CAR WAS PARKED AFTER BEING DRIVEN IN NORMAL CONDITIONS. WHEN CAR WAS STARTED, STABILITY CONTROL, TRAC OFF AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WERE LIT. TOOK CAR TO REPAIR SHOP. LIGHTS WERE RESET, INDICATIONS WERE THERE WAS A LOOSE CLAMP. TWO DAYS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY I HAD GOTTEN BAD GAS. PRIOR TO ALL THIS, I HAD PURCHASED A FULL TANK OF GAS, BUT NOTI
... CED AS I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AFTER MAKING THE PURCHASE THAT THE CAR SEEMED "SLUGGISH" AT TIMES, ALMOST TO THE POINT OF STALLING OUT. IT NEVER STALLED OUT. HE SUGGESTED PUTTING AN ADDITIVE IN MY FUEL TANK, RESET THE LIGHTS AND I WENT ON. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. WENT BACK TO THE MECHANIC. HE DID A DEEPER DIAGNOSIS. AGAIN HE STATED THE SAME 10 FUEL-RELATED CODES CAME UP. HE STATED I SHOULD GO TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS OF A CANISTER PROBLEM. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE EVAPORATOR CANISTER WAS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT, AS WELL AS THE FACT I NEEDED A NEW GAS CAP. LIGHTS DISAPPEARED LATER FOR A WEEK AND CAME BACK ON. WHILE WE REPAIR WE SAW WIRE CONNECTION WHICH GOES TO REAR SENSOR WERE CORRODED AND SENSOR CONNECTION WERE ALSO CORRODED BECAUSE OF WATER DAMAGE WHICH CAN LEAK THOUGH THIS TYPE OF CONNECTION. THE HUB WE HAD REPLACE OF AMOUNT OF CORRODE HUB CONNECTION BROKE. NEW HUB DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM SO ANOTHER SENSOR IS ALSO CORRODE EVEN IF THE WHEEL BEARING IS GOOD. ONE MORE THING THE ABS SENSOR IS A PART OF HUB ASSEMBLY AND COULD NOT BE REPLACE ITSELF. I TALK TO TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE AND SHE SAID ALL THOSE FIXES ARE OUT MY POCKET. EVEN IF I AM ORIGINAL OWNER ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE THE VEHICLE IT LOCKS ITSELF. BEFORE I THOUGHT KIDS PLAYING WITH KEYS BUT FEW TIMES HAPPEN WHEN KEYS IN MY HAND, I OPEN THE CAR AND IT KEEPS LOCK ITSELF FOR QUIT AMOUNT OF TIMES. I PURCHASED A USED 2007 SCION TC ON LABOR DAY 2010. I NOTICED THAT THE TRUNK LATCH COVER WAS A LITTLE FLIMSY FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT, COMMONLY USED PART OF THE CAR. DURING THE COLDER MONTHS, OPENING THE TRUNK WAS A DELICATE PROCEDURE BECAUSE OFTEN I FELT THE COVER WOULD BREAK FROM JUST TRYING TO OPEN THE TRUNK. ON 2/27/11 MY 13YR OLD SON OPENED THE TRUNK AFTER I HAD JUST SHUT IT TO PUT IN HIS LUG

IT SEEMS UNBELIEVABLE TO ME THAT FOR A PART THAT IS SEEMINGLY SO FRAGILE AND EASY TO BREAK THAT 1. THERE ARE BARELY ANY USED PARTS TO REPLACE IT 2. VERY FEW SITES THAT EVEN SELL IT AND 3. THAT THIS KIND OF THING WOULDN'T BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, CONSIDERING THE MANY NUMBER OF FORUMS I'VE SEEN WITH OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING. CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE WITH THIS DAMAGE SO I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY AUTO INSURANCE, WHO DECLARES THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED GLASS BREAKAGE (I.E. WINDSHIELD) SO I MUST PAY $500 DEDUCTIBLE TOWARD $892 FOR REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA SCION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRYING TO DECREASE IN SPEED HER VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP TO 47 MPH. SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY PLACING IT INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY HAVE NOT INFORMED HER OF THE DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9600. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
