On [XXX], at approximately [XXX], while driving my 2025 Kia Sportage with the lane assist system engaged in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, near the AT&T building at [XXX] , the system suddenly jerked the steering wheel sharply to the right while I was crossing an intersection. The incident caused significant vehicle damage, leaking fluid, and left me stranded on the side of the road in unsafe heat conditions without being able to keep the car running for air conditioning. No warning lights appeared before the failure. The system appeared to malfunction without cause. This unexpected steering correction created a serious risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. I trusted this safety feature, but instead it caused an accident. My 2020 Honda Ridgeline has an Auto Idle/Start system. The truck engine turns off when it stops, then automatically turns on when brake is released or gas pedal pressed. There was a Honda notice issued that the system may not automatically restart. A fix (software update) from Honda was implemented on my truck on 03/29/23. This "fix" did not work. On 09/05/25 at 1:25 pm I pulled up to an in
... tersection. The Auto Idle system automatically turned off the engine as intended. About 2 minutes later, when the brake was released and gas pedal pressed, the engine did not restart. The truck stalled. Various efforts (~ 1 minute of panic) ensued to start the engine. Eventually, put the truck in park, waited, then started the engine. This situation occurred during high traffic at a busy intersection. It caused other drivers to take risks pulling out in front of other cars to get around my stalled vehicle. It was a very dangerous situation. A class action lawsuit was filed against Honda about this. Honda claims their software update fixed the problem. My scary experience shows that it did not fix the issue. Their auto idle/start system is simply unsafe. Also, it is not possible to permanently disable it.Read more

2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL Convenience The car is equipped with FAW Forward Attention Warning System which is supposed to give a warning if the driver's focus is diverted from looking at the road. The problem is that while driving in what Hyundai calls HDA (Highway Driving Assist) which activates when the car is placed in adaptive cruise control (cruise control that keeps the vehicle at a set speed
... and distance from the cars ahead) and lane driving assist (driving assist to keep the vehicle centered in the lane) the car issues far too many false warnings telling the driver to "keep your eyes on the road". While in HDA, the car monitors the driver's eyes and head position using a driver facing camera, part of the FAW (Forward Attention Warning system) or DDMS (Direct Driver Monitoring System) to assure the driver is focused on the road ahead. However, in the 2025 Hyundai, this system is so flawed that the car is practically undrivable in the HDA mode with cruise control and lane driving assist engaged issuing too many false warnings, that the driver is not focusing on the road. The multiple warnings, in some cases every few seconds, is extremely distracting taking the driver's attention away from safely controlling the vehicle. The system which is intended to make the vehicle safer is instead such a distraction it makes the car unsafe due to the constant false warnings requiring driver attention to address them and away from safely operating the vehicle.Read more

Subject: Urgent Safety Concern – 2016 Jeep Cherokee Gear Shifting Issue Good Morning, I am writing to report a serious safety concern with my 2016 Jeep Cherokee. I have been experiencing persistent issues with the gear shifter and transmission that I believe may be related to a known defect or may warrant investigation under a recall. The gear shifter frequently locks up and does not change g
... ears properly. It stays in the wrong gear for an extended period—both when going uphill and downhill—before finally shifting, often accompanied by a loud noise. In some cases, the gear becomes stuck entirely, forcing me to take my foot off the accelerator. This delay in shifting poses a significant risk, especially in traffic, as I temporarily lose control of the vehicle's speed. During these moments, pressing the accelerator has no effect, which could easily lead to a dangerous situation. While the vehicle is still drivable, it consistently displays warning indicators suggesting a serious issue that needs professional attention. These problems are ongoing and seem to be getting worse over time. Given the safety implications, I am requesting that Jeep investigate this matter urgently and confirm whether my vehicle is subject to any active recalls or technical service bulletins (TSBs). If not, I would still appreciate guidance on how to resolve this as soon as possible, as I am concerned for my safety and that of others on the road. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] Email [XXX] VIN# [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

This is a follow-up to my last complaint because I never received a response. A year ago, Nissan issued a safety recall for some 2019 and 2020 Nissan Leafs that they still don't have a remedy for (Manufacturer Recall # R24B2; NHTSA Recall # 24V-700). This recall instructs affected owners not to DC-fast charge our vehicles, which means we can't DRIVE our vehicles in many applications. Nissan is
... supposedly always "finalizing" this remedy, and the remedy is supposedly always "coming soon." Then, when the promised release date comes and goes, Nissan just announces a new future release-date for their still non-existent remedy. This has been happening for a year. Owners are supposed to just not use our vehicles the way they were advertised. We're supposed to just not drive our vehicles on trips requiring a DC-fast charge, even though the ability to DC-fast charge is one of the reasons we bought this car. How is this legal? Is the NHTSA planning to do anything to make Nissan issue a remedy for this safety recall?Read more

The Eye Sight warning system is activated occasionally and VDC is cut off. The dealer diagnosed code C1742, and recommended replacing the control unit due to a pressure sensor issue after measurement. The units are on back order, which indicates to me a wider spread problem. VDC units should not fail even after 10 years.
