I was driving down the road with the cruise set at 60 mph when I came over the top of a hill and I started to decend down the hill if felt like my truck had down shifted and the back tires locked up and screeched a little bit then a big bang happened and had no more drive gear as I hit the gas it just reved the motor up and didn’t move. Upon further inspection I pulled the rear differential cove
... r off and my spider gears and the shaft holding the gears in place was snapped in 2 different places, chips in the gears. My transfer case chain was snapped in half and my transmission had hard shift from first to second gear and a loud buzzing noise. . I took the truck to my mechanic and hooked a scanner up to it and took it for a test run. As it was driving a sensor was telling the truck to shift into park as it was shifting from first to second or second to third causing a hard shift and buzzing noise and eventually losing all connectivity to the transmission and internals as well. I have sense replaced the whole rear axel, transfer case myself with used parts and is currently in the shop swapping transmissions as I needed my vehicle to continue working. Safety of myself and or others was definitely at risk when my rear tires locked up the rear end could have slid out cause me to wreck and possibly wreck into someone else. There was also no warning lights or anything on my dash before this incident occurred.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding an open safety recall on my vehicle, NHTSA Recall 25V721 (Manufacturer Recall 25SB5), which has been active since October 29, 2025. As of today, the recall remains incomplete and the manufacturer states that no remedy or parts are available, with no estimated timeline provided. The recall involves a potential issue where a front seat frame height-adjust pi
... vot bolt may loosen or dislodge, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. According to the manufacturer, this condition may not be identifiable without an incident or collision. My concern is that: 1.The recall has been open for over three months with no interim remedy, inspection protocol, or mitigation guidance offered to owners. 2.The manufacturer has not provided clear written guidance on whether the vehicle is considered safe for continued operation while awaiting the remedy, beyond stating that parts are unavailable. 3.Owners are left in a prolonged state of uncertainty, despite the recall being classified as safety-related. 4.The lack of interim guidance or remedy availability is causing financial and practical hardship, as vehicles with open safety recalls are restricted from certain lawful uses, even when no symptoms are present. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether the manufacturer’s delay in providing a remedy—or interim safety guidance—meets expectations for timely resolution of a safety recall. I am also requesting that NHTSA encourage the manufacturer to provide either: •An interim inspection or mitigation procedure, or •Clear guidance on vehicle operability and risk while awaiting the final remedy. Thank you for your review of this matter.Read more

The vehicle is experiencing a chronic, documented loss of engine coolant with no external leaks identified, accompanied by a persistent odor of burning coolant. Despite nine months of notification and two separate Ford authorized dealerships attempting repairs, the defect remains unresolved. To date, dealerships have performed only 'surface-level' pressure and dye tests. They have refused to perf
... orm thorough diagnostics despite the clear evidence of consumption. This creates a severe safety hazard: coolant loss on this engine platform is a known precursor to sudden engine stall and potential engine fire. By failing to identify the internal leak path, Ford is requiring me to operate a vehicle with an unpredictable mechanical deficit. The absence of a Warning Lamp (CEL) does not mitigate the risk; it confirms a mechanical failure that the current onboard diagnostics are failing to capture before a catastrophic event occurs.Read more

The vehicle often feels like it is slipping when it is changing gears at lower speeds. When trying to accelerate quickly getting on the highway, it fails to increase speed. The gas pedal is pressed and the engine revs and it does not increase speed. This has happened more than once and has caused me to nearly be in accidents because I cannot enter the highway as I should. I took it to a dealer
... initially in 2023 and they repaired the transmission cooler. Was told it was operating as designed after that. Then in 2024 I took it in for the same issue and was told I needed an engine replacement. I paid for an entire engine replacement and was told the issue was fixed. I am now having the same issue and will be taking it back for a 3rd time. My local shop (not the dealer) told me it is the timing belt which is part of the engine. I feel unsafe in my vehicle and do not feel my $16,000 repair fixed the problem.Read more

