I bought this car a couple of years ago. I didnt think much of it because I never owned a Toyota. I noticed that the transmission was doing some weird hesitation when going from 1st to 2nd gear. There is an intermittent lag on when the transmission kicks in. You can actually feel the car stutter into the 1st and 2nd gear. Also, while driving on the highway at a steady pace, the transmission ha

I was told the best thing to do was report it here. Our son was driving his 2019 Honda Accord and suddenly everything on his dashboard lit up. Was told it is a blown head gasket. We were also told that the shop has had over 81 Accords in with the same issue. They said Honda is trying to sweep it under the rug rather making a recall. We were told this is what they see: The head gasket mate
... rial between cylinders is very tiny, any minor disturbance will cause coolant to leak into the cylinder. Usually failures are happening between cylinders 2&3 where the material is the thinnest. 2) Honda is really trying to get a lot of power out of this small engine with the inclusion of the turbocharger. Higher octane fuels are needed to prevent premature detonation / knock, especially with forced induction (turbo charger). You can still run the car using 87 octane, but the chances of problems like a blown head gasket happening increase. 3) The head bolts that keep the engine head to the engine block are not strong enough. These bolts are torque to yield at around 50 ft lbs (if that). There have been instances where these bolts don't have enough clamping force to withstand the pre-detonation. This force causes the head to jump and the bolts to stretch. The heat from the combustion in the cylinder is no longer contained, which warps and damages the head gasket over time, leading to its failure. It was suggested to use ARP studs which we were told are a higher quality than the OEM Honda head bolts and have a stronger clamping force. Our son ended up stranded 3 states away with this issue that we then learn is VERY common yet there are no recalls.Read more

I am reporting a recurring safety-critical failure. On two separate occasions, the vehicle has experienced a total electrical and mechanical shutdown while in operation. During these events, the 12V power system fails completely, turning off all instrumentation and, most critically, the electronic power brake assist. This results in a 'hard pedal' condition where the vehicle is nearly impossible t
... o stop without extreme physical force. The first instance occurred at road speeds, forcing an emergency maneuver into a turning lane to avoid traffic. The second instance occurred while reversing, causing the vehicle to lose all braking and propulsion and roll into a busy road resulting in a near-miss collision. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive as the shutdowns are intermittent and occur without warning.Read more

2023 Ram 1500 V6 eTorque, 40,000 miles. Two stalling incidents have occurred under different conditions. Incident 1: While towing approximately 4,000 lbs, the 12V battery began slowly draining while the vehicle was in motion. Battery voltage gradually dropped below 10 volts until the engine shut off completely while driving. No warning lights appeared prior to shutdown. Jump start restored normal
... operation. Stored fault codes retrieved afterward showed 16 simultaneous voltage fault codes across every major module including ECU, ABS, EPS, DDM, PDM, CSWM, IFC, PTS and SCCM — all logging system voltage below allowable range simultaneously, consistent with a complete charging system failure. PCM also logged a U0401 code indicating implausible data received, consistent with the PCM losing stable voltage. Incident 2: After approximately 45 minutes of low-speed driving (5-10 mph) in a Walmart parking lot, the vehicle stalled without warning on a busy road in [XXX] . My wife and two young children were in car seats in the vehicle at the time. The engine cut off completely in live moving traffic with no warning. I was forced to exit the vehicle and jump start it in the middle of traffic while my children remained strapped in their car seats, creating a serious and dangerous situation. Jump start restored normal operation. On the subsequent highway drive home, battery voltage was observed declining from 14V to 13.2V over the course of the drive, suggesting the charging system is unable to maintain adequate voltage output. This is a known recurring issue with the Ram eTorque mild hybrid system. NHTSA has an open preliminary investigation into eTorque stalling on 2022 Ram 1500 models. The MGU, BPCM and PCM are all covered under the 8-year/80,000-mile Federal Emissions Warranty verified via VIN. PCM software updates have never been performed on this vehicle. Notably, in October 2022, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced it had launched an investigation into Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motor Company for problems with their oil pans and oil drain plugs. Specifically, consumers and aftermarket service facilities have filed complaints their engine’s oil drain plug falls out, causing all the oil to drain out of their engine while driving. In multiple tests the oil drain plug was tightened according to factory torque specifications and the tightening was well documented. Yet, testing shows in multiple cases that while driving, the oil drain plug falls within a few thousand miles after the service. In those cases, the crankcase drained completely. I had already called the dealership on March 6th after discovering (via NHTSA site) that my truck had been flagged for the trailer brake control recall. I was told to make an appointment at the aforementioned dealership and call them the day before the appointment, so they could send a representative to the dealership for examination. I did exactly that to no avail. No one from Stellantis even contacted the dealership on the appointment date.
