The touchscreen shuts down and makes the safety features shut off. This use to happen a few times per quarter, but now is happening a few times per month. Happens always while driving which causes the adaptive cruise to shut off, causing deceleration, the eyesight shuts off, the controls on the keyboard are not available. It takes a minute or two for the screen to reboot and safety features to re-
... engage, this causes distraction and possible safety hazard. Additionally, the speakers randomly will blast so loud it startles and distracts everyone in the car. This seems to happen randomly, can be at start up, or after sound system has been in use. Additionally, the power windows occasionally will not go back up. Thry reverse partway through raising. Then we have to wait a few seconds and try again. Please make Subaru issue a recall and remedy for-the control screen issue. It is the most dangerous problem we’ve listed here.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a persistent and significant transmission issue with my 2017 GMC Yukon Denali, which I purchased in June 2024. The transmission has been malfunctioning, causing the vehicle to jerk and hesitate, particularly during acceleration. This component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Concerns: This issue poses a serious risk to my safety and the sa
... fety of others on the road. The jerking and hesitation during operation can result in delayed acceleration or unexpected speed changes. These problems have occurred while merging into traffic and driving on highways, creating hazardous situations where immediate and reliable vehicle performance is critical. Reproduction and Inspection: The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle. The diagnosis identified a transmission malfunction, which appears consistent with reports from other owners of GMC Yukon models. However, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Warning Symptoms: There were no warning lamps or error messages displayed prior to the onset of the issue. The jerking and hesitation began soon after I purchased the vehicle in June 2024 and have progressively worsened over time. I have discovered that GMC has issued recalls for similar transmission issues in later Yukon models (2021 and 2022). However, despite widespread complaints, earlier models like my 2017 Yukon Denali have not been included in these recalls. Given the safety risks associated with this transmission defect and the frequency of similar complaints from other owners, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter. Prompt action is essential to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers in affected vehicles and to hold the manufacturer accountable for addressing this defect.Read more

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a serious safety issue with my 2021 Jeep Gladiator (VIN: [XXX] ). On Sunday, [XXX], while my wife was driving the vehicle on the highway near our home in southeast Boston, she experienced intense and violent shaking that did not subside until she slowed down and pulled over. She was alone at the time, and the event was frightening and could have l
... ed to a severe accident. Upon researching the issue, she discovered it is commonly referred to as the "Death Wobble," a phenomenon widely reported online and even acknowledged by Jeep dealers, including Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Columbia. Following the incident, I contacted our local Jeep dealer, Best Jeep in Plymouth, MA, to have the vehicle inspected. Their service team identified the issue and replaced the following parts: •Damper Steering •Bolt Shoulder Square Neck •Nut Hex Flange Lock •Bolt Hex Flange Head •Nut Hex Nut Coned Washer When I inquired with Service Advisor Matthew Preston about warranty coverage, he informed me that the repairs were not covered because the vehicle is outside the warranty period. However, he also mentioned that this problem is common in other Jeeps, further emphasizing its systemic nature. From my research, I learned that Jeep has acknowledged this issue in the past. A proposed settlement in 2022 extended warranty coverage for specific models, including certain Jeep Gladiators, to cover the replacement of front suspension dampers. This settlement highlights the widespread nature of the "Death Wobble" and the manufacturer’s recognition of the problem. Numerous Jeep owners have reported similar issues, and the phenomenon is so concerning that it has been the subject of widespread media. I firmly believe that it should be addressed through a factory recall. A vehicle as recent as our 2021 Jeep Gladiator should not be experiencing such critical safety issues. The Airbag warning light has been lit within the dashboard. The front passenger seat airbag is faulty and is not able to correctly sense when a passenger is within the seat or not, which disables the airbags. This can be deadly to the passenger if in an accident. The issue seems to be in the ODS passenger seat mat that determines when the airbag is active or not. If moisture is able to get withi
... n the mat, then it can short the circuit and cause airbags to not deploy. My car was "supposed" to already been fixed with the issue in 2015 on the recall #WQT55, NHTSA Campaign 15V419000, but I don't believe the underlying issue was fixed correctly or the same part has failed again. Looking further into recalls, the exact same issue is happening again with Subarus with #WRA-24 and NHTSA campaign 24V227. The dealer has asked me to pay over $1700 on to replace this part. Subaru America should fully cover the cost of any Passenger ODS issue especially when there have already been two recalls with the exact same issue.Read more

