ON MY WAY HOME FROM DRIVING MY PARENTS TO THE AIRPORT ON MAY 18TH, 2010 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:00PM MY CHECK ENGINE AND LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED HOME AND WAS THERE FOR A FEW HOURS. AROUND 7:00PM I WENT OUT TO DINNER WITH A FRIEND. I RETURNED BACK HOME SHORTLY AFTER 10:00PM. AT APPROXIMATELY 1:10AM ON MAY 19TH, 2010 I HEARD THE SOUND OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS FIRE CRACKERS FROM THE FRONT
... OF MY HOME. I WENT OUTSIDE TO INVESTIGATE THE NOISE AND TO MY COMPLETE SHOCK MY ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS IN FLAMES. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED 911. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE AND SAID THEY BELIEVED IT WAS ELECTRICAL. I CALLED THE FIRE INVESTIGATOR THAT SAME DAY AND LEFT A MESSAGE FOR HIM TO COME BACK OUT. ON MAY 20TH, 2010 AROUND 9AM MICHAEL BURKHART FROM CAPE CORAL FIRE, RESCUE & EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SERVICES CAME TO MY HOME TO INVESTIGATE THE FIRE. HE DETERMINED THAT IT WAS CAUSED AROUND THE WIRE HOUSING TOWARDS THE BACK OF THE ENGINE AS HE POINTED OUT WHERE THE MOST HEAT WAS LOCATED. ALSO THE WIRING THAT GOES TO THE HOUSING IN THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY BURNED TO THE METAL UNLIKE THE WIRING INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHICH STILL HAD SOME PLASTIC COATING OVER IT. THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS THE REAR HUB SPEED SENSOR ASSEMBLY: $605.00 TO REPLACE!!! WE HAD KURT'S AUTOMOTIVE IN ROCKFORD TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT IT, THEY COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING THAT SHOWED JUSTIFICATION OF THAT BEING THE PROBLEM. SO IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AND IT H

SECOND TIME I CALLED I TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT ANDERSON, HE SAID BRING IT IN, IT'S UNDER WARRANTY. ANDERSON UPDATED THE ECM/PCM MODULES, CLEANED CARBON BUILDUP OUT OF COMBUSTION CHAMBERS, ADDED FUEL CLEANER. AND THE VERY NEXT DAY AS MY WIFE LEFT FROM A TRIP 120 MILES AWAY TO HEAD BACK HOME IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN!!!! HARD, EXTENDED STARTUP OF ENGINE! NO SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS WHEN THIS HAPPENS & THERE HAVE BEEN NO ERROR CODES IN COMPUTER. ALTHOUGH THE SERVICE CENTER TOLD ME THEY CAN RESET THEMSELVES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. I PURCHASED A SCION 2009 XB FOR MY MOM. A FEW MONTHS AGO, SHE COMPLAINED IT ACCELERATED UNEXPECTEDLY IN HER DRIVEWAY. I ASSUMED OPERATOR ERROR. SHE WAS KILLED IN IT TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN IT LEFT THE ROADWAY AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH SPEED AND WITNESSES SAID IT ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. DRIVING ABOUT 4 MILES AN HOUR, THE ACCELERATOR OVER POWERED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. RPM'S WHERE MAXED EVEN AFTER THE INITIAL COLLISION. PURCHASED 2005 SCION TC NEW ON 12/29/2004 HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH INTERIOR TRIM AND PAINT. THEN LAST JUNE (2009) WHEN OPENING THE TRUNK (HATCH BACK) THE LATCH PLATE CAME OFF THE CAR IN MY HAND HANGING BY A CORD. THIS PLATE IS MADE OF VERY THIN PLASTIC AND ATTACHED TO THE CAR WITH THIN PLASTIC CLIPS. THE CLIPS ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO WITH STAND THE CONSTANT USE AND AMOUNT OF UPWARD PRESSURE
... IT TAKES TO RAISE THE HATCH. IN DECEMBER 2009 THE LEVER ON THE DRIVERS SEAT BACK TO MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD TO ALLOW PASSENGERS IN THE BACK STUCK AND WOULDN'T MOVE. COUPLE DAYS LATER THE LEVER WOULD MOVE BUT DIDN'T WORK. THE SEAT BACK CAN ONLY BE MOVED NOW USING THE LEVER AT THE SIDE OF THE SEAT BOTTOM. THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE TRUNK/HATCH PIECE BROKE OFF AND UNDER 60,000 MILES WHEN THE SEAT LEVER STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE A 2005 SCION XB. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN THAT SIT IN THE BACK SEAT IN BOOSTER SEATS. THE LAP BELTS ARE REALLY LOOSE ON THIS VEHICLE(MY CHILDREN CAN ACTUALLY STAND UP ON THE FLOOR AND MOVE TO THE MIDDLE SEAT WITH THE SEAT BELT BUCKLED IN, DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS NORMAL). YESTERDAY MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING ON HER BELT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND LOOPED IT AROUND HER NECK. SINCE THE BELT IS SO LOOSE IT DID

AT THAT POINT IT WASN'T CHOKING HER AND I RAN AROUND THERE (PASSENGER REAR) AND TRIED TO HELP. HER HEAD WOULD NOT FIT THROUGH THE LOOP TO GET HER OUT. I COULD NOT GET THE SEAT BELT TO COME OUT ANY BECAUSE IT WAS LOCKED UP. THE MORE WE STRUGGLED THE TIGHTER THE SEAT BELT KEPT GETTING AROUND HER NECK. IT STARTED TO CHOKE HER AND I GRABBED A PAIR OF SCISSORS THAT I KEEP IN THE GLOVE DEPARTMENT AND CUT THE BELT. I ONLY RECENTLY STARTED KEEPING SCISSORS IN THE CAR AND IF I DID NOT HAVE THEM MY DAUGHTER WOULD PROBABLY BE DEAD RIGHT NOW. I WOULD HAVE HAD TO WATCH HER GET STRANGLED TO DEATH AND NOTHING I COULD DO. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT SOME KIND OF EMERGENCY RELEASE TO UNLOCK A SEAT BELT IN AN EMERGENCY. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH THE SEAT BELT, BUT KIDS DO STUPID THINGS, AND THERE SHOULD BE AN EMERGENCY WAY TO RELEASE THAT SEAT BELT.
