The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and contacted both dealers to schedule a recall repair on the contact's behalf, but the dealers informed the manufacturer that they could not perform the recall repair even though the remedy part was available. We had the dealership come pick up the car and they found code "P2583-54" for the radar system aiming incomplete stored in the car. They performed a static and dynamic re-aiming of the radar and said it was ok. We felt the vehicle was unsafe and entered into arbitration with NCDS. The manufacturer never explained what the cause of the radar malfunction was (such as faulty hardware, rushed manufacturing, etc) and expressly stated that they could NOT guarantee the problem would not happen again. There had been snow and ice present on that day. The sensors had problems (different alarms and sounds but no phantom braking) again on Feb. 16th. These dates are the only two significant snowfall days we have had since purchasing the vehicle. We feel the vehicle is unsafe in any amount of snow or ice and think an investigation should occur into the radar system so that a recall can be issued so that nobody gets hurt or killed. I am submitting this report to bring attention to an ongoing issue with the power steering system in my truck, which appears to be under investigation. Notably, a similar problem led to a recall for the same vehicle in the previous year, prompting me to contribute additional information. This issue first occurred approximately 8 months ago, at intervals of about once a month, given my limited vehicle usage (estimated at 200-300 miles per occurrence). In the past two weeks, there have been 3-4 instances of this occurring. I turn the truck off and back on and everything works normally. Within the last week something new that presented is that when the wheel is turned sharp to the left or right, the steering wheel would violently jump back the opposite direction. I am willing to make the vehicle available for inspection upon request. While the safety risks associated with this malfunction are numerous, the primary concern is the potential loss of steering ability at any speed, posing a significant risk of accidents resulting in severe injury or death. I have not sought professional servicing for the vehicle due to the intermittent nature of the problem, and as of now, the affected component has not undergone inspection. As previously noted above the power steering warning indicator consistently displays on my instrument panel during these occurrences until the truck is turned off and then back on. Online searches let me to forums that discuss this being a common issue although Nissan has never done any form of recalls. This poses a safety concern in that the car is jerking and rpm’s go crazy for a moment. Ascent randomly hesitates when pulling out into traffic.. both at slow speeds and when attempting to pass on interstate.. has been at dealer service numerous times regarding this , it periodically 'walking' when parked and ranfom inability to get hatch to work. Hesitation issue is now worse since prev dealer did 'system update'.. now rpm drop to 1000 or lower, then after 3 or 4 seconds, car revs to 3 or 4 k & takes off..during the 3 or 4 seconds of hesitation, I am literally sitting in the middle of the road as the car initially starts to move forward, then literally just sits there until it revs up and takes off. This is random, so no way to record..and no rhym or reason to know when it's going to happen. Last week it nearly got me t boned by an 18 wheeler when I pulled out across 4 lanes after getting fuel. Have contacted Subaru of America requesting their help but have gotten no reply despite my 7 voicemail left for the assigned rep. My car is a 22 ascent touring with 17k miles..has been at same dealer repeatedly for same issues and their repeated reply us "unable to duplicate, so no issue.".. I am on Subaru Ascent page on FB.. There are numerous people complaining of same nasty hesitation issue with no resolution from their dealer service. I was not worried about the other sensor faults, but brake malfunction is a matter of life and death to myself and others on the road. I have had the car for a little over 4 months and less than 10k miles. I brought the car in to diagnose all the error codes. The dealer said it will cost over $2600 to fix the brake malfunction. I chose this particular car because carfax had well documented service records and Fowler Toyota advertised that every used vehicle for sale has surpassed rigorous inspection. I voiced my complaint to the used car director and he offered numerous default excuses for unforeseen problems inherent in buying a used car. I said I did my due diligence by selectively purchasing a used Toyota Prius, from a reputable Toyota dealership that uses a Toyota certified service center to inspect and recondition vehicles for sale. All the cliche nightmare stories of buying a used car from the side of the road car lots came true in my experience at Fowler Toyota. The worst used car story happened to me, despite performing my due diligence: to buy a used Toyota from a Toyota dealership that uses a Toyota certified service center for re-conditioning vehicles. I even paid more to finance my Prius through Toyota Financial services, which did not offer extended warranty. For God sake, I was buying a Toyota with 121k miles. The wreckage was towed to 1022 Shannon Court, Livermore CA 94550. In July 2023 we were involved in an accident that impacted the front bumper, left front quarter panel, and Subaru EyeSight system of the same vehicle involved in this accident. Repairs after the July 2023 accident were performed by Kraft Body Shop in Santa Clara, CA. With absolutely zero prior indication of a problem, the car became completely immobilized in drive while attempting to turn after being stopped at a traffic light on a busy four lane road. Every imaginable code was cycling through on the dash and all warning code lights came on. I was unable to shift the car into any gear. Meaning, I could not shift into neutral to push the car safely out of the w
... ay of traffic. Additionally the car could not be turned off. I could not roll down the windows and the touchscreen was inoperable. After approximately 6-8 minutes I was able to shift into neutral to push the car to a safer area. The same immobilization issue happened 3 days later after the battery and alternator were replaced. This time, I put the car in reverse and it became immobilized in exactly the same way. The car turned itself off after approximately 10 minutes and was towed to the dealership where it has been for 30 days. The dealership scanned the codes on the car and the result was 300+ error codes. The dealer cannot diagnose the problem but they have been able to replicate the issue. The car is well maintained and there were no warning messages or other symptoms of any problem prior to the first incident January 27, 2024. Last night, an incident occurred, which was previously reported to NHTSA. This morning, while driving to the dealership to address that incident, the vehicle's engine turned off while driving in hybrid/gas mode. ... e in vehicle behavior. Putting the shifter back in drive did nothing, and the car remained inoperable. All the while, the infotainment system remained on. Eventually I was able to restart the engine and drive. During the resulting drive to the dealership, which was done in hybrid/gas mode, the vehicle would not accelerate past 29 mph. The engine would sound normal until reaching approximately 28 mph, at which point it sounded like the engine was cutting off, and then acceleration would cease at 29 mph no matter how much the gas pedal was pressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealership. I have been informed that they are looking into the source of the various problems reported here and in a previous report.