On [XXX] Clay Subaru in Norwood, MA told me that my 2011 Subaru Outback has front subframe rot. All my oil changes are done at the same dealer, yet the problem was not identified before. This is a vehicle made for off road travel (which I have NOT done) and for winter weather. The MPG gauge on the instrument cluster does not light up. This part of the instrument cluster also displays mileage, fuel levels and temperature. This is a safety risk due to not being able to determine fuel levels and mpg ranges at the minimum. This issue for me started 4 months ago on my 2018 Honda HRV with 80k miles on it. This issue has been reported to Honda for vehicles ranging from 2018-20
... 23 models HRV, crv, pilots and fit. The issue has been determined to be that Honda manufacturers the instrument cluster by using lead free solder which over time, the solder cracks from exterior temperature rising and dropping. The damage is these cracks cause the instrument clusters sensors to not function properly and completely fail. Honda suggests buying a new instrument cluster however, the replacement instrument cluster is manufactured with the same lead free solder and this will only be an issue again down the road. Honda dealerships have not yet acknowledged that the lead free solder on the backside of instrument cluster is the problem. The instrument cluster is quoted at $1,300.00. I believe Honda should be investigating this and correcting it as this is a safety risk for a wide range of their vehicles.Read more

When driving on a cold rainy day, I turned on defrost heat to clear my windscreen. No heat came out. AC, fans and zone select worked fine, but no heat. So I had to stop repeatedly on a narrow road to wipe windshield. After reviewing user forums, some pointed to a known problem with these Sprinter vans. Apparently the actuator servo motor that controls the heater flap can get stuck at limit po
... sitions and fail. This explains why my heater is stuck on cold. Also mentioned in forum, there is also a manufacturer software update that prevents this issue by keeping the actuator servo motor from moving to the very last position (cold or hot). This simple preventive fix was never offered to us during our warranty period. Some forum users went further with a modification to servo motor shaft - apparently this fixed the undesirable flexing on heater flap. Now that the servo motor has failed and I no longer have any heat, I do recognize that there were warning signs. I now recall there were occasional instances where my temperature select did not have any effect until I drove the temperature all the way up or down. I believe this was the servo motor getting stuck briefly but it became unstuck before it completely failed. I feel this can be a grave safety issue because of individual circumstance. Most times it may be an annoyance. But in certain conditions (as I experienced) it will be a significant impediment to driver visibility. It also exposed me to roadside risk when I stopped to wipe inside of windshield.Read more