The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the left engine manifold, catalytic converter, and the air intake had failed. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL). The contact stated that since the remedy was not available when the recall was issued, the delay created additional damages to the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repairs were already completed. No assistance was provided. However, a claim was filed with the manufacturer. The 2019 model year UA80 transmission abruptly failed while driving at under 88,000 miles, just a bit beyond the warranty period. I have to sell the car as is and take a $10,000 loss because of this defect by Toyota. My mechanic has photos and will document all the details. My safety was absolutely at risk when the vehicle abruptly stopped on the road while driving during a major rain storm but
... luckily nothing bad happened. Thankfully I was on a local surface street and not the freeway or a busy intersection. I was towed to my mechanic that has been servicing my vehicle since 2021. My mechanic did a thorough inspection and determined the transmission had failed. He also confirmed this is a chronic problem with several make and model years for several Toyota and Lexus vehicles that use the UA80 transmission. I also learned several class action lawsuits against Toyota were recently filed. There was really no warning other than it ran a little rough in the morning 2 days prior to the car stopping abruptly on the road. This was just a week or so after being with my mechanic for regular service. There are no replacement UA80 units available from Toyota, they are on back order due to all the failures, so my only option is to walk away and take a huge loss or spend $9,000 on a used unit that will ultimately have the same issue. I am probably going to sell at a loss and get a different vehicle.Read more

See attached document for complaint. RE: NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 25V695 To whom it may concern, In August 2025 we took our 2016 CMAX into the Ford Dealer we purchased it from to have the check out the back-up camera that was not working and have a service done. They charges us $225.00 to check it out and then wanted to service it for several hundred dollars more. There was no mention at that time a
... bout a recall, and after re-reading the bulletin you sent out, that did not come until October. The online status was that any repairs were not to begin until June 2026. Both of us are seniors and being concerned of the safety issues with the camera, we looked for the best price to repair/replace the camera and found a company, G&O Body in Placerville that did the repair for $618.25 In November.. So, at this point, we are out of pocket $843.25 to fix an issue that was put under free repair thru the recall. I would like to know how to apply for reimbursement for this camera replacement cost.Read more

Component or system that malfunctioned: The braking system on my 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, specifically the transition between regenerative braking and hydraulic friction braking, appears to malfunction intermittently. During braking, the vehicle sometimes lurches or surges forward instead of slowing smoothly, especially at low speeds or when braking downhill. The vehicle is available for ins
... pection upon request. How safety was put at risk: The unexpected forward surge while braking increases stopping distance and creates uncertainty about braking performance, particularly in traffic or parking situations. This creates a risk of rear-end or low-speed collisions and reduces my confidence in the braking system. Problem reproduced or confirmed by dealer or service center: The vehicle was inspected by a Toyota dealership, and a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) software update intended to address braking behavior was performed at approximately 50,000 miles. However, the braking problem continues unchanged after the repair. I had to pay the dealer to perform this TSB update. The dealer was initially reluctant to apply the TSB and did not associate my braking complaint with the known issue. I had to research the TSB myself and request that it be applied. The invoice notes that the dealer reproduced the issue. Vehicle or component inspected by manufacturer or others: The vehicle has been inspected by a Toyota dealership service department. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives, as no accident has occurred. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: No warning lights or messages appear when the problem occurs. The issue happens intermittently without warning and has occurred since the vehicle was new. The condition appears to be getting progressively worse. The issue seems more likely to occur when braking while the hybrid battery is near or at full charge, suggesting a possible problem in the transition between regenerative and friction braking.Read more

