Yesterday on 7/13, my family and I were fully stopped and parked in a parking spot (car was in park, to the best of my knowledge). The front passenger had just exited the vehicle and was opening the back door where my kids were just beginning to get out of their seats. At that moment, something occurred that caused the car to speed over the parking curb, across a pedestrian sidewalk and struck a b
... rick and glass building storefront. What's odd is, assuming the car was in park, which i believe it was, the car accelerated to max speed and the airbags did not deploy and the hazard lights never turned on after the accident. In addition, the car has safety features designed to detect objects and avoid collisions and should switch the car to park when the car is stopped and doors are opened. I am happy and motivated to make the car available for inspection immediately. I really want to understand what happened and why for my own benefit (and peace of mind) but mostly because I don't want this to happen to any one else in the car or pedestrians in the area. Had my car been parked just a little further down the block, families were eating lunch at an outdoor restaurant which could have ended in serious injury or worse. My car is currently in the tow yard that the police department picked. My insurance is asking me where to tow and I want to make sure it ends up somewhere that can fully diagnose what happened based on the car's internal computer (if possible). The car has been seen by my local police department and fire department that came on site. But, no formal inspection has occurred yet. But will likely be done this week. No warning messages were shown on the car prior to the accident and potential malfunction.Read more

While driving at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly began to shudder and produce unusual mechanical noise. Within seconds, the car lost all ability to accelerate despite pressing the gas pedal. A family member
... who is a new driver was operating the vehicle at the time, with passengers on board. This created a serious safety risk to both my family and surrounding drivers. The situation could have resulted in a serious accident if it had occurred on a highway instead of a city street. The problem was diagnosed by a trusted independent repair shop as a complete internal failure of the CVT transmission. They confirmed the component failure occurred without any external damage or signs of neglect. The transmission had to be replaced at significant cost. The component has not been inspected by Honda. However, I have dashcam video showing the moment of failure, including the vehicle shuddering, power loss, and driver reaction. The video clearly shows the dangerous nature of the incident and is available for inspection upon request. To my knowledge, this is a known issue affecting this generation of Honda CR-Vs with CVT transmissions. Honda refused reimbursement assistance despite full documentation, citing the vehicle being out of warranty — even though this is the type of premature mechanical failure their Goodwill Assistance policy is supposed to address. No warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms appeared before the failure.Read more

... eously caught fire while parked. I immediately contacted Mercedes-Benz Roadside Assistance, and the vehicle was towed for inspection. Mercedes-Benz later claimed the fire originated in the engine compartment, yet took no accountability and cited “missing components” as an excuse to avoid liability. Photographic evidence shows that the parts were present immediately after the fire. Mercedes-Benz denied that NHTSA Recall 21V961000 applied to this vehicle, despite clear similarity in symptoms (fire risk due to fuel or electrical issues). I was also never notified of any fire risk. Furthermore, towing coordination failures led to my vehicle being sent to a third-party lot, incurring unauthorized fees. Safety Concern: The spontaneous combustion of this vehicle presents a serious public safety risk. I am concerned this issue may be more widespread and underreported. Mercedes-Benz’s failure to take accountability and deflecting blame could endanger other consumers. Desired Action: 1. Federal investigation into similar fire-related complaints involving 2019 GLC300s. 2. Reconsideration of eligibility under Recall 21V961000 or related campaigns. 3. Vehicle Safety Concern - Unintended Vehicle Movement Vehicle Information: 2024 Hyundai Palisade Incident Date: XXXXXXX Location: Commissary parking lot in [XXX] Incident Description: On XXXXXXX my wife parked our Hyundai Palisade in a designated parking space at the commissary. She properly engaged the parking gear selection and turned off the engine. After opening the rear hatch to retrieve shop
... ping bags and securely closing it, she proceeded into the commissary to shop. Upon returning approximately 15 minutes later, she discovered the vehicle was no longer in its original parking position. The Palisade had rolled away from where it was parked and collided with a parked 2018 Toyota Sienna, resulting in property damage to both vehicles. Actions Taken: Due to concerns about a potential mechanical defect that may have caused this unintended vehicle movement, we immediately contacted Hyundai customer service. We have since scheduled and completed diagnostic inspections at two separate Hyundai dealerships. Both dealerships performed comprehensive diagnostics but reported finding no mechanical issues. Safety Concerns: This incident represents a significant safety hazard. The unintended movement of our vehicle in a parking lot could have resulted in serious injury to pedestrians or other motorists. We are deeply concerned about the potential for this incident to recur and cause harm to others. Request for Investigation: We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter to determine if there is a systemic safety defect in the Hyundai Palisade that could cause unintended vehicle movement when properly parked. We believe this incident warrants investigation to protect public safety. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I had had issues with the engine cutting out. Recently, I noticed a loud engine rumbling and rough noise during idling and acceleration. I took it to a Honda dealership, an
... d they diagnosed a failing high-pressure fuel pump that required immediate replacement. There were no warning lights. The most frustrating part is that so many other 2018 Odyssey owners are reporting the exact same issue. It’s all over forums and Reddit — people with Odysseys from around this year are dealing with premature high-pressure fuel pump failures. This is clearly not an isolated case — it's a widespread defect that Honda has yet to acknowledge. While Honda recalled the low-pressure fuel pump, they’ve ignored the high-pressure pump — even though it presents serious drivability and safety concerns. I am being forced to pay $1,775 out-of-pocket at a Honda dealership to replace this failed part. I’m urging NHTSA to investigate this pattern and hold Honda accountable. This is not normal wear and tear — it’s a systemic failure that deserves a recall and reimbursement for affected owners.Read more

On several occasions in the previous two months, I have been driving during heavy rain. On the first occasion, while high speed wipers were on, they suddenly stopped working. I slowed down, but was able to get them going again prior to pulling to the shoulder of the highway. I had to switch to the slow wiper speed to get them going. I switched back to the high speed wipers due to heavy rain, and k
... ept stopping each time. It continued this cycle and stayed on after about 15 attempts. Today, on [XXX], I drove down [XXX] from Flint, MI towards Detroit at approximately [XXX]. The wipers again quit working and I had to switch the wiper speed to get it working again while at full highway speed during a deluge of rain and nearly had to stop in a construction zone with no shoulder and heavy traffic, nearly causing a collision until I was able to get the wipers to begin working again. On a previous occasion, I turned them on. When the rain stopped, I was unable to stop the wipers, but was eventually able to stop them by carefully moving the intermittent delay wheel to a position between on and off. It appeared that there may be a short in the wiper circuit. This was a definite safety issue in that my attention was taken away from driving to try to fix the wiper situation. In speaking with my service adviser at Randy Wise Toyota in Grand Blanc, MI, he went out to their lot and tried to duplicate the problem, which he confirmed happened on that same Toyota Tacoma model. I attempted to get this repaired under warranty. Their response was that there was nothing they could do since it appeared to be in the design of the wiper system. My opinion is that this is a serious safety issue which needs to be addressed immediately. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
