The engine coolant control valve on my 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 with the LM2 Duramax diesel failed. The failed part is still in my truck, which remains at the dealership awaiting replacement. The repair is delayed due to the part being on nationwide backorder, further highlighting that this is a widespread issue. The sudden loss of power in high-speed traffic created a serious safety hazard, as it significantly increased my risk of being rear-ended or involved in a collision with faster-moving vehicles. I drove the truck directly to the dealership after the incident, where the problem was immediately confirmed. The issue was diagnosed and confirmed by the dealership, which identified the coolant control valve as the failed component. To my knowledge, GM has not yet inspected this specific failure. Prior to the loss of power, the truck displayed a “Reduced Engine Power” warning message and the check engine light on the dashboard. These warnings appeared at the time of the failure. Importantly, GM has already acknowledged this issue by issuing Special Coverage N252508341 for 2021 and 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 trucks with the same LM2 engine and the same coolant control valve part numbers. However, the 2020 models (like mine) were excluded from that program despite using the identical part and engine configuration.Read more

I was within the town limits so I was driving slowly. When I approached the first stop light in town I saw that it was red. There were of three or four vehicles stopped at that light. ... seemed to speed up. I was able to avoid hitting the truck in front of me by going around it. No vehicles were coming towards me but there were some stopped at the other side of the light. I drove up on the sidewalk to avoid hitting anyone. At that point the front passenger side of the car hit & snapped a pole. The car did not stop immediately upon impact. It stopped acclerating and came to a stop about 10 feet past the pole. I am not sure how fast the car was moving when it hit the pole but I was only going about 5 mph when I put my foot on the break. I would estimate the distance my car traveled from the moment I put my foot on the break until the car stopped was approximately 100-120 feet. It felt like the car went into the cruise resume mode and was trying to accelerate to a predetermined speed. I had not been using the cruise control that day but that is exactly what it felt like. There was one other time this year that the car lunged forward without using the gas pedal. It stopped quickly for me and I just assumed that I had hit the cruise resume button, although I also hadn't been using the cruise that day. The insurance company took the car to an impound lot two hours away. I am sure there has been no inspection and my insurance has not informed me of the status of having my car totaled or repaired. Because of the age of the car, and damage, they think it will be totaled. Yes, my safety and the safety of anyone near me was at risk. The car malfunctioned and the fact no one was hurt was miraculous. There were no warning messages before this accident.Read more

I thought it could possibly be my front left tire since the noise was coming from the front left side of the car. so I had my tires checked and had a rotation done. The car continued to make the noise and wobbly when I would turn the steering wheel. I felt the vehicle may possibly not be safe to drive especially on the highway so I decided to make an appointment for Monday September 15,2025. I brought my vehicle to the San Antonio Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership early morning to get the issue checked. I had to leave my vehicle there due to the service advisor stating it would take 2 days for the diagnostic to be done. They inspected the vehicle and ran diagnostic. Two days later let me know their tech test drove the vehicle replicated the clunk noise and used a special diagnostic tool called Chassis Ear tool in order to pin point the issue and found that it was coming from the steering gear. They gave me an estimate stating the steering gear and outer tie rods ends need to be replaced. When I spoke to the service advisor he told me they would have to order a rack and pinion steering gear system. Stated the repair will not be covered under jeep train warranty and my limited warranty already expired just 4 months ago. My vehicle only has 35,500 miles. I keep up with all maintenance and multi point inspections have been done on my vehicle on time. One day, first came the engine light, my wife was driving to work, the car started shaking heavily, then the vehicle failed to supply enough power to go above 50 mph. She was in the middle of the interstate, she felt that she was going to crash, or someone will crash into her. She was terrified, rightly so. When she finally reached a safe place to stop, she called me. When I came to check it out, I let the engine cool down first then checked the oil, it was very low. I put some oil and took it again to the same Kia dealership for diagnostics - the engine turned off multiple times on me at traffic lights (when near stop), the dealership took about a week to diagnose it and they finally told us that the cylinders misfired and the pressure in the cylinders were lower than capacity; they said the engine must be replaced and quoted us a used Engine of 114k at $7k replacement fee. Kia must be held responsible for their engines. We did everything in our capacity to ensure the vehicle is maintained as best as we could, my wife took loans from her family to pay for this car, and we are left with a lime.Read more

When they diagnosed the problem they said it had several codes. The following is what the service department did. “Digit-verified cel stored codes p0973 in Tim and in pcm, abs bcm u0418 u0402, u422, alll are stored erased codes, no updates, removed air box to access ground and Tim connector, inspected harness from Tcm to transmission, removed and cleaned ground on trans, reassembled and test drove could not duplicate concern. After more test drives still unable to duplicate concern.” After this I was able to drive home 1500 miles without any problems. Not sure if the problem is fixed or not. I just wanted to report this just in case others are having the same problem and to build a case for a recall if needed.Read more

While performing a left-hand U-turn across three lanes and into the far right-hand 4th turning lane, at less than 15mph my 2013 Ram 1500's power steering failed and jerked the wheel out of my hands back towards the neutral position. ... t the vehicle off the curb and was able to get the vehicle into the parking lot I was originally going to, the power steering seamed to operate breifly as long as the wheel was turned slowly and under speeds less than 10mph, so I limped it home. This however was short lived by the end of the next day I had totally lost all power steering assist and had to fight the wheel to turn at all. This led to having the electronic power steering rack assembly replaced at a local shop adding up to a total of $4943.55 US dollars. After receiving my 2013 Ram 1500 from the shop I began to experience heavy vibrations felt through the steering wheel and pedals. The vibration was caused by the damaged front passenger wheel hub which cost a further $400 plus dollars in parts and labor. The electronic power steering rack assembly had to be turned in for a core charge and is unavailable for inspection but had signs of water intrusion according to the shop. The associated bushings, tie rod ends and wheel hubs were either discarded or turned in for additional charges and are unavailable for inspection. My safety was threatened when the steering gave out mid turn while I was crossing oncoming traffic in the three through traffic lanes. The "service power steering" warning light did illuminate when the power steering failed and the initial impact with the curb occurred then went away after stopping. However, the "service power steering" light returned the next day. The electronic power steering rack was verified to be the cause of the failure at the local service center that performed the repairs.Read more

My 2020 Ram 1500 etorque had a major breakdown. My husband was driving down the highway in a construction zone when he lost power steering, power brakes and then the vehicle totally shut down. He had to steer it to the side of the highway, barely making it. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership who ran diagnostics on it and told us the Mechanical Generator Unit (MGU) needed to be replaced.

