The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 50 MPH on the way to the residence, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the failure was due to the powertrain control module. The contact stated that the key had seized in the ignition, and the vehicle was left overnig

The contact later became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V674000 (Power Train). The contact had no other means of transportation and was unaware of the recall when the vehicle was purchased. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by the local dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The problem is with the Infotainment system. It was replaced once under warranty but is again malfunctioning. The infotainment system controls some critical features of the vehicle. One instance is when trying to calibrate tpms after a low condition, it is impossible to get control of the display as it makes "Ghost" selections or is hung up. Resets both hard and soft do not work. Removing the nega
... tive battery cable doesn't work. Note that research shows many Accords and other models are effected. It also seems the manufacturer is aware of the situation and doing nothing to correct it. This is a safety issue. If it were just the radio effected, I really would care. But because the cars systems rely on the infotainment systems, its a concern. Symptoms are : Freezing & Crashing: The screen becomes unresponsive or shuts down unexpectedly. Phantom Touches: The screen registers touches that aren't happening, selecting things randomly on its own. Audio/Radio Malfunctions: Stations changing or Bluetooth disconnecting. System Restarts: The unit turns off and on by itself, even after the car is off.Read more

I was pulling into a parking spot outside of a Costco and suddenly the car began to accelerate uncontrollably, and I couldn't stop the car. It ended up hitting the car in front of me, pushing it out of the spot and then hit the car next to us. Fortunately, there was no one in any of the cars hit but the entire experience was completely terrifying, and someone could have been seriously injured.
... The police were called and there was a police report filed. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance company since it just occurred yesterday and the police said that the report wouldn't be ready for 3-5 business days. While driving on the interstate in light snow and mostly clear and semi dry roads, ice accumulates on both the head lights and the foglights to a degree that they no longer project enough light to see far enough ahead at even moderate speeds. When I pulled over to inspect them, the surface was coated with a mix of ice and dirt rendering them useless. Ambient temperatures were between 24 and 30 d
... egrees. It seems that the LED lights lack enough heat to protect from ice accumulation and a heat element of some type should have been included given the placement of the lights being somewhat recessed and that allows for accumulation. Obviously in pre-dawn darkness this produced an unsafe operation of a vehicle at highway speeds due to not being able to see the road far enough in advance. As far as I know it has not been addressed or noticed by Ford since there is no information about this in their manual. I have seen aftermarket products that heat the light surface and prevent the accumulation of ice - Ford should retrofit something to prevent the accumulation of ice on light surfaces.Read more

I purchased this vehicle used in August 2025 from the estate of a friend's relative. The records show it was meticulously maintained and no recall notices have been unaddressed. The prior owner used it infrequently and it still has just under 90k miles. There were no major engine issues when my local repair shop (over 12 years and 3 vehicles) inspected all systems, and the vehicle passed for PA st
... ate inspection and emissions. However, driving more, I noticed that the brakes would intermittently become "mushy" or "hard" and overall less responsive. I needed to use a lot of force to fully stop over a longer distance. There was also a hissing noise while braking and sometimes the cabin air fan would blast on suddenly. Then, while stopped at a red light and applying the brakes, the engine shut off and check engine light came on. My mechanic detected O2 sensor codes P2195/P2197 indicating "stuck lean." But nothing about the brake booster, and so we cleaned it up a bit and tried to get more of an understanding of the issue. Now I know that the compromised engine vacuum from the booster air leak is impacting the fuel/air balance. Extremely unsafe. This has now happened MANY times while I try to get a good diagnosis and help. It's scary, and makes city driving very challenging. On multiple occasions I feared I would hit other vehicles or would have to "creep" at a light to alleviate the airflow issues from braking. If I have to be at a light for more than a moment, I will put the car in park and foot off the brake. I'd rather risk being honked at or hit, than have the engine dying on me in traffic. When I was able to get to a dealership, I was informed that it was the brake booster. The first thing I found when looking up that part for the 2013 Ford Edge was the recall. The dealership says my VIN was not covered, but it seems more than coincidence that this is the exact problem, now confirmed by the dealership. The part is faulty, and should be replaced by OEM.Read more