I am reporting a persistent safety defect involving loss of intended drivability in my 2017 Ram 1500 with an 8-speed automatic transmission. For the past 3 years, on almost every use of the vehicle, the transmission enters an abnormal operating state where it becomes stuck in a single gear (most often 3rd or 4th) and will not upshift or downshift. When this occurs, the vehicle experiences reduced
... ability to accelerate and loss of normal drivability. The condition does not resolve while driving and requires me to pull over, shut the vehicle off, and restart it to restore operation. This defect has occurred multiple times at freeway speeds, requiring me to pull over onto the highway shoulder due to loss of vehicle function. A vehicle that cannot reliably shift or accelerate at highway speed presents a clear safety hazard to the driver and surrounding traffic. Requiring a stop-and-restart is not a safe or reasonable mitigation strategy in real-world traffic conditions. The issue occurs more frequently when the vehicle is cold, indicating a predictable and repeatable failure mode, not driver error or misuse. I have had to alter normal driving behavior, including extended warm-up periods and avoiding highways, to reduce risk. I was informed by repair facilities that this is a known issue related to transmission control module (TCM) software, and that Chrysler has issued Technical Service Bulletin(s) describing TCM software updates to address abnormal shifting and drivability behavior. The existence of these TSBs demonstrates manufacturer knowledge of the failure mode and a defined corrective action, yet the issue has not been addressed as a safety recall. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be evaluated based on objective safety criteria. A vehicle that routinely loses drivability and requires emergency stops on freeways warrants formal safety investigation.Read more

I am reporting a catastrophic repeat engine failure on my 2020 Mercedes-Benz C300. On October 9, 2025, with 26,589 miles, the vehicle suffered a Cylinder 2 failure (exhaust valves), causing a dangerous loss of power in traffic. I paid $4,100.43 for a $10,000 plus cylinder head replacement at an authorized dealer (Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta South) on November 13, 2025. Following the repair, the vehic

The dealer now states the entire engine requires replacement. This repeat failure of a critical engine component at low mileage poses an unreasonable risk of stalling or sudden loss of propulsion on high-speed roads. I am aware of the January 2026 Mercedes-Benz warranty extension (NCU 30-P-072328) for this specific M264 engine defect, which confirms a known manufacturing flaw that the current dealership repair process failed to remediate, leaving me in an unsafe vehicle.Read more

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module in this 2017 Ram 1500 has failed, causing the ABS warning light and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) indicators to remain illuminated. A diagnosis by an authorized dealership on 1/6/2026 confirmed the failure of the ABS module and the need for a total replacement. The dealership informed me that the necessary replacement part is on an indefinite backord
... er from the manufacturer with no estimated date of arrival. As a result, the vehicle currently lacks functional ABS and stability control. This creates a significant safety risk, as the vehicle may experience wheel lock-up or a loss of steering control during emergency braking or in slippery road conditions. While driving my engine began to smoke, I had to pull over on a very dangerous highway. After getting the vehicle towed my mechanic determined that the engine over heated due to a faulty cooling fan on the engine. The head gasket now needs to be replaced, as well as the whole engine. He informed me this is a common issue they see in Nissan Rogue Sports. There were no warnings or issues noted. Only

While towing 10,000 lb trailer vehicle displayed indicators that traction control and ABS were failing. I've taken vehicle to dealer 5 times since recall and it's now over 1 year and Chrysler failed to remedy recalled defective part 68143491AA. Chrysler complaint case no. 95672952 filed on 2/16/26. Chrysler HAS in fact produced the replacement part No. 68143491AB - supersedes failed part no.
... above. Local dealers have qty 9 of part locally in stock and sell to public for $500. After calling many parts dept sources, I learned dealers are lying and telling current owners no remedy available under recall so that Chrysler can prioritize replacing Ram trucks traded in to dealers so they can fix under recall and make those vehicles sellable by dealers as highest priority for parts. However, dealers are also willing to sell the new part to consumers at full msrp at parts counter + labor in service center. So they make eligible customers pay full price up front and fight to get reimbursed later after being out nearly $1000 to fix Chrysler's problem. I get that there may not be enough parts on hand for every recalled unit - yet. But there are enough now at dealers that when a truck comes in to dealer service center with proven HCU failure indicators (traction control and ABS warning lights) those customers should be given the recall part with labor as required of Chrysler. In my case, brake failure warning lights were documented 7 months ago at North Fort Worth Auto Nation dealer service center under invoice #187541. So, there is no excuse why I'm now being lied to and told they don't have new part 68143491AB when parts mgr told me himself they have 8 parts in stock at that dealership alone as of 2/16/26. NHTSA is allowing Chrysler to self-regulate on this without sufficient oversight. After a year plus since first recall notice there is NO excuse why current owners should be denied available parts to fix this known major safety issue.Read more
