Reporting multiple safety-related defects on my 2024 Mazda CX-90. Steering system: At approximately 5,000 miles, the vehicle developed abnormal steering behavior, including inconsistent steering response and abnormal feel during normal driving and turning. The condition affected my ability to steer the vehicle predictably and raised safety concerns, particularly during low-speed turns, parking ma
... neuvers, and city driving. The issue was confirmed by the dealer and required replacement of the steering rack, a major steering component. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. Hybrid system: At approximately 22,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a hybrid system malfunction that required the vehicle to be taken out of service for an extended period. The malfunction affected drivability and reliability and required dealer diagnosis and repair. The vehicle was inspected and repaired by an authorized Mazda dealer. Braking system: The vehicle has experienced ongoing abnormal brake squeaking during normal driving and low-speed braking. While braking function remains present, the abnormal noise raises concerns about brake system integrity, wear, and long-term braking performance. Electrical / infotainment system: The infotainment system intermittently shuts off or resets while driving without warning. When this occurs, the display goes blank and then restarts. This results in loss of access to navigation, rear camera display, vehicle settings, and driver-assistance information, creating driver distraction and a potential safety risk. These issues occurred on a relatively new vehicle and involve critical systems including steering, drivetrain/hybrid, brakes, and vehicle electronics. The combination of defects raises concerns about vehicle safety, reliability, and loss of driver confidence. Warning messages were present for the hybrid malfunction; other issues occurred without warning. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by authorized Mazda dealRead more

The high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) in the vehicle’s diesel fuel system failed. This component is subject to NHTSA Safety Recall 22V-767 (FCA Recall Z96). The HPFP has failed more than once, including after recall replacement, and the vehicle is currently in dealer custody, making the component available for inspection upon request. The HPFP failure caused the vehicle to stall and become inopera
... ble, resulting in an unexpected loss of motive power. This created a safety risk by leaving the vehicle disabled and unable to be safely driven. The recall itself identifies HPFP failure as a condition that can lead to engine stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. The repeat failure after recall repair further increased safety risk. The failure was confirmed by an authorized Ram dealership (Gene’s CDJR of Fairbanks). The dealer documented HPFP failure and fuel system contamination, performed the recall repair, and later confirmed repeat fuel system issues. Most recently, the replacement HPFP failed again during an extended test drive performed by the dealer, confirming recurrence of the defect. The vehicle has been repeatedly inspected by an authorized Ram dealership, including: Recall repair inspection and replacement of the HPFP and related fuel system components, Multiple follow-up inspections after continued symptoms, Diagnostic inspections following check-engine lights, noise, fumes, and loss of drivability. No police or insurance inspections were performed, as this was a mechanical failure handled directly by the dealer under a safety recall. I am filing a complaint regarding Ford Safety Recall 23S65 and the way Ford Motor Company have handled my vehicle over the past seven months. My truck has been held at the dealership since July 2025, and the recall repair has still not been completed. Despite this extremely long delay, Ford has not issued a stop‑drive order, grounding order, or any owner notification stating that the vehicle is
... unsafe to operate. The recall bulletin states the half‑shaft remains retained even if the bolt fails, yet the dealership refuses to release my vehicle, citing “liability.” Ford Customer Service has been unable to provide any documentation supporting the dealer’s refusal. Ford updated the dealer‑facing recall bulletin to require replacement of both half‑shafts if one side fails inspection. However, Ford never sent owners an updated recall notice explaining this change, never informed owners that the vehicle must remain at the dealership, and never issued any communication indicating increased safety risk. I, as the owner, received no updated recall letter at all. My family and I have repeatedly asked the dealership and my Ford case representative to replace the broken side and release the truck until parts arrive for the other side. We were told this was “not allowed,” but neither Ford nor the dealer can provide written documentation requiring the vehicle to be held. My case representative has been extremely difficult to reach and has not provided clear or consistent information. This situation has left me without my vehicle for over seven months, with no timeline, no communication, and no justification for the vehicle being held. This appears to violate the intent of federal recall law, which requires timely repairs and prohibits withholding a vehicle without a stop‑drive order. I am requesting NHTSA review Ford’s handling of Recall 23S65, the excessive repair delays, and the lack of owner notification regarding updated repair requirements.Read more

For some time, I was noticing that my 2020 Kia Telluride was consuming excessive amounts of motor oil - at least one quart per 1000 miles. I have had my car serviced regularly by a certified reputable mechanic and scheduled oil changes and other required service every 5000 miles. At around 69,100 miles the check engine light appeared and I immediately took the car in for service. I was advised
... that the spark plugs and valves were heavily carbon fouled. The spark plugs needed changing and the valves needed cleaning. It was also necessary to replace the coils. Total repair bill was $2008.84. I was advised by my mechanic that excessive oil consumption is a problem with KIA automobiles and after researching the issue myself, found this to be the case. Some engine design issues, most likely with oil leaking past the pistons into the combustion chambers, causing fouling. I have learned that ultimately, the pistons and valves will become fouled again, the engine warning light will reappear and possibly, the engine will break down - hopefully, not in a distant place without knowledgable service. The new car warranty for my KIA was 100,000 miles but since I bought it used (I am the second owner) the warranty was reduced to 60,000 miles. I filed a complaint with KIA Motors and asked that they simply extend my warranty to 100,000 miles but since there is no pending recalls for this problem, my request was denied.Read more