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the rims and the seal on the rims were defective, causing the tires to deflate. The dealer informed the contact that several other Ford vehicles of the same model were experiencing the rim failure. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied assistance due to the age of the vehicle; however, the dealer advised the contact that the failure was a factory defect and was not related to the age of the vehicle. While driving at highway speeds (approx. 65 MPH), the vehicle suffered a sudden and catastrophic loss of motive power. The "Hybrid System Malfunction" warning illuminated, followed immediately by a "Check Engine" light. The vehicle entered a fail-safe mode, then completely shut down. The steering wheel locked, making it extremely difficult to maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder in a dark, remote
... area with freezing temperatures. This presented an immediate life-safety risk to all occupants. Following the incident, the vehicle was presented to two separate authorized Toyota dealerships in the US for emergency assistance. Both failed to provide the standard of care required for a high-voltage safety failure. The first dealer refused to perform even a basic safety inspection or intake the vehicle, stating they had no hybrid technicians on weekends. They turned the vehicle away without safety warnings, forcing the operation of a chemically failing vehicle on public roads. The second dealer attempted to charge a diagnostic fee. However, when questioned, they admitted they also did not have a hybrid-certified technician on site. They attempted to bill for a diagnostic service they knowingly could not perform. This fraudulent charge was only rescinded after it was challenged. They subsequently refused further assistance, leaving the occupants stranded. The vehicle was eventually towed to a third dealer (in Canada) where it was diagnosed with severe corrosion of the High-Voltage Floor Under Wire Harness (MGR Cable), a known defect. The dealer confirmed the rear motor cable was corroded and required replacement. The repair involved replacing the cable and installing a "splash guard" cap. No prior warning signs occurred before the sudden highway shutdown. This failure is a result of the manufacturer's failure to adequately seal high-voltage components against corrosion and the dealer network's gross negligence in refusing emergency safety support.Read more

August 30th 2024 the pickup was just turning to roughly 30,000 miles and started a knocking sound. The GM dealership tore it apart and fixed what I believe they said was a bent rod. I cycled through two oil changes and decided to pull an oil sample. I sent oil sample off for analysis. The oil analysis came back urgent with very high levels of copper and lead showing in the testing. I then called
... the GM dealer and they had me bring it in. They did not send off any oil sample because when they pulled the filter, they could already see metal in the new oil. They had me call GM customer service because it is not part of the current recall. I contacted GM customer service on October 27, 2025. They gave me a case number 80392504. I was to bring it back to the dealership which I did. Again dealership called said metal was found again but GM will not do anything with it because it’s not under recall. They also told me that GM told them it is OK to have metal in the oil. I said well if it is OK to have metal in the oil I want to know what the test results show. Then I said, I want to know where the maximum allowance is. They did not know that. I said so it is an infinite amount according to them because there is no standard to check against. I said I’m not taking this in for a recall. I am bringing it in because I had my own diagnostic testing done. It failed. I drive back-and-forth to North Dakota and I told them this is very unsafe if that motor goes out and it’s -30 or -45 and my little boys in the back the heater is not going to work. That is very unsafe and deadly. When you have extreme temperatures like that, we cannot just be running around. Tell the engine blows up or locks up. I told them this needs addressed you don’t pay $82,000 for a vehicle and not get any support or care. I said if something happens to my boy, they will wish that they put a new motor in there or fixed it. They are playing God. They need their hand, slapped and do the right thing. Thank youRead more

Then it stopped and we drove on because there was the car behind us approaching quickly. I believe he swerved and went around us but I cannot be sure what he did. I just know he did not hit us, thank God! Prior to going to the Dealer, I notified the Dealer and MBUSA Customer Service on a 12 minute call of the problem. MBUSA said they would notify the Dealer and get back to me to investigate. When I arrived at the dealer the NEW service person and I gave him my outline in writing of the event. I had emailed it to them the day before. He said that I would be charged $255.00 to diagnose MY problem even though my car is under Warranty and purchased from THIS Dealer. They had not been notified as MBUSA said they would do. I asked to speak to the Service Manager, Oscar who I have known for 20+ years, and he apologized for their error. I am writing to respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) consider adopting a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requiring vehicles to provide a clear driver alert when headlights and tail lamps are not illuminated in low-light conditions. Although many vehicles offer automatic headlights, these systems can be disabled without the driver’s knowledge
... when the physical headlight switch is moved from “AUTO” to “OFF.” This may occur during routine servicing, inspections, car washes, or detailing, and the vehicle provides no notification that the automatic lighting has been disabled. As a result, even conscientious drivers can unknowingly operate a vehicle without proper illumination at night. A recent incident involving my daughter illustrates this concern. She always keeps her headlights set to “AUTO,” and she is aware of the importance of nighttime visibility. However, after a state vehicle inspection, the inspector had manually turned her headlights to the OFF position. She later drove at night with the expectation that her automatic lighting system was functioning and subsequently received a warning ticket from law enforcement for not having her headlights on. The vehicle provided no warning whatsoever that the headlights and tail lamps were not active. Additionally, modern dashboard lighting systems automatically illuminate when ambient lighting decreases and may dim in the evening, which strongly implies to the driver that the vehicle’s exterior lighting is active. At the same time, daytime running lights illuminate the front of the vehicle, while rear lights remain off. From the driver’s perspective, the road ahead appears lit, and the interior displays reinforce the assumption that lighting is fully engaged. This creates a false sense of proper lighting and is misleading from a human-factors standpoint.Read more

Stereo/speaker system has a very loud static noise every time I drive the car. It happens the most when the car has been sitting in the sun. The static sound is so unbearable while I’m driving. I have to pull over to shut the car off. I turn the audio button off on the stereo but the speakers still have the loud static noise.