We couldn't go indefinitely without our truck so the dealer recommended we trade it in. That was our only option so that was what we were forced to do. We did not want another vehicle!! I love my 2024 Honda CRV which I purchased in May of 2025. But I need to report this for safety reasons. On September 9, 2025 I was driving south on Sare Road near Davis Road in Bloomington IN at about 30 mph when the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), activated and stopped the car in an instant. ... curred at approximately 7:30 pm, and there was no other traffic around me. No oncoming traffic, no other cars in front of me and thankfully no one following closely behind. There was no collision - however if another car had been behind me they likely would have rear-ended my vehicle. There were no people or animals in the vicinity to cause the CMBS to activate. And I did not inadvertently touch the brake prior to the incident. I was just driving along and suddenly thrown forward and restrained by my seatbelt. I could smell what seemed to be the brakes or tires. I was confused as to why the vehicle stopped. I turned the engine off and checked for traffic, then started the car and continued driving home without further incident. Within a day or two, I stopped in at my dealership ( Andy Mohr Honda) and reported the incident. Today (9/19/25) I was having a transmission fluid service and mentioned the CMBS issue to the technician and he chanced the Settings for CMBS from “far” to “near” and said that should solve the issue and to let them know if it occurs again. My concern is that if it happens again it could result in an accident and cause damage and injury. Especially if I am on the interstate driving at 60 mph.Read more

The contact stated that the front driver's side air bag deployed and hit the contact's face, and the contact's eyeglasses caused a bruise on the contact's eyebrow. The contact also sustained a bloody nose and soreness on the forehead. The contact sustained bruises from the shoulder to the elbow after being hit by the driver's side curtain air bag. A police officer called medical personnel, who took the contact's blood pressure, checked the contact's injuries, and confirmed that an ambulance was not needed. The contact had not sought medical assistance. The contact stated that the hood of the vehicle opened and closed upon impact, and one of the coolant hoses was leaking. The trunk of the other vehicle opened and closed upon impact, and the other vehicle sustained minor damage to the fender. The other vehicle was drivable, and the other driver did not sustain injuries. A police report was filed, but the police report information was not available. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The dealer and Pedersen Toyota(4455 S College Ave Fort Collins, CO 80525) were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. However, they refused to repair the problem unless they could “replicate” the malfunction during their testing. Because the issue is intermittent, it does not always occur on demand, leaving me without any repair or resolution despite the safety risk. This policy effectively forces consumers to continue driving unsafe vehicles. I have already experienced several close calls where the vehicle’s hesitation and lack of response nearly caused an accident. The defect is widely reported among other owners of the 2022 Sorento, yet Kia and its dealerships are failing to provide adequate remedies under warranty. I am submitting this complaint to request an investigation into Kia’s handling of this matter. The failure to repair a known transmission defect, despite documented safety risks, places drivers and the public in harm’s way. Hyundai has incorrectly tried to reframe this as an oil-consumption issue and directed me to pay $600 for a combustion chamber cleaning. My issue is not oil consumption — it is a bearing-related failure already covered by warranty. Hyundai’s obligations include a no-cost inspection/diagnosis for connecting rod bearing failure, yet I have been denied that process. Despite repeated written requests, Hyundai continues to attempt phone communication instead of email, even addressing me by the wrong name in correspondence, which suggests reliance on standardized or generic responses. I have exclusively maintained the vehicle at Wright Way Hyundai, following Hyundai’s service schedule. I am resorting to filing this complaint because after weeks of email correspondence, Hyundai’s corporate agent refuses to help and the manager insists on only calling by phone — which I will not answer out of concern they will attempt to mischaracterize or dismiss my complaint verbally. Prior issue with drivers seatbelt occurred with car in 'park' and ignition on, seat belt unexpectedly pulled occupant tight against seat. Seatbelt adjuster on seatbelt anchor point moved quickly up and down several times making whirring noises before abruptly stopping, releasing occupant after 10-15 seconds. As a 100% disabled veteran with severe neck damage this could paralyze me if happens while driving, and heart stopping shock. Vehicle in Brooklyn Service since 11th Sept. Mgr says today there are no faults in the system and no data to be collected. Even with video proof the service center lack resolution, and Mgr wanted me to pick up the car. I insisted they keep for further testing as it may need extended observation to replicate issue. I feel unsafe. My safety was put at risk due to the non-start incident happening late at night in a low lit area in Elizabeth/Newark not a good area potentially stranding me in an unsafe situation. A starting issue and an alarm malfunction, both of which are critical. This is the second safety issue in a brand new car, within 6 weeks of owning the car. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to failure. They first appeared after I unlocked with fob and sat inside. I need to have rear shock replaced. They found that the bracket holder rusted thru . Shock was fine . The Rear frame corrosion and separation, spare tire frame corrosion is really bad. I have had this truck since 2004 . I absolutely love my truck. I am deeply saddened that all the care I took still didn’t prevent all this damage .
