I have received 2 recalls regarding my steering rack. I did have the gear box worm wheel spring replaced but that did not solve the problem my steering was sticking, hard to turn , clunking it would veer off to the right. While driving about 60–65 mph westbound on NY Route 17 near Exit 125, a warning message appeared on the dashboard reading “Restart Engine.” Within seconds the vehicle lost all propulsion, steering assist, and braking power. Pressing the accelerator did nothing and the car began rapidly decelerating in live highway traffic at night. I struggled to steer into the shoulder with great effort be
... cause the steering and brakes had become extremely heavy. Once stopped, the engine would not restart — there was no crank and no response when pressing the start button. The vehicle was later towed to the dealership for inspection. This failure occurred without any prior warning other than the single “Restart Engine” message that flashed moments before the loss of power. There were no check-engine lights, alerts, or performance issues beforehand. Unity Chevrolet Cadillac confirmed that the engine had seized and replaced the entire engine assembly, starter, and battery under warranty. The vehicle remained out of service from August 7 to August 22 2025. This sudden failure created a severe safety hazard — a complete loss of propulsion, steering assist, and braking at highway speed could easily have resulted in a high-speed collision.Read more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle’s collision avoidance automatic braking system is malfunctioning. It engages unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving with normal traffic flow. The system is still installed and fully available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The au
... tomatic braking system activates suddenly and without cause while I am driving at typical speeds (approximately 40–60 mph) with the flow of traffic. This unexpected braking creates a serious risk of rear-end collisions, both endangering me and putting other drivers at risk of crashing into my vehicle from behind. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I have reported the issue to the dealer, but they have been unable to replicate the problem during their inspections. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? No, the vehicle and its braking system have not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, law enforcement, insurance representatives, or any other third parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights, messages, or other indicators were present before the issue occurred. I purchased the vehicle last month, and the problem with the collision avoidance braking system has been present consistently since then.Read more

I took my 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiese to a Chrysler-Dodge-Ram dealership on 9/23/25 for the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) safety recall. I was told a part had to be ordered to complete the recall and gave me a rental vehicle. After a few days I contacted the dealership about my repair. They said the wrong part was ordered and the new one was in route. After about a week, I called the dealership again
... and I was told "the truck won't start and they were working with Stellantis to figure out why." Several more days passed, I called again, they stated that after the new pump was installed and the truck was started it "blew a rod," but they had fixed it, test drove it, and it would be ready for pick up the next day. I picked up the truck on 10/16/25 and drove less than 50 miles (first trip home from the dealership.) While traveling at highway speed on interstate 77 at night, the truck suddenly lost all engine power, a “throttle” warning message appeared, I noticed a strong odor of burnt oil, and I was only able to get from the left passing lane across to the right truck lane, only getting 2 tires on the shoulder (see pic). The truck would not start again, it just made a click-click-click sound. I jumped out of the truck as there was a truck in that lane coming toward me and ran into the woods to escape. I and the truck were nearly struck by traffic. This was a life-threatening situation. Luckily, a Courtesy Patrol saw me and blocked the lane with road flares. Eventually the truck was towed (had to be dragged on to the flatbed). At that time I noticed engine oil was splashed all over the underside of truck. It was towed to the same dealership. This catastrophic failure occurred hours after I was told it was safe to drive. This incident placed my life and the lives of other motorists at extreme risk. A recall intended to improve safety appears to have introduced a new, severe safety hazard. The truck has been at the dealership since 10/17/25 and I have not been updated since.Read more

My headlights went out completely and without warning on a dark highway. No brights or even the orange running lights. Not even the front hazard lights would go on. There was a ditch about a foot to the right. I s

My husband had to drive a hour to come pick me up. I got home 3 hours later than originally planned. I talked to a mechanic who said it was likely a fuse that went out. I asked him why there was no warning and he said the warning for the lights is likely on the same fuse as the lights! How is that helpful?! We weren’t able to find the right fuse late at night in the dark, so we had to leave it on the side of the road about 60 miles from home until we could go to an auto parts store and drive it home in the daylight. It was a very dangerous situation. I could have been killed.Read more

