Received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to repair the recall is not available. The manufacturer has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Because the vehicle currently has this recall, the State of CA will not allow the vehicle to be registered and is now out of operation. In addition, this vehicle is used fo
... r business and has resulted in several weeks being out of operation. ABS and traction control warning lights have illuminated while driving over uneven pavement. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and I was informed the manufacturer was not providing parts for the RAM 5500 series. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and has confirmed that parts are NOT available for the RAM 5500 series.Read more

The vehicle developed loud engine knocking and abnormal noise consistent with known Hyundai engine defects. The vehicle is unsafe to operate and has been retained at an authorized Hyundai dealership since October 25, 2025. Hyundai vehicles with similar engine failures have been documented to catch fire, including while parked. Despite the known defect pattern, the manufacturer is refusing warrant

ON 12/24/2025 I found a foot long stress crack on the passenger side of the windshield. I was a National Glass Association Technician for 10 years I can tell the difference between a stress crack and an impact crack. The high-voltage battery on my 2022 Nissan Leaf is subject to Recall 25V655. The recall notice states that the battery cells can develop excessive lithium deposits, which increases electrical resistance and can cause rapid battery heating during Level 3 fast charging. Nissan instructs owners not to use Level 3 charging at all until a “remedy” is available. The issue is that the remedy describ
... ed by Nissan is not an actual repair of the battery defect. Nissan states it will install software that monitors for “state-of-charge fluctuation” and, if detected, will prevent the vehicle from restarting or recharging in order to avoid a thermal incident. This means the defect inside the battery cells is still present, and the car may disable itself if the defect begins to appear. The recall materials also state there is no warning before overheating occurs. This creates multiple safety concerns: • The underlying battery defect remains uncorrected. • The vehicle can become immobilized (unable to restart or recharge) if the software detects the condition. • Loss of Level 3 charging capability affects the ability to travel safely or plan charging when needed. • A battery fire risk exists during Level 3 charging if the defect is not detected in time. Nissan’s documents state that the software is meant only to prevent the “progression” of a thermal incident, not to repair the defective battery. I am concerned that my vehicle contains a known hazardous defect that has not been physically repaired and that the software-only response is inadequate to ensure safety. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA is aware that the remedy being offered does not address the internal battery defect itself and may leave owners exposed to continued safety and reliability risks.Read more

I have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra with about 155k miles. It has been consuming oil excessively and has developed serious drivability issues. If I try to accelerate even slightly harder than normal—especially above 2,000 RPM—it makes a metallic, chain-type rattling noise, loses power, and produces heavy smoke from the exhaust. The smoke sometimes continues even after shutting the engine off and res
... tarting. Because of this, I’ve been avoiding rapid acceleration and slowly working up to highway speeds. The car also periodically shakes at idle, idles higher than normal at times, and the RPMs will occasionally rise on their own. In the past it has stalled randomly, and sometimes it feels like the transmission is “stuck” and won’t shift properly. Despite all this, there are currently no check-engine codes. This is terrible and clearly there’s been lawsuits and other recalls regarding the same issue and same engine but nothing for mine? I am out of warranty and had no clue the amount of issues the car was going to have until last year and I’m screwed now, insurance doesn’t cover issues with the engine or transmission. Neither will Hyundai?! Last year Hyundai performed a CVVT repair that cost about $6,000, which temporarily improved things, but the symptoms returned shortly afterward. When I brought it back, they said they couldn’t recreate the issue. The car is now out of warranty. Separately, the car was stolen two months ago due to the immobilization fault and TIk TOKs videos and the police said it has been hundreds of these Elantras stolen and destroyd and the ignition and wiper control switch/harness were damaged, which still hasn’t been repaired.Read more

The vehicle has experienced repeated and ongoing electrical system failures, including chronic battery drain that causes the vehicle to fail to start, erratic HVAC operation where controls do not function as intended, and persistent water intrusion into the doors and interior areas. The HVAC malfunction has resulted in the inability to properly defrost or defog the windshield while driving, signif
... icantly impairing visibility and creating an immediate safety hazard. These issues appear consistent with failure or corrosion of the Smart Junction Box (SJB) or related electrical control components. Replacement Smart Junction Boxes are unavailable through both Ford and aftermarket sources, preventing proper repair of the defect. The electrical instability and water intrusion present a risk of sudden loss of vehicle operability, impaired visibility, and unpredictable electrical behavior while the vehicle is in motion, creating a safety risk to the driver, passengers, and others on the road. The issues are recurring and reproducible.Read more

The factory-installed roof rails on my 2019 Nissan Rogue are severely corroding and structurally deteriorating. The metal is visibly oxidizing, flaking, and breaking apart. Portions of the roof rail appear to be separating and losing structural integrity. This corrosion is occurring under normal use and typical Midwest weather exposure, with no misuse, accidents, or modifications. The vehicle has
... not been exposed to extreme environments or chemicals that would reasonably cause this level of degradation. Safety Concern: The roof rails are a structural exterior component designed to secure roof racks and cargo. Due to the corrosion and material failure, there is a significant safety risk that: Roof-mounted cargo or crossbars could detach while driving Metal fragments could break off and become road debris The failure could occur at highway speeds, posing a danger to other vehicles and pedestrians This issue represents a potential design, material, or manufacturing defect rather than normal wear. Corrosion of this severity should not occur on a relatively modern vehicle. I am concerned this may affect other Nissan Rogue vehicles of similar model years and warrants investigation. Photos documenting the corrosion and deterioration are attached. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue for potential safety defects related to roof rail corrosion and structural failure on the 2019 Nissan Rogue. I am writing to request urgent assistance regarding a serious safety and service issue with my 2015 Dodge Ram, which has only 45,000 original miles. I recently took the vehicle to an authorized Dodge dealership after multiple dashboard alerts appeared, including: ABS Light On, Brake Light On, “Service Trailer Light,” “Service Antilock Brake System”, Service Electronic Braking”, “Servi
... ce Trailer Brake System” The dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty ABS Module. I was informed that the part would cost approximately $1,400, plus the cost of ordering the part, and that the part may take up to four (4) years or more to arrive—if it ever becomes available at all. I contacted multiple Dodge dealerships and received the same response regarding the extreme delay and unavailability of the ABS Module. I was also told that the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition. This is especially concerning, as this is my only vehicle, and I cannot use it due to the safety risks. Despite this, Dodge customer service informed me that no assistance can be provided unless I first pay for and order the part, even though the part may not arrive for years. Additionally, the dealership is unwilling to buy back the vehicle at a reasonable price due to the unresolved ABS issue, leaving me without a safe, drivable vehicle and without support or alternatives. I have confirmed that there is no recall listed for this issue, yet the ABS Module is a critical safety component, and the lack of part availability for years is unacceptable for a loyal customer who has maintained the vehicle properly and driven it minimally. I am respectfully requesting that Dodge Corporate provide A clear explanation for the extreme parts delay, A prompt solution—such as expedited part sourcing, coverage or assistance with repairs, or a reasonable buyback/exchange option, Guidance on how Dodge intends to support customers facing major safety issues caused by unavailable parts.Read more
