Am having issues with my 22 Ram 1500 limited 4x4 with the 5.7 HEMI MDS. there are issues with this engine since 2009. The MDS lifters and cam shaft do not get enough oil. They already replaced the cam shaft and oil pan pickup. Now they have my truck for over 3 weeks to replace the engine. The only problem is that they are replacing it with the same one and hoping again that nothing goes wrong. Ca
... lled Ram and was basically told too bad. And i have another vehicle with the same engine and it's starting to do the same thing my engine was doing. Asked them to use non MDS so it won't happed again but was basically told too bad. Do not think this is fair since they have known about this problem since 09. If I would have known this,I would have not purchased the 2 vehicles. I think the resolution should be that they install non MDS parts now and when it happens to my 23 JEEP WAGONEER. This has escalated beyond an inconvenience and has become a serious and ongoing safety concern for both myself and my family. It is unacceptable that a federally recognized safety recall of this magnitude has remained unresolved for such an extended period without an available repair solution. As the situation currently stands, I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle. Furthermore, I do not believe it is reasonable or responsible to expect owners to sell or trade vehicles burdened with an unresolved safety defect of this nature.Read more

On [XXX] at approximately [XXX], my 2022 RAM 1500 (VIN [XXX] ), equipped with the 5.7L V8 Hemi eTorque mild-hybrid system and currently at 45,000 miles, experienced a sudden engine shutdown and complete loss of throttle response while traveling approximately 25 mph on [XXX] , heading toward Colonia in active evening traffic. The accelerator pedal became unresponsive, the vehicle began coasting, an
... d within seconds the truck shifted itself into PARK and engaged the parking brake automatically. I had to release the parking brake to move the vehicle off the road. After restarting, which required noticeably more cranking than normal, and disabling the auto-brake feature, I attempted to drive again. Within roughly 15 seconds the throttle was sluggish, the rear wheels chirped as the truck jerked and bucked, and the engine died a second time, again shifting into PARK and engaging the parking brake. The safety risk was significant: a sudden, uncommanded loss of motive power on a public road, followed by automatic PARK engagement and parking brake activation in active traffic, created a high risk of a rear-end collision and left me with no throttle control to safely position the vehicle. The only warning indication was a red battery icon that illuminated on the dashboard during the stall events themselves. There were no warning lights, messages, or other symptoms in the days or weeks leading up to the failure. I did experience a single similar stall some time ago during extremely cold weather, but yesterday was a warm day, so a cold-temperature correlation does not appear to apply here. The vehicle has not yet been inspected or the problem reproduced by a dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. COMPONENT FAILED: Left transmission mount bracket and its fasteners on a 2017 RAM ProMaster with 3.6L V6 Pentastar (sales code ERB) and 62TE 6-speed automatic (sales code DG2). At least one bracket-to-transaxle bolt sheared. The bracket separated from the transmission, the powertrain dropped on the driver side, the left front CV axle pulled out of the transaxle, and transmission fluid loss occurre
... d. The transmission case casting also appears cracked at the bracket mounting boss. All failed components are preserved and available for inspection. SAFETY RISK: Failure occurred during LOW-SPEED MANEUVERING. Had it occurred at highway speed, the dropped powertrain and separated front drive axle could have caused loss of vehicle control, sudden disabling of the vehicle in traffic, and roadway debris from dragging components. Industry-published cases describe identical failures at 40+ mph (Certified Transmission, May 2019). Multiple owner reports of the same failure exist for 2015-2021 ProMasters. CONFIRMED BY: Failure confirmed by visual inspection at an independent service facility. The failure mode matches FCA Service Bulletin 23-022-19 (8/27/2019), which warns the bracket fasteners are torque-to-yield, single-stage, one-time use, and that reuse can lead to bracket bolt failure. The TSB is classified Information Only — no recall has been issued. INSPECTED BY: Inspected by the owner and an independent repair technician. Not yet inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance. The vehicle had recent service in the transmission area; whether the one-time-use fasteners specified by the TSB were replaced during that service is under investigation. WARNING SIGNS: None. No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms preceded the failure. Given the documented failure mode, manufacturer service bulletin, and multiple owner reports of identical failures across model years, a formal investigation into a potential safety recall is requested.Read more

The fire under the car went out on its own. The very shape of the hole (perfectly round) in my muffler
... indicates an explosion that occurred simultaneously. Also, the fused edges of the round hole indicate a high temperature during this explosion and fire. I disagree that this fair damage [XXX] my Ram 2021 3.0 ecodiesel [XXX] is considered from Progressive insurance as simple "wear and tear." estimate only $1669,78. Garber Collision Pontiac repaired the Ram 2021 by 04.24.2026 and replaced the damaged wiring harness ($1161 self-pay) as required by Progressive. After this repair, the Ram 2021 was unable to move and was delivered to the Tucson Ram dealer on 05/04/2026. The dealer did not indicate the root cause of the damage in the estimate. The car was also returned to me by the dealer. When I asked the dealer on 05.12.2026 to indicate the root cause of the damage, the dealer replied that he was not aware of such a similar damage and indicated that the warranty on the car has expired and there are no open recalls. But The dealer's initial assessment from 05.13.2026 (estimates $9325.25) indicates the fire was caused by a failure of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler, which is a known issue (similar to recall VB1/19V-757) where the cooler cracks, leaks coolant, and causes a fire in the intake manifold. This is a component failure resulting in an explosion/fire, not typical wear. I need a diagnostic report that specifically mentions the EGR cooler failure as the source of the fire. Steering is loose and unresponsive at times. Just bought the 2013 truck, used, from a dealer. Dealer stated no issues, but discovered while driving it home on the highway. Feels very unsafe and by researching other complaints, with same make and model, it appears this is a serious issue replicated across many different owners, with similar make/model/year.
