My 2018 Ram 2500 has 85,000 miles currently. At about 80,000 miles I got the ABS and Traction control warning lights along with dash messages to check the ABS amd electronic braking systems. I am a heavy equipment mechanic and thus checked the systems myself with a scan tool and other test equipment. I found that the ABS module has an internal electrical failure resulting in power not being suppli
... ed to the ABS pump/electric motor. I have verified that the pump works and has about a 48ohm resistance. If supplied with 12v and ground to the motor it will come on. Circuit testing from the electrical plug to the contacts for the motor one pin has contact and the other is an open circuit. I also have one seized plunger in the hydraulic control unit that is actuator by the motors eccentric lobe on the output shaft. After doing some research online I've found this is a very common issue on the 2017 and 2018 Ram heavy duty trucks, the 2500 and 3500 model specifically. I also found that neither the hydraulic control unit nor the ABS module have been available for purchase for a long time. I myself have been trying to order one for about 6 months. No dealer in my area can even give me an estimate time of availability. So currently I and many other have to drive a vehicle with a failed ABS system. This poses a greater risk of collision and unsafe braking. It is also a requirement to be working to pass a vehicle inspection so selling the vehicle or depending on state lived in you may not even be able to drive the vehicle at all.Read more

For 4 years the car intermittently would turn on all warning lights, shake, become hard to steer and steer in unintended directions. We paid $1500 for the dealer to fix it and we still had the problem. Today, the car will drive less then a mile and die. Second instance of possible serious injury or death occurred on 2/14/2024: I had the vehicle towed to Audi of Iowa City after experiencing the exact same brake failure issue that day after driving the vehicle less than 100 miles after it was returned to me. Third instance of possible serious injury or death occurred on 5/10/2024: I brought the vehicle in to Audi of Iowa City again after the vehicle failed to stop in a safe manner earlier that day. I was going 30 MPH and the brake pedal went to the floor. I got no response out of the brake pedal. Pre-collision braking stopped the car but there was no resistance in the pedal before that. I have requested Audi replace or repurchase the vehicle three times, each time Audi has declined the buyback and claim the vehicle is safe. When the tech arrived he noted the tire was new (purchase and installed 42 days earlier). I asked if he's seen this before as I hadn't, and he said he'd only seen it when a driver hit a curb, which I had not. In the early evening I took the tire back to the shop where it was purchased and before even looking at the tire they informed me I "must have hit something" and will just need to purchase a replacement. After they inspected the tire at my insistence, they concluded I must've hit something but I believe it was a case of confirmation bias. I pointed out, and they did not refute, that there was no other damage to the tire, no damage to the rim, and no damage to the vehicle. ... oon rush hour traffic, experienced total engine failure as soon as it reached highway speed. Got off the ramp onto the highway and immediately next ramp rolled to a stop at the bottom. Safety was put at risk because the vehicle lost it's engine getting on a freeway in heavy traffic. Hyundai dealers couldn't see the car for 2 to 3 months so had it towed to a non-dealership mechanic who stated the engine was a total loss with metal shavings in the oil drained from the pan. Pulled the head and found the oil at the top of the block to be in good maintenance shape but engine totally failed. No lights or warnings prior to the failure. As soon as the engine stopped there was alternator, oil pressure, and check engine light. Those came on after loss of engine Hyundai states they extended the warranty to cover this because it's a known issue but local dealerships state they have so many engine failures they won't be able to look at it until the end of September (we are at the beginning of July) and when they do get a chance to look at it there is a chance they could refuse to cover it. In April 2024 a small rock hit my windshield and it immediately cracked. I’ve had rocks hit the windshield on other vehicles but usually nothing is visible or worse case it was a chip. Has been in and out of the dealership nonstop for the past 2 years for electrical issues with the radio, an oil sensor wiring issue, and the dealership is trying to say 5 modules are out in the truck. They only posted 3 modules and they were transfer case module, power steering module, and body control module.

The recall was for vehicles produced between August 12, 2010 and December 18, 2013 that were sold or registered in areas with high humidity and warm ocean waters. The flexible coupling can wear out over time, causing noise when turning the steering wheel, especially when the car is stopped. Kia dealers replaced the coupling at no cost to customers.
