My vehicle is equipped with an automatic engine stop/start feature that shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped, as well as an eTorque system intended to assist with initial acceleration. While stopped at an intersection with a slight downhill grade (foot fully depressing the brake pedal), the auto stop/start feature engaged and the engine shut off. When I released the brake to make a ri
... ght turn, neither the engine nor the eTorque system reengaged. As a result, the vehicle rolled forward under its own momentum into oncoming traffic. I immediately reapplied the brake to stop the vehicle. At that point, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted itself into Park, even though the engine never restarted. I then pressed the ignition button to turn the vehicle off and back on in order to restart the engine. After restarting, I was able to shift into Drive and move into the traffic lane just in time to avoid a collision. A crash was avoided only because oncoming vehicles were able to change lanes to avoid striking my vehicle. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had more than one-third of a tank of fuel, fewer than 33,000 miles, and has been serviced exclusively at the dealership. This incident occurred at the intersection of Riverbend Road and Park Road in Charlotte, North Carolina.Read more

Def pump failed twice with this vehicle and with that it does not allow the vehicle to run any faster than 5 mph after the countdown ends. Unknown how the exhaust being plugged and service was done to clean the exhaust ended up having the fuel pump and turbo charger needing replaced. Not sure if they went hand in hand and one causing the other. So far the vehicle only has almost 78,000 miles on
... it. Change oil and fuel filters at the vehicles scheduled computer system reports on the vehicle. I was having issues from service center having trouble resetting the exhaust system, which they said the system was not sealing properly. Took them a couple of days to get part from dealership to get it to seal and reprocessed the test which they said passed exhaust reset. That would explain the poor fuel rating of only getting 9 miles per gallon. If there was a complete fuel pump failure, not sure if that would compare to this being a safety issue. Not sure how engine would react, due to it completely failing or if the turbo would cause the vehicle to be unsafe. The vehicle is currently at dealership and only 1 out of the 3 are even available to fix this problem. Def pump is available, but unknown when the others will arrive. Service shop said it could be 3 weeks or 8 months for parts to come in. Due to being a back ordered item. Spent $70k for this vehicle, just to have it spend over 2 months in the shop. I do my own oil and fuel filter changes, due to it being faster and cheaper than any dealer or shop.Read more

System involved: The vehicle experienced a sudden electronic/network failure consistent with loss of ECU/BCM/CAN bus communication. The instrument cluster, throttle control, and HVAC system became inoperative simultaneously. • Safety risk: While driving, the vehicle abruptly lost throttle response and critical driver information with no warning, followed by an uncommanded engine shutdown after c
... oming to a stop. This created a serious risk of collision due to loss of propulsion, inability to react to traffic conditions, and lack of situational awareness. • Confirmation of issue: The vehicle was evaluated by an dodge service center, which identified an ECU software mismatch and performed a system update. The failure has not been intentionally reproduced due to safety concerns, but the incident is documented. • Inspections conducted: The vehicle has been inspected by an dodge service center. It has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, as no accident occurred. • Warnings or prior symptoms: No warning lights, messages, or abnormal behavior were present prior to the failure. The malfunction occurred suddenly and without advance notice.Read more

The vehicle is subject to an open federal safety recall involving a fuel injector that may crack and leak fuel onto the top of the engine. According to NHTSA, liquid fuel or fuel vapor may accumulate near hot engine or exhaust components, creating a risk of an under-hood fire and injury. I purchased this vehicle after the recall had already been issued. The recall was not disclosed to me at the t
... ime of sale, and the vehicle was presented for service multiple times after purchase without any disclosure of the recall or safety warnings. When I contacted an authorized dealer to ask whether there were any open recalls, I was initially told there were none. After I specifically referenced the recall, I was told that parts were not available and that no repair had been completed. The safety risk is that the vehicle may leak fuel near hot components without warning, creating a fire hazard while driving or after the engine is shut off. I have not been provided interim safety guidance or a timeline for repair. NHTSA records currently show the recall remains open, unrepaired, and without an available remedy.Read more

