Oil was leaking when we bought the car. By the time of the first service at the dealer (~7,500 miles), I had noticed the plastic underbody cover has some smeared oil that was making it past the plastic cover and fasteners. I had assumed they would catch any problems, but after the service they did not mention seeing anything, so I kept a closer eye on it. Brought it back about 1 to 2 months later
... (fall 2023) after dripping started occurring (oil was leaking faster, and making it past plastic underbody cover). They sent me home after wiping it up and telling me that there was no leak (there was clearly a leak, and I even showed them photos I had taken). I watched it for 2 more weeks, then brought it back in after taking more photos and showing them again that there was definitely a leak. They confirmed leak (after seeing the car for the 3rd time). Said it was the oil pan gasket, so they put a new gasket in. Earlier in 2024, started noticing oil leak again. Brought it back to the dealer's service department, and they said it's the same problem. They are planning to replace the oil pan this time to fix the issue, but have to wait on part. At this point, vehicle has been at the dealership's service department 4 separate times for the same issue that has not yet been resolved. I had repeatedly expressed concerns, and nothing was done, yet I'm expected to foot the bill now. Since February 12th, I have been back and forth with Subaru and just made the appointment to get the exhaust work completed, with a small contribution from Subaru. However, this past Saturday, [XXX] my vehicle caught on fire while driving. I am fine, but my vehicle has now been deemed a total loss. My car is just out of warranty, and the quote to have my mechanic replace the part is almost $1200 which I am unable to afford and do not feel I should have to pay for. The structure supporting the fresh water tank is insufficient to carry the weight when full of water. The 36 inch long support bars sag ~2 inches when the tank is full, and the tank itself sags another 1.5 inches between the bars. There have been numerous accounts of these tanks detaching and falling out while travelling on the highway, posing a risk to other drivers.

The FRM module on my 2010 MINI Cooper S failed in 2022. I was unable to access multiple functions on the vehicle, including interior and exterior lighting, window controls, and other operations that worked randomly during this time. The total bill for this was over $800 (I have receipts for the purchase and the install). The recall notice from MINI/BMW came in 2023, and according to their website there is still no fix, which makes no sense since I bought an OEM replacement that was fitted to my car in 2022, as I noted here. How can a part that when fails can potentially cause vehicle fires ("thermal incident", per their recall notes) NOT be replaced immediately by the manufacturer? And how can MINI/BMW say they can't get the part when an OEM version is available online? The delay in this fix is unacceptable. My OEM replacement FRM works perfectly, but I am out the $800+ I spent to get it since MINI didn't then and still doesn't have them available, "officially". So if they ever get the part and replace my fully operational replacement for free, I am still out the money I spent in 2020 to make my car operationally safe.
