Car went into Limp mode, immediately brought to a Honda dealership. Planet Honda in NJ. Misfire in cylinder 3. Causation of misfire was a defect head gasket allowing coolant to flow into cylinder 3 causing a vehicle shut down and $3625 in repair costs. Warranty covered it but I have heard many other cases with this have not.

There was no concern made by dealer stating car was unsafe to drive. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Was inspected before the car broke down, but currently being evaluated by local shop. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There was an unknown noise coming from the engine, and dealer stated they needed to remove oil pan to diagnose the noise but stated it could be bearing related. Since my initial submission: Second Dealership Refusal: I attempted to bring the vehicle to a second authorized Jeep dealership for inspection and diagnosis. They refused any service, stating they would not inspect or repair the vehicle.
... This is now the second dealership to reject the vehicle after the incident. Obtained Diagnostic Printouts: Despite refusing service, the second dealership was convinced to provide printed codes from the vehicle. These codes show multiple system errors recorded at a very low vehicle mileage, including communication failures with the ABS control module, brake system internal failure, and CAN bus errors. These indicate potential electronic or computer system faults that could have occurred immediately before or during the brake failure. Manufacturer Warranty Issue: Immediately after the incident, Jeep opened a warranty case #93917003 for the vehicle. However, during subsequent communication, I was informed that this brand-new vehicle has no manufacturer's warranty at all. This is extremely concerning, as the vehicle was purchased new with only minimal mileage and no prior damage or modifications. Vehicle Condition: The vehicle remains undrivable and unsafe to operate. Jeep or its authorized dealers have performed no corrective action. Given that this was a brand-new vehicle with extremely low mileage purchased solely for personal family travel, and that both authorized dealerships have refused to address a major safety defect, I am requesting that NHTSA treat this as an urgent safety matter. The refusal to investigate by Jeep dealerships, combined with the unexpected claim that there is no manufacturer warranty, leaves this defect unresolved and poses an ongoing safety risk if similar failures occur in other vehicles.Read more

The water leak in the rear liftgate and spare tire area poses potential safety risks. Accumulated water can damage electrical components, such as wiring or audio systems, which may lead to malfunctions in critical vehicle systems. For example, water ingress could affect rear lighting, sensors, or other electronic modules, potentially compromising visibility or functionality during operation. Additionally, water accumulation may contribute to corrosion or mold growth, posing long-term structural or health risks for occupants. These issues could reduce vehicle reliability and increase the risk of accidents, especially in adverse weather conditions. 3.The issue has been acknowledged by Ford in TSB 24-2044, which provides a service procedure to identify and address the leak path. The Bill Currie Ford dealership in Tampa, FL has inspected my vehicle on several occasions, recently July 15, 2025 and confirmed water leakage in the rear liftgate area consistent with TSB 24-2044.The dealer will not repair unless I pay over $2200 for the repair, which I refuse for a manufacture defect. 4. To date, the vehicle has not been inspected by the police or insurance representatives, but the issue align with the TSB report. 5. At a red light in an intereection the Auto engine idle stopper feature stopped the engine and it failed to power / restart the engine. The cars electral system locked up. The car is 15 yrs old but over the years have had to replace the brake light bulb harness several times The brake light bulbs get too hot thus melting the bulb receptacle causing the brake lights not to illuminate. I took delivery of vehicle from dealer on [XXX]. On [XXX] I was driving on the freeway when a high voltage sign and the message "Pull off road when safe" lit up the dashboard. The engine lost all power and I was able to coast to a stop on the shoulder. After 10-15 minutes, the vehicle would restart and I dropped at the dealership for a fix - it had less than 2,000 miles. They kept it until 7/2
... 8/25 when they said it was a "glitch" and updated software. On [XXX] I was again driving on the freeway when the "Pull off road when safe" message displayed again and the engine once again stopped but I was fortunately able to coast to an exit ramp. There was a Ford dealership right there and three guys came out to try to get it started. Again after 10 minutes of sitting the vehicle started and we pulled into a service bay where the dealership still holds my vehicle. Their diagnostic was the hybrid battery junction box needed to be replaced. It is on backorder and is still not fixed. However, both times the engine shut completely down which is extremely dangerous on freeways with semi-trucks and traffic driving fast and all you can do is coast to a stop. I was fortunate in each episode that the truck was not hit by another vehicle. I have zero trust that this vehicle will run properly even with the dealer fix. I have been in contact with Ford about buying the vehicle back as I read similar stories online. This seems to be a huge safety issue.
