and Automatic Emergency Braking was supposed to be available from mid-2023 (whereas other features are allegedly delayed until later in the year). To say I was disappointed with the car's handling of this situation would be an understatement. 5,000 of these vehicles have been delivered across the world and about 3,000 to 4,000 in the US. Several others have reported issues/experiences like mine online. This car is simply not safe until the software has been rectified. We were led to believe that just infotainment and miscellaneous system software was lacking but clearly this is affecting critical safety systems. Another system known to work intermittently are the cameras. If that includes the radars/cameras in charge of safety features, that means those features also only work intermittently. The accident was low-speed and low-impact and two occupants (1 adult, 1 child) in the Fisker Ocean appear to be OK. The driver/sole occupant of the other vehicle initially reported she was OK and did not require a police report or medical attention but according to my insurance agency has since changed her claim to one of "injury".Read more

Third time, Autozone x2 and Firestone, independent of one another said computer issue and that a code for rich fuel was coming up. Auto-wiper settings does not work. They are required to be turned on, while on Autopilot/cruise control, but they actively wipe the windshield, even when no rain (clear blue skies). When there is rain - they do not turn on frequently enough. It's a danger in the first scenario, because it's a huge distraction to the driver (wipers intermittently turning on when not raining). After a few days they called me and told me that the vehicle had experienced a "mechanical failure" and that Land Rover decided to ship a new engine to be installed. After a week I had what felt like a brand new car. Now a little over a year later the vehicle is doing the exact same thing with the warning lights, the fan, the loss of power, the stop start function not working, and this time it's no longer under warranty according to the dealership. The engine has failed. This problem is known by Chevrolet Corporation. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection. My safety was put at risk when my vehicle just shut down. The contact stated that he was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer, it was an out-of-state dealer since he had been traveling when he crashed into the deer. The contact stated that the damage was to the front bumper and to the hood of the vehicle which had been deformed due to the crash with the deer. The contact stated that the out-of-state dealer repaired the crash damage and replaced the brakes with new pads and rotors. The contact observed that the vehicle was having a failure of the tire pressure monitoring system light which was constantly illuminated, the windshield wiper motor was failing intermittently and the brakes continued to feel "mushy." The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who determined that the vehicle failures described by the contact were not duplicated following a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired.