I took my vehicle to my mechanic for inspection check up. My mechanic told me and supplied paperwork from their scans that the P0420 sensor in the cat converter was shot again (3x in 5 years) and needed to be replaced. The engine light had come on 3 weeks beforehand and I had it read and knew what it was. They sent me to Hyundai dealer as it was under warranty with documentation. I get to Hyundai
... dealer tell them it needs the sensor for inspection and an investigation for oil leaking from back of the engine. I also told them I was adding 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes. They told me my mechanic over filled oil by .5 quarts and that's why the engine leaked. They investigated after I disputed by saying an oil change had been performed the day I brought it to them and found a bad head gasket, fuel pump seal, and oil pan seal. They charged my extended warranty for those repairs, shut off engine light for cat converter sensor without replacing it, and made me do an oil consumption test of 1000 miles. Car was still not inspected at this point. After 35 miles check engine light comes back on. Cat converter sensor P0420. I take it back in. They tell me they won't replace it until the oil consumption test is done because they need to know if oil is coming through the exhaust pipes (it was). I complete the test and go in. They tell me engine is burning .5 quarts of oil/1000 miles which is acceptable and as long as I complete oil changes every 5000 miles I will be fine. They then tell me if I want sensor replaced I'm 800 miles over warranty so I have to pay $2400 to replace. Called corporate they're only willing to cover half the repair as "good will" for the cat converter and was quoted $1300 by the dealer in question. Almost a month and still not fixed and still can't get car inspected because the check engine light is tripped by the P0420 sensor in the cat converter. It's the only vehicle my family has. incident I would like to report involves the crash of a 2018 Nissan Sentra (VIN: [XXX] ) that occurred on the morning of [XXX], coinciding with [XXX] on [XXX] at the [XXX] location. It is very concerning and puzzling how, in rainy conditions, after the vehicle collided with the highway barrier, the airbag of the Sentra failed to deploy, resulting in the driver’s head hitting the steering whe
... el and the driver’s neck colliding with the seat. Furthermore, the driver’s seat shifted from its normal position to a horizontal one, making it impossible for the driver to control the car. After two complete spins of the car, it crashed again into the highway barrier from the rear. The failure of the airbag to deploy resulted in severe bruising and pain in the driver’s head, neck, and back. Despite the driver being an athlete with a strong physique, this led to a minimum of one month of being bedridden and unable to work. Additionally, despite undergoing physiotherapy, pain remains in the head and neck area. The car was declared a total loss and could not be repaired after the crash. Do you not think that if the airbag, which is designed for the driver’s safety, does not deploy in such situations, then when will it deploy? If the driver’s seat, in such situations, bends and turns horizontal, depriving the driver of control over the car, how can one drive safely? Aren’t these instances indicative of a malfunction in the vehicle’s safety system? Does this not raise questions about the safety standards and build quality of a brand like Nissan, which is an international company? If the airbags or other safety systems fail to operate in emergency situations, this could jeopardize people’s lives. These safety features are designed to protect drivers and passengers, and it is expected that they function correctly in all circumstances. Coolant was leaking into cylinder #1 in the engine. The engine consequently had to be replaced, and a Ford dealer replaced it. Coolant was leaking into the engine because of a design defect in the engine that Ford has known about for a long time. See Ford Technical Service Bulletin 22-2229. The design defect is a safety risk. My vehicle would not pass Pennsylvania’s vehicle safety inspectio
... n required annually by Pennsylvania law because of the coolant leaking into the cylinder in the engine due to the design defect. Information about Pennsylvania’s vehicle safety inspections required by Pennsylvania law is at [XXX] . “Pennsylvania requires vehicle safety inspections to ensure that vehicles are maintained for safe operation. Safety Inspections can prevent vehicle failure on the highways and crashes that may result in injuries or death.” Id. Coolant leaking into an engine cylinder(s) could result in engines overheating due to low or no coolant, thereby endangering the safety of passengers, other drivers, and others. Vehicle fires because of engine overheating while the vehicle is parked in a home garage could result in a house fire, thereby endangering the safety and lives of persons in the house and neighbors. Additionally, coolant leaking into an engine cylinder(s) results in excessive smoke/emissions when the vehicle is started, thereby negatively affecting air quality and the safety and health of everyone who breathes the contaminated air. The clouds of smoke produced by coolant burning off when the vehicles are started in a driveway or parking lot could obscure the vision of other drivers or pedestrians or distract them, thereby endangering their safety, the safety of the vehicle occupants, and the safety of others. Ford paid about 20% of the engine replacement cost, and I had to pay the rest, which was $7,037.08 including $400.02 PA sales tax. Several days ago, the twelve volt battery on my car was replaced because the car just suddenly died overnight while sitting in my garage. They told me that the battery needed to be replaced when I went to the dealer. They replaced it and now less than a week later, I was driving on the highway and suddenly the car Slowed to no more than 27 miles an hour with warnings about the electrical system no

I had to put my flashers on while I was driving down the highway until I was able to pull off and have the car towed to another dealer that was closer to the scene. Not sure what they are going to say, but obviously this was very scary as well as a nuisance.Read more
