I was driving on the freeway driving eastbound on 152 and I switch to the fast lane to pass a vehicle and the throttle stopped working, the truck lost speed and the truck turned off, a message popped on the screen saying that I needed to put it in park. I find the release lever to make it neutral and it didn’t work but now that lever got stuck all this is going on while the traffic is at is heaviest. The truck stalled until 2 hrs later when a tow truck came to pick it up. I got dropped off at a safe location and the truck turned on and would shift into gear but it sounded bad. Tire tread is cracking and breaking away in small chunks. The tires are OEM (Toyota Tundra 22') Bridgestone Dueler H/T 265/70R18 model 685 with manufacture date of 1022. At the beginning of April, I purchased a 2003 Subaru Baja from Roseville Auto Center for $10,500 and was reassured by the salesman that it passed a safety inspection and that there were no leaks in the head gasket. I did my own inspection under the hood and underneath the vehicle. I found there to be undercoat sealant which made sense as the vehicle was from Pennsylvania. I asked about the rust co

I took the car home and the following week I took it to my mechanic to see where I should start on modifications and upgrades. However, upon doing a multipoint inspection with the car on a lift he discovered that the undercoat sealant had been sprayed over duct tape to conceal rust holes in the running boards. Further, the undercoat had been sprayed after the frame had gotten significantly damaged by rust, not as a preventative measure as it’s intended to be used. The frame has severe rust damage as does the steering, suspension, and worst of all, the brakes. The backing plates for the brakes are almost entirely disintegrated. Additionally, my mechanic discovered that there was oil and coolant which had leaked from the engine, indicating that there was in fact a head gasket leak. So, this vehicle is in an unusably unsafe condition with a head gasket leak which makes it unreliable. The vehicle was purchased under false pretenses due to intentional misrepresentation by the salesman regarding the reliability and safety of the vehicle. Furthermore, I’ve spoken to multiple mechanics and a dealership and none of them want to attach their name to this vehicle because of the liability attached to it due to these safety issues. Beyond this I have done extensive research to find out how much it would cost to repair these issues and replace these parts myself and it would cost me more than the cost of the vehicle let alone the actual value of the car. The warning light never came off and whenever I was using the turning signal the automated safety systems thought that there was a vehicle in there and automatically moved my steering wheel to the left side which was dangerous and felt intrusive. after like 20 minutes more driving until I was able to stop the car I shut down the vehicle and waited for about 10 minutes and then restarted again and the warning light disappeared. When we received the notification about the Anti-Lock Brake System fuse recall, we called our nearest dealer (Larry H. Miller Hyundai) to make an appointment and found out we had to wait almost four weeks to be seen. When it finally was our appointment day, we brought the car in and we found out that they could only test to see if we needed the Anti-Lock Brake System fuse. We of course failed and
... were told that they ordered the part and would call when it was available within 2-3 days. Five days went by and we never heard back so we called them to find out what was happening with the part. The service agent let us know that since Hyundai only allocates five of these parts to them per day, they have to inform customers as they were seen by the dealership. Which was different from what we were told initially. We then asked, how long would we have to wait and they said at least three to four weeks before we were called that the part was available to us. We waited a month just for the appointment, now we have to wait another month just for the part and possibly another month for another appointment just to have the part put on our car. We always assumed when there is a recall, your car would be fixed right away. Never have we had to wait for a part especially when its for a recall. Its ridiculous that Hyundai only gives five parts for this recall, when it affects so many cars to each dealer.Read more