I am writing to formally file a complaint for gross negligence, excessive delays, and repeated mechanical failures regarding my RAM 2020 ProMaster1500 HR; VIN: [XXX] at the authorized dealership Bomnin-Doral in Miami, FL. The vehicle remained at the dealership for 1 year, 4 months, and 18 days due to transmission damage and other mechanical issues. Five days after final delivery, the transmissio
... n failed again. Despite multiple attempts to communicate, no effective response has been received, and the vehicle remains inoperable at my residence. A steering issue also persists: when turning the wheel fully to the left or right, it does not return to its original position and must be manually assisted, posing a serious accident risk, especially in turns under 90° or U-turns. The dealership claims this is “NORMAL,” which we strongly dispute. The transmission is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, and other damaged parts by the GWC (POWERTRAIN PLUS) warranty. These problems have caused significant financial losses to my business, family, and me personally, as well as severe impacts on our health and emotional well-being. Personally, the stress and frustration led me to the Emergency Room at Jackson West Hospital, where I was diagnosed with an ischemic stroke (Right MCA Stroke) and later surgically treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital. To date, no one has contacted us or provided an effective solution, which constitutes gross negligence and a flagrant violation of my consumer rights. On [XXX], while driving my 2025 Ram 1500 Laramie at approximately 60 mph on a dark rural road, the truck suddenly stalled without warning. The engine shut off, but all lights and electrical systems initially remained powered. I shifted into Neutral and attempted to restart while coasting, at which point the truck completely lost electrical power — headlights, dash, ignition button, and interior
... lighting all went dead. I initially thought I might have accidentally cycled the ignition button off, but repeated attempts to restart had no response. As I rolled to a stop, the vehicle automatically shifted itself into Park, causing a sudden and violent stop. Once stationary, the truck restarted normally as if nothing had happened. Prior to this event, there were multiple related issues: – On [XXX], the truck would crank but not start for about 30–40 minutes before finally starting normally. – On [XXX], a check engine light appeared during an hour drive to LAX. After parking and restarting, the light disappeared. – On September 29, 2025, I took the truck to Crown Dodge in Ventura County, CA, where a wireless OBD-II scan found no codes. I was advised to return if the problem persisted. – A few months prior, the truck stalled at low speed when pulling forward from a stop in a parking lot. The [XXX] incident was extremely dangerous, leaving me completely unpowered and invisible to oncoming traffic at night. These repeated, escalating failures suggest a serious intermittent electrical or control system defect that could result in a crash or injury. The dealer has not responded to my attempts to contact them on October 13, 2025. I was able to get ahold of their receptionist but get sent to voicemails when transferred. This is getting ridiculous. Every time my vehicle is washed at the dealership with the high power jets, water gets into the vehicle from the third brake light and blows the bulb. As a disabled vet, it is getting impossible to climb into the bed and replace. This time, I took it to the dealership, which they replaced. They solution? The third brake light unit needs to be sealed, including on all th
... e other Rams including the news one. If Stellantis is aware of this, why is this not a recall? Their next recommendation? Stop getting the truck washed. Is dirty Rams everywhere the advertisement Stellatis wants? The new slogan should be, "buy a Ram, just don't wash it...ever". The third brake light bulb will not blow when the truck is detailed or it a normal to light rain. Between the heavy rains and the dealership's high powered water jets, there is a permanent water stain on my headliner. The dealership warned me that if too much water gets inside, it will damage the RTF (?), which will render the truck useless. This has been an ongoing problem since I have owned the truck, which was purchased in 2015 or 2016. I want to know directly from Stellantis that if I replace the third brake light (again), but with an aftermarket LED unit, will the light continue to leak. If you conduct an online search, you will see how many other Ram owners have the same problem, yet Stellantis does nothing. If Ram's high powered water jets blow the bulbs, why does Ram still use the high powered jets? I am asking that Stellantis replace all the Ram third brake lights with aftermarket LED units and seal those units. Additionally, I need my headliner replaced. Attached is today's receipt of the bulb being replaced along with my stained headliner. A vehicle cannot pass a safety inspection with the third brake light out. You can even see on the dealership's comments, "Do Not Wash Indefinitely".Read more

A few months ago, the battery went dead. I purchased a new battery and it went dead also. I had the mechanic check it and he said that some Honda Odyssey's had that problem (usually 2011). Even if everything is turned off, the battery will die in less than two days if the van is not driven. This has led to the van being inoperable in various locations requiring a locksmith to come open the car
... so the hood can be opened so the the battery can be recharged. The mechanic spent a few hours and was able to pinpoint the "faulty" fuse(Driver's side, #7, 7.5A, "backup"), but said that there were 13 different subsystems associated with that fuse and that it would take many hours to isolate and test each individual subsystem which would cost many thousands of dollars--more than the car is considered to be worth. So he recommended that I just either drive it every day or pull the fuse at night. In addition to the battery going dead, one of the problems, is that I don't feel safe to lock the car because I know I won't be able to unlock it if the battery dies.Read more

Chevy had done an update for the Propulsion Power being reduced. In 2024, I had to do another update when the check engine light came on. After that the electric battery power decreased, I am only getting 17 miles per charge. August 2025, the check engine light came on again. I had it check and no codes came up. While driving home on the freeway, the Propulsion Power being reduced warning came up.
... I had to pull off the freeway. Once I turned my vehicle off, I was unable to drive my car. There was not any acceleration. I had to have my car towed 50 miles home. A mechanic was able to repair it at that time. On 10/7/2025 the check engine light came on again and once again no codes appeared, on 10/14/25 the Propulsion Power being reduced warning came on again. I was able to get home safely, but I got off the freeway and took side streets home. At this time, the vehicle will not accelerate.Read more

I turned into a restaurant’s parking lot, found a spot and slowly drove into the lot, I eased off the gas pedal and gently applying the brake as the lot has a slight downward slope. When I reach the chunk (the parking block), I added more force to the brake, but I felt the brake pedal just sank, and the car lurched ahead, jumped over the chunk, and stopped at the curb which startled me. After I
... recovered, I put the car in reverse to return it to the right position (back up from the overrun chunk), everything seemed back to normal condition after that. Luckily, all occupants were unhurt, airbag was not deployed. I inspected the car after parking properly, there didn’t seem any visible damage to the vehicle, although I couldn’t see the chassis system which I believed must had a few scratches on the underside. The technician failed to update/recalibrate the on-board warning system since last time I had the serviced at dealer, mainly for oil change on 3/14/2025. So, every time I turned on the engine, there is a warning message displayed as: "Maintenance Required Visit Your Dealer". This happened since the day after oil change. I thought it was the carelessness or absent- mindedness of the technician, so, I just ignored it. But don't know that has anything to do with this incident.Read more
