The contact owns a 2021 Subaru Legacy. The contact stated that while his wife was reversing out of the garage, the rearview camera froze. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact’s wife was able to reset the rearview camera with the assistance of his daughter who looked up the information on the internet. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that no issues were found. The
... contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who completed a 504-software update; however, the failure reoccurred twice while the contact was driving from the dealer to his residence. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would either ship a head unit to the dealer for the repair of the vehicle or they would buy back the vehicle. The manufacturer followed up with the contact and informed him that they would not assist as the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V766000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the vehicle year was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.Read more

I'm having continuing issues with premature discharging of the battery even though I now have a heavy duty battery and also carry an emergency jump start battery in case. My Outback is equipped with Onstar so it does draw power at all times, my relatively new Optima battery has shown being drawn down to 25% charge on the Optima battery charger after only 24 hours. Of non use.
Incident date: Nov 15, 2021
The battery failed for no apparent reason. After getting it jumped, it would fail to keep a full charge. Starting the car, it was always a gamble as to whether it would start-up or not. This lasted a month or so until the car battery was completely dead. I then had a tow truck come from my insurance to replace the battery.

While driving down the interstate, no other vehicles in sight, heard a pop and immediately a crack formed in the windshield (at the bottom in the exact middle of the glass) which spread vertically and has since branched out horizontally. The RCTA system operates very poorly. When backing up and we see a car in the rear camera screen approaching from the back side of our car, we cannot hear or see any allert. My wife and I are both seniors in our seventies and I suffer from normal age-related hearing loss....my wife not so much. Her hearing is quite normal. But we cannot hear the alert alarm. Also, the visual alert is located
... in a place where you do not look when you are backing up. It wasn't until I owned the car for four months that I discovered that there is a visual RCTA alert in the side view mirrors (of all places)....an area one does not look at while backing up. With a car with a rear camera, your eyes are usually glued to the camera display screen when backing up; after all, it is a safety device. We have nearly had a collision a half dozen times already. I contacted Subaru about this issue, and they told me that there is nothing that they can do and that in their words "As you can imagine, finding the right balance for all of our owners is a difficult job." this sound alert should be adjustable...it is not. And the visual alert should be in a place where your eyes are looking when backing up. Right now, the Subaru RCTA is worthless to us.Read more

My battery drains rapidly on many occasions, and as you can assume it is never a fun time being stranded. When you own a car this expensive, you expect it to work. We have replaced the battery twice already in our 2019. The car completely shuts down with the drained battery and leaves you stranded and begging for a battery jump. With two kids and being a women this leaves me vulnerable to many dan
... gers. I would say including the time Subaru replaced the battery and the time my husband replaced it, we have lost total power due to this failure a dozen times or more. If I’m loading feed bags or recycling and the trunk is open for more then 30 minutes ,without the car being turned on burning fuel and releasing carbon dioxide into my face, the car will die. I am aware of it’s sensitive battery and try to avoid these situations, BUT it happened again on vacation this weekend prompting me to be quite angry with the car. It is a definite issue with the Subaru its-self and not an error on its humans part. The car battery drains completely because of wiring issues. The defect has cost me over $500 plus hours of stress and anxiety. I’d like to join the class action law suit against Subaru. After reading that they, Subaru corporation, claim no responsibility.Read more

The Subaru Eyesight system malfunctioned while I was driving. All Eyesight components were enabled at the time of the incident, including pre collision braking and forward collision warning. When the traffic light turned green, I took my foot off the brake and onto the gas to begin accelerating. I accelerated through the large intersection reaching approximately 20 miles per hour. The speed limit is 25 or 30 there so I was continuing to accelerate to that speed and was just about through the intersection when the pre collision braking suddenly engaged with no warning at all. My foot was still on the gas trying to accelerate when this happened. All of the lights that show on the windshield seemed to light up red, and it showed that the pre collision braking had engaged on the dashboard screen behind the steering wheel. The car came to an immediate stop in the middle of the road and would not move forward. I took my foot off the gas and my car would still not move. My dashboard said something along the lines of “firmly press brake to hold stop.” I hit the brake, then everything returned to normal and I could move forward. I moved forward, safely switched to the right lane and pulled into the nearest driveway to get off the road and park. I then disabled all Eyesight features and called my Subaru dealership who said they will “diagnose and recalibrate” the system on 1/14/2022. The windshield on my 2018 Impreza car cracked on the lower left drivers side. The crack was unexpected and was not triggered by anything. It arrived out of no where. There is no chip or indentation. Crack is about the length of 2 dollar bills. I feel this is a manufacturing defect and should be paid for by Subaru. This is absolutely faulty craftsmanship and I am extremely disappointed with the dur

Not to mention, I do not even want to think about the lack of protection this windshield would have provided me if I were ever been in an accident. As a mother, I prefer to drive a vehicle that is safe with my 2 year old daughter in the back seat. I read that there is an ongoing lawsuit with Subaru concerning 2017-2019 vehicles with windshield defects. I am not the only individual experiencing this. Not to mention, this is not an expense I was prepared for and shouldn’t have to be, if Subaru would make a windshield that was not faulty and safe for its consumers! Subaru needs to make this right and be considerate of its consumers.Read more