I am reporting a suspected safety defect involving the Motor Generator Unit (MGU) used in the eTorque system on my Ram 1500. The vehicle experienced an MGU failure that resulted in abnormal electrical behavior, warning messages, and impaired drivability. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ram dealership, which confirmed the MGU has failed and requires replacement. The MGU is currently on
... national backorder with no estimated availability date. As a result, the vehicle is inoperable or unsafe to operate and cannot be repaired in a reasonable timeframe. Why this is a safety concern: The MGU is critical to the vehicle’s starting, charging, and powertrain functions. Failure of this component presents safety risks including loss of propulsion, potential stalling or failure to restart, electrical system instability, and vehicle immobilization in traffic or unsafe locations. The extended inability to obtain replacement MGUs significantly increases these risks. Additional information: Based on dealer communications and publicly available owner reports, similar MGU failures and extended backorders appear to affect multiple Ram 1500 eTorque vehicles, indicating this may not be an isolated incident. Dealer/manufacturer actions: The dealer confirmed the failure and ordered the replacement MGU. No repair timeline or permanent remedy has been provided. Request: I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether MGU failures in Ram 1500 eTorque vehicles constitute a safety-related defect requiring investigation and potential recall action.Read more

... ering wheel. Luckily nobody was behind me and there were no injuries. Why this isn't a full recall as it is INCREDIBLY dangerous is beyond me. I don't think it's right that this wasn't covered for ALL vehicles with these problems no matter what time or number of miles. I am looking for compensation for the replaced leadframe because Ford KNEW about the problem but chose not to issue a full recall, even though they called it a recall. This put many people in such dangerous situations and my truck still shifts hard to this day. Why is Ford not helping me just because I was just over 150,000 miles.Read more

2020 HYUNDAI Tucson Engine blown @ 89,307 miles and 1,265 miles after oil change due to missing oil plug. Daughter drives about 5 miles per day for college and groceries. The day before Thanksgiving 2025, her 2020 HYUNDAI Tucson died about 48 miles down the Highway without warning, no prior warning lights or sounds before shutting down. I had the car towed to the local HYUNDAI dealer in the to
... wn where her college is, where they told us the engine was totaled due to a lack of oil and a missing oil plug. I discussed with the HYUNDAI service advisor about having an extended warranty; however, they would not work with me or the company I had the extended warranty with, mentioning they would not cover the engine failure due to the oil plug being missing. I asked the service advisor in a separate conversation whether an oil pan drain plug that was not properly torqued during an oil change could remain in place for some time—particularly during short, low-speed driving—and then gradually work loose over additional miles. The service advisor mentioned that in situations like my daughter’s, where only about 1,265 miles were driven after the oil change (mostly short trips), it would be within reason for an improperly installed drain plug to stay in place until a longer highway drive with higher RPMs, at which point it could back out completely and result in a sudden oil loss and engine shutdown. The service advisor also mentioned that this is something they had seen before and is not unheard of on these vehicles.Read more

After engine blows due to recall and engine not running, it is impossible to shift the electronic transmission into neutral mode for towing. This happened to me in November of 2025 and I was recently told that I should report the issue. Neither the tow truck operator nor myself were able to get the vehicle into neutral without the engine running. I could have easily been stuck in the middle of t

I purchased a Yukon Denali 6.2L in March of 2022 brand new from Bob Johnsons in Rochester NY. On [XXX] at 12,577 miles the engine went through a catastrophic failure, while driving, the vehicle began to make very loud noises. The vehicle was taken to Bob Johnsons GMC 4389 West Ridge Road Rochester, NY 14626. The repair notes #3 main bearing thrust portion had come apart. The vehicle was out of ser
... vice from 4/3/2023 to 4/19/2023 for engine replacement. On [XXX] at 50,244 miles on the vehicle, I was driving down a busy highway during holiday traffic and the vehicle went into neutral and would not start, we immediately turned the flashing lights on, unrolled the windows and began to show distress to ensure we were not hit by passing cars. We made it to safety and called Onstar for assistance, on this occurrence due to the vehicle not starting we were unable to get the vehicle back in to the neutral position to be able to roll the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to Bob Johnsons GMC due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the vehicle was brought in 11/28/2025, and deemed to need another engine replacement. On November 28th I called to file a claim with General Motors and was called back by Stephanie on November 29th and was told they would get back to me if they had any options as now this is the 3rd engine replacement. On December 3rd, a new woman called also named Stephanie and advised me they were still undergoing options, as I requested a Buy Back with Trade Assistance. On December 9th, my final call from General Motors advisor Stephanie, I was told I do not qualify for a buy back because I placed too many miles on the vehicle between engine failures. The vehicle was out of service from 11/26/26-12/29/26 for engine replacement. On [XXX] 2 weeks and 4 days after the vehicle going back into service, the engine failed again, only driving approximately 245 miles. I am currently waiting on the 4th engine replacement with no updates. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6Read more
